Plaxico Burress
We all know that Plax has a history of doing what he wants to do right? But to take away 2 years of his life for shooting himself? I am not saying that there should not have been consequences for his actions, but he lost his mega million dollar job, loses time with his family and for what? Because the current mayor of New York wants it that way. In the beginning, he made a statement that he was going to do what he could to see that Plaxico Burress served prison time. Did the bouncer who let him in the club that night carrying a concealed weapon receive anything? Doubtful!!!!
I think that Plaxico is a hell of an athlete and is just being used to make a point. I know I am a Giants fan, but I am also a fan of right and wrong. The man shot himself, didn't threaten anyone else, didn't try to take the gun out at all. He was carrying it for his own protection. Michael Vick got 23 months in federal prison and 3 years probation for his illegal acts. Which in my opinion were more ruthless and vicious that Plaxico's .
However, its only my opinion. That is one thing that our beautiful legal system has taken away from us. Freedom of Speech still lives.

Not seeing a third option
No longer a Giant, no longer care.
Plaxico was released back in the spring, time to move on and disassociate him from the G-Men.

That is easier said than done. How many times did you hear his name mentioned during Sunday nights game? I lost track in the first quarter myself. I just hate seeing someone made an example of when we so many other people getting by with murder. Celebs. and politcians, normal every day people should have the same law. No one should be made an example of, we should all be the example.

That's the thing
Dude is long gone. Mentioning him and how they replace his production (while annoying) I can handle. His going to jail though… that holds no meaning as to concerns of this team.

How well I do know that!!!
The team is expanding in talent. Now there will be more than just that one deep threat. With any luck these new guys that they in here will just kick ass.
Doesn’t mean that I can’t sympathize for the man!

same here, Mindy
he’s def. a topic here. We were his last team, and the Eggs are probably his next team. He did a lot for Big Blue and we should sympathize with what’s going on in the man’s life more than resent him for how it affects a game.

Mindy
I voted he was nailed for being hi-profile. But the difficult thing is, if he got off I’d probably say it was because he had the big money for lawyers & such…

I can completely understand that point too.

I had no pity for him until now.
Two years is ridiculous. Not when Donte’ Stallworth gets 30 days for killing someone. If Plax does more than 18 months, it’s a travesty. I will say this, though – if that law’s supposed to be a deterrent? It’s working. I wouldn’t bring an unlicensed water pistol into the state of New York.
I left my swagger in my other pants.

i kind of feel the way you do
you know, at first I was angry at this guy and kind of blamed the teams implosion last year partly on his actions and all the press and craziness that came with that. I hated him for that and was glad when i heard he was going to be doing some time but, I didn’t know he had a son and that his wife was pregnant. Now I feel really bad for the guy. Still though, he did it to himself and should have to pay the price. He could possibly get out early though appeal the case, good behavior, etc… I’m always a big believer in a level playing field and i hate it when celebs get special treatment. As long as the judge would have given the same sentence to a normal person in the same position, i’m cool with it. I still feel bad for him though, it would kill me to be separated from my family for that long.

PLAX.
PLAX IS ONE OF THE BEST RECEIVERS IN THE LEAGUE. BECAUSE HE SHOT HIMSELF, HE SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN THE TIME THAT HE GOT. THE GIANTS ( AND I AM A DIE-HARD FAN) SHOULD HAVE HELPED HIM NOT CHASTISED HIM. I WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN RID OF HIM LIKE YESTERDAYS DISH WATER.

no need to shout...
and the Giants plenty of times tried to work with him on doing the time and playing, even this season if Goodell allowed him too.
Plaxico got rid of himself.

We had this discussion before
when sentence came down, but IMO Plax deserves every bit of the time he’s getting. The mayor of New York wants these laws because too many young people get shot in our city and country everyday. They typical tend to be black males like me and Mr. Gun in the club. It needs to stop and soon IMO. If send in Plax to jail for doing something very dumb and dangerous sends the message then I support. This fool took is weapon unlicences and unsecured, and across state lines into a place people drink alcohol and managed to shoot himself. I feel bad for his kids and wife, but he’s brought this on himself.

You buy the ticket, you take the ride...
I think the whole situation surrounding Plax is just plain sad. What a terrible waste of talent on something so stupid. All these athletes should have bodyguards when they go out. Forget about being macho and all of that crap. Protect yourself the smart way or do the time like Burress now has to do. I’m mad at him for what he did to the team but I feel for him as a man now and what he is about to endure. It’s just sad all the way around.
GO NY GIANTS!!
