TC: Tuck might play with harness
New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck is a great player. But, can he play with just one good arm? Sounds like he might try.
Tom Coughlin is holding out hope that injured defensive end Justin Tuck will play on Sunday in Tampa Bay, possibly with a harness on his injured left shoulder.
Tuck, who has a partially torn labrum as the Daily News reported today, is not practicing today and is "day to day" according to Coughlin.

Wow Ed...
Coughlin also sounded like a guy who would like to take that harness and whip Flozell Adams of Dallas with it. Personally, I would volunteer to help.
What a badass….

Yeah, but ...
I’d be standing behind TC.

HAHAHA
Honestly, I’d probably mess with Flozell Adams before I’d pick a fight with Tom Coughlin.

why rush it
Of course every player wants to be out there on sunday but we are entering a rather soft section of our schedule. Kiwi can run the show for a week or two so I dont see a need to rush tuck back. Rather have him close to 100 percent with a few weeks rest.
I hear you
If he can get healthy, rather than have it linger, that might be best.

If Canty is back
this week, I would definitely hold Tuck out. Tollefson can get some reps and Canty could play a series or two at end and we should still be able to do well against TB. Even if Canty is not back, I’d still prefer to see Tuck take some recovery time

Goddammit Flozell you piece
This is potentially a serious injury in terms of performance.
Tito, you may remember it as what essentially ended Mike Lowell’s days as a top-flite hitter and third baseman (and runner — oh wait he never was that).
Entry on torn Labrum:
http://orthopedics.about.com/od/shoulderelbow/a/labrum.htm
It sounds from this description that a trauma-based tear in a young patient is most likely a Bankart tear/lesion:
http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/generalshoulder/a/bankart.htm
in case you don’t follow the link, here are the essentials:
When the labrum of the shoulder joint is torn, the stability of the shoulder joint is compromised. A specific type of labral tear is called a Bankart lesion. A Bankart lesion occurs when an individual sustains a shoulder dislocation.
Typical symptoms of a Bankart lesion include:
a sense of instability
repeat dislocations
catching sensations
aching of the shoulder
Often patients will complain that they cannot “trust” their shoulder, fearing it may dislocate again.
this is not good for a D-Lineman, who makes his living shoving 300+ pound men!
There are two general options for the treatment of a Bankart lesion. One option is to allow the arm to rest, and the inflammation to subside with the use of a sling.
which we all saw Tuck in in the second half
This is usually followed by physical therapy to regain motion of the extremity. The potential downside of this option is that people who dislocate a shoulder once are much more likely to dislocate the shoulder again.
seems that continuing to play is the opposite of physical therapy
The other option is to perform surgery to repair the torn labrum. When surgery is performed, the torn labrum of the Bankart lesion is reattached to the socket of the shoulder. The results of surgery are usually very good, with over 90% of patients returning to their activities without any further dislocations. More and more commonly this surgery is being performed arthroscopically; however, there are indications in some patients who should have a Bankart repair performed through a standard incision.
So without knowing the severity of the tear there are three likely outcomes:
1. It is a minor tear, and Tuck is able to play while progressing through a rehab program because there is no instability. But likely he will be limited in his range of motion and moves.
2. The rehab program will require Tuck to avoid sudden or stressful motions for several weeks. If I was Coughlin, no way he plays Sunday, in fact, depending on insider knowledge I’d think about having his ass on the bench until week 6.
3. The tear will require surgery, and with it a 12-week minimum rehabilitation program.
I’m not a doctor, I just read one on the Internet… but shit man. This is going to potentially be a production-killer for Tuck and could really nag him for his entire life.
As far as Flozell goes, I’m only 5’9" 200, but give me a few shots and beers and I’ll lead the charge.
You play to win the game!
Partially torn labrum huh....
well, shit.
Every game’s important, but if Tuck has to sit this one out, I will not argue. Not cuz he can’t play, but the risk of injury may outplay his actual effectiveness.
Hopefully Canty will be as close to 100% as he can possibly be and at least attempt to make up for it, you know, to show why they pay him more than Tuck?
What the f$%k is the internet?
ESPECIALLY considering how he ended last season...
If Justin Tuck is playing right now, hurt, against Tampa Bay in week 3…and when December rolls around he’s not the same player in the fourth quarter because of it (Divisional Playoffs anyone??) I’m going to be a very unhappy Giants fan.

