Star-divide

The first 2 weeks of this 2009 NFL season the New York Giants have displayed a surprisingly lethal passing game which dominated their division rival opponents. Eli Manning has shown tremendous poise, and receivers Steve Smith and Mario Manningham have been virtually unstoppable.  But the Giants league-leading (2008) running game has been unusually quiet.  Even so, the Giants offense took what they were given and led the team to victory.

My prescription for the ailing Giants in week 3 is to bring back the running game.  Pound the ball with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw.  Keep the Giant defense off the field during 90-plus degree heat.  Keep pounding with running plays until we wear down the Buccaneers front line.

I'm sure we will see plenty of passing too.  Let's face it, TB is probably going to "put 8 men in the box" most of the time until they are burned.  I'd like to see the Giants stick with the run once a decent lead is established.  Time for the Juggernaut!  Especially versus old teammate, Derrick Ward...

or by air? Victory is what’s important. I’m sure the offense will get enough points to get it done. Let’s hope the defense not only stands strong, but stays healthy. That goes for everyone, I guess. But particularly for our D.

I picked Bradshaw

The way they used him in Dallas leads me to believe once the second half hits, he
is going to be the feature back. I see the offense doing the same thing they’ve done the last two weeks with one big difference…we’re going to come out passing, but when we get in the red zone we’re gonna score. We’re not going to keep this team in the game and we should have a sizable lead by the half…meaning lots of carries for Ahmad to close it out.

Look for throws INTO the endzone this week.

Not 3-7 yards short like the last two.

yep!

I didn’t see the game :-( but from what I have seen and read, you were spot-on on Bradshaw.

However, I think Jacobs’ impact is not just measured in the stat line. Bradshaw should probably put up the sexier numbers most weeks, but Jacobs causes more bruising and wears down the defense in ways that can’t be measured by stats.

Running game did the job, kept the defense off the field.

The Giants’ time of possession of 43:38 was their highest since Oct. 29, 2000
