Giants WR predictions: Ramses Barden edition
As everyone knows, the NY Giants have stockpiled a bunch of young, talented-but-inexperienced wide receivers. Since Plax and Amani were released, we have watched the WR competition with great interest. It's hard to predict which WR will step up and make the biggest plays from week-to-week. Manningham looked great, but that was his 1st NFL TD. Hopefully he can contribute consistently from week to week. I think Hakeem Nicks is going to be the starter by years end (I'd guess by the week after the bye), but he is out for the next several weeks.
The Giants other rookie WR, 3rd rounder Ramses Barden will be activated this week, and apparently see some game action.
I'm not sure how much action Barden will get, but I look forward to his debut. I think Moss might get more of Nick's playing time, but I think Barden will be in on "green zone" packages. We will see if the Cowboys try to single cover him inside the 10 yard line. With Jacobs in the backfield, the Cowboys could be challenged by some physical mis-matches.Coughlin indicated WR Ramses Barden will step in for injured Hakeem Nicks (foot) . . .
Let's hear your NY Giants WR predictions for this week. Maybe we can start some sort of informal pool? I think we have a lot of wildcards at WR, which could lead to some unpredictable results. What do you guys think? What surprises will we see in the passing game this week?

I voted Manningham...
but I’d really like to a Domenik Hixon sighting! And I’m psyched to see the rook’s debut…
I doubt Hagan plays beyond ST, but included him in the poll anyways…

at halftime
It’s all Manningham and Smith:
Receiving
REC YDS TD LG
S. Smith 5 81 0 32
M. Manningham 5 55 1 22
D. Hixon 1 13 0 13
What’s really concerning me though is the running game…
Rushing
ATT YDS TD LG
B. Jacobs 8 8 0 6
Bradshaw 3 4 0 7
yikes.

Be nice to see Barden in the game
If Coughlin says he’ be used like Nicks in the game, that means situational stuff and getting the ball in his hands.
I could definitely see him used down in the red zzzzzone, hopefully making it the green zone.
Still, like Nicks, I doubt that he will be the big time WR in the game if it happens that Eli is slinging it around the whole day.
Id like to think Bossman has a big day, but more than likely he’s gonna stay in to block wherever Ware is.
I think you might see 5-6 catches by Bradshaw, on screens or dumps, and should he spring a few I think that he might be the receiving star of the game…so other.
Then again, I wouldn’t underrate our top 3 of Hixon, Smith and HAM. Hixon was working with a pulled Hammy late in the year last year, specifically the week of that Cowboys game.
Out of the guys on the list, Id say Hixon. Not on the list, Bradshaw. Could be both tho….

RB's
Agreed, FB. Bradshaw will be a big receiving threat, and it seems like Jacobs has improved a bit as a receiver. But Bradshaw has had big receiving games and is clearly the #1 option out of the backfield. There is no clear #1 WR on the Giants.
I’d also like to see Beckum in the conversation, but I am leaving him out until he gets his first catch.
Out of the guys on the list, Id say Hixon.
18 votes in, none for Hixon. I’m a little surprised.

Ramses.... new go to guy for eli
This is how I think Ramses Barden is going to do. I picked him up on my fantasy Football as soon as I heard nicks was out and I started him for this weeks game. I feel that he is going to be a big target for Eli like Plaxico was.

Barden
Good post buddy! I would like to see Ramses Barden brought in immediately for all green zone activity. That is why they brought him to New York. This kid has looked great and is learning at a fast pace from everything I’ve read. Hopefully, we will see more of the rookie today. I also like Kevin Boss to have a big day, battling with Witten for the TE supremacy of the day votes.
GO NY GIANTS!!

Thanks! :-) I think even if we don’t throw to Barden much, he’s a great decoy. Cowboys have to game-plan for him.
As much as this post was about ‘Giants WR roulette’, I think Bradshaw and Boss will both be ‘top 3’ receivers for the Giants today. I hope Manningham can pick up right where he left off. We have a lot of weapons.
Glad I put up the poll. Interesting results and good participation…

I didn't see Barden out there at all.
Aside from special teams of course.
Beckum was even out there on offense. You will see Barden down the line, maybe after the bye (hopefully earlier..)

maybe sooner than later
We have a stretch of games against some “lesser” competition coming up. Maybe if we get some good leads, we can see Barden get some snaps on offense and Beckum might get more action.