As for fighting "Hotel" Adams.....
Well the guy’s 6"8 350lbs, give or take 50lbs….. I’ll just smack Romo’s pinkie when Adams isn’t looking.

Hey Bradshaw
I was so mad, I challenged Flozell to a fight. He accepted, and we met at a neutral site and we brawled, no holds barred. Here is the video:

Tuck is a monster, but really he should just take the game off.. I think we will be fine in Tampa.. Plus it will give Kiwi some extra playing time
+1
Kiwi is itching to break out…this might be the perfect game for him to do so.

This isn't a "game or two" injury...
He’ll be severely affected by this all season, and you guys have every right to be pissed.
If I’m the GM of the Eagles and I have my choice of any defensive player in the NFC East, Demarcus Ware wouldn’t be a no-brainer. I’d give very serious consideration to Justin Tuck. Personally, I feel that Tuck is the best player on your team.
The Giants unfairly just became a much more beatable team today.
Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(
To be honest
With the Bucs, Chiefs and Raiders coming up, I wouldn’t mind just shutting him down for a couple weeks. We can beat these teams without Justin Tuck. As long as Kiwi and Tollefson do a satisfactory job, they should win these games. The only game of those three that I’m concerned about is the Oakland game because they seem to truly have a good defense for once.
That Cheap Shot by Flozell adams deserves at least a one game suspension and a big fine. In my opinion, it’s worse than what Haynesworth did to Gurode. The NFL will also take into account the fact that he took out a superstar with a cheap move. If he had taken out Dave Tollefson I don’t know if they’d react the same way.

the fine he got is ridiculous
$12,500 is nothing to these guys.. There’s no way that it will deter him from doing it again

yeah
that should also take into account he’s the most penalized player in the game the last couple years. they should be stricter on him than somebody else who just did something like this once.
Seriously...are you all still crying about this?!
Suspended for a tripping penalty?! Absolutely hilarious! “Take into accoun he’s the most penalized player in the game the last couple of years.” What, he commits the “dirty” penalty of false start too often so he should be banned for life? Give me a break.
Beware D-Ware
I guarantee
If David Diehl BLATANTLY cheapshotted DeMarcus Ware all of you cowboys fans would be screaming bloody murder. And there may be some attempted dragging of Diehl behind a huge pickup truck with a lift and mud tires.

That Adams..the dirty
Skunk does it all the time..and yes he should be penalized heavily..If he’s too damn fat to move and block, he should be on a diet and sitting out suspended for a few games without pay..He’ll get his from somebody somewhere..Hopefully Tuck and Osi.
FIne
The fine was a big #12,500 why bother?
rematch: Dec 6, 2009
Flozell is going to get absolutely BLOWN UP!! I can’t wait. I’m already excited.
In fact, I will bet you all right now that he has a mysterious injury that flares up that week. Flozell Adams is an absolute bully and now he is afraid of going up against them again!
He's not a bully
He’s a fat dirty chump..Bullies hit you man-to-man..He is a cheap-shot artist..whimp.
Get healthy Tuck
We want u when it counts most. Take the time u need. But by all means, run as much as possible. U’ve been looking a lil winded lately.
If our beloved LT (the real one) could do it
Hopefully JT can do it
I don't know the extent of Tucks injury
But LT played the same whole game with a dislocated one..and tackled and sacked the QB with one arm…Remember?
maybe we can get 56 to do a favre. . .

he still looks like he can play
I’m not saying he’d be a Pro Bowler or anything, but I’d give him a shot. I’m only half joking, too.
and while he's at it
he can reclaim his initials from that pretender in SD

i know!
Tomlinson doesn’t have half the toughness LT had. Even funnier though, The Giants supposedly call Lawrence Tynes “LT”.. Needless to say, I think the LT nickname is more fitting for LaDainian.

Would you want that or would you have him play through?

No, not in this case..we have the talent now..
To have Kiwi play end and Sintim to switch..We have more talent than we did back then..but that Adams should have been punished more severely..He’s a dirty player..
There will never be another player
with as much disregard for his own body as LT had. I don’t think its worth it for tuck to risk it though.. You have to wonder if playing through so many injuries shortened LT’s career.

Whoa, LT was a warrior, no doubt, but other had as much disregard
E.g., Jack Youngblood played with a broken leg, Monk Edwards (a Giant) with a broken kneecap.
Kellen Winslow's gotta get a mention too
just for that playoff game. I’m obviously too young to have seen it, but the NFL Films documentary on that game is one of my favorite non-Giants related NFL Films documentaries.
As much as I despise him..
Phillip Rivers playing in the AFC Championship game (and almost winning it) with a Torn ACL was ridiculous. You don’t expect that kind of toughness from a quarterback.

Players like Winselow, Simms, Rivers..They are / were toughest of them all..Rivers will be in the HOF..Simms belongs there also..These guys are super tough..There is no one tougher than Phil at QB..
rivers can be (& has been) a punk @ times
he may be tough, but he lacks class.
Simms doesn’t get the respect he deserves bcz he played at the same time as Montana.
he definately belongs in Canton

tuck is one of if not our best defensive players
but with three very winnable games coming up id urge the coaching staff to sit him to absolutely make sure hes ready to go and not risk an even more serious injury

"I think Tuck should dressup the next two games..."
Based on the crying that has gone on in Giant nation the past few days…I would expect Tuck to show up on the sidelines in a skirt.
Beware D-Ware
unless he was immitating the Cowboys and the fact they got pimped on Sunday night
,,,,,
and so much for your heavily jocked on players. Witten and Ware didn’t do dogshit. Figures it would take a troll 4 days to develop balls to talk crap.
YOure Left tackle is a fake, a phony, a POS and any true Cowboy’s fan knows it.
No one is crying about it. We’re all pissed about it and want to send Flozell back to the fetal position he belongs in.

Seems Rockhead would be singing a different tune
had one of the Gmen landed a cheap shot on Ware or Barber. And once again, don’t the cowboys play the Panthers. Why are you trolling after the party is over. cowboys are old news until December 6. Let’s pick this back up then. For now, your cowboys don’t mean jack.
Were you picking your nose like
Frogman Jone and his puppet Phillips when you wrote this?..Do you condone dirty play?..If you do than go hide somewhere and pick your Arse..you’ll smell “Fat Adams” on your fingers.
Eagles fan here,
Though there’s always a tickling little joy in seeing your rivals team reduced in strength as it pertains to your own team’s success, it’s never a good thing to see such a dominant player go down to injury. Tuck is one of those guys that you love to watch, even if you hate to see him when your team in on the field.
I think all fans of the NFC can agree, unequivocally, that Dallas is the most hated team in the division and for all of the thugs and criminals on our teams (Plax, Vick, etc.) the Cowboys have been the worst collection of jerks in the league for a long, long time.
I’ll be hoping Slowzell Fatams gets his comeuppance soon! Hopefully at the hands of Trent Cole. Good luck with Tuck.

great post
but lets take the teams out of the equation for a second. a dirty play is a dirty play, and it led to a star player being injured, on national tv where the announcers pointed it out. i think back to the bucs packers game where warren sapp unleashed that ferocious blindside block that injured a player for the year. that’s the kind of stuff that needs to be taken care of by the league, on player absolutely cannot be allowed to make dirty plays like that.
You guys are right..Doesn't matter who you root for..
A dirty player is a dirty player..They don’t belong in the NFL..Adams is a dirty player..I don’t care what team he plays against..He stinks..that tactic just isn’t right..When we play the Eagles, Redskins..anybody, I want to see the teams healthy, not done in by cheap shots. He’ll get his..but it’ll be clean…Watch out Adams, you have painted a target on your back..Every player in the league sees it…I hear you got fined your lunch money for one day, 12,500.00…Poor slob…Every player you play against will make you pay more than that, you bum.
Tuck don't play
wait till your should is ok. Not good to make it worse. The season is had just begun, many
more games to go. Best to let it heal completely.
The Giants have enough talent
To avoid rushing Tuck back..that scum tried to take Osi out too..that would have been a big problem. To all fans of every team and all players..Watch out for this guy!!
If that is how this slob wants
To play, then target his knees with helmets..Give up one big gain to put him out..for good.
That would be JUSTICE
illegal, but justice none-the-less
