Undercard: Brandon Jacobs vs. Laron Landry

Result: B-Jake by decision.

Did anyone else see Laron Landry desperately trying to un-posterize himself all game long? First he made a late hit out of bounds on Jacobs. That gave us 15 yards and didn't faze B-Jake, so I'm taking points on that one. Then, while he was being blocked by Jacobs, I gotta admit Jacobs sort of forearm-pressed his throat and that was unnecessary. WHen Landry got ticked and threw a shove, Brandon did an obvious flop-job for the refs hoping to draw another foul. Didn't work.

Star-divide

The main event: Corey Webster vs. Santana Moss

Result: Webster by KO

Good replay on this one. Off the line of scrimmage, Santana just suddenly starts punching Webster's helmet? Picking up some points from the judges there... But it appears to me that C-Web drove Moss back about 15 yards (superior strength? Good footwork?) Into the endzone, flipped his helmet off, and finally slammed him to the ground. If that was a streetfight, the next step is to rain down the punches. Nice work C-Web. Extra points for the INT later in the game.

When is the last time our defense could single cover a big time WR?

Corey Webster is gonna make the pro bowl this year. He’s just an awesome ball hawk and his speed is underrated.

When's the last time

you seen a Giant defender with hands. That pick was awesome. All hands and the tip toe act on the sideline.

Skins Fans Whining

If you look at the blogs there is some whining among Redskin fans that Webster should have been ejected for his fight with Moss. Or they say that they both should have been ejected. That would have been very convenient for them, of course, because the Giants only dressed 3 corners for the game and Moss was a total non-factor.

Yeah because Moss

only threw FIVE punches in a row before Webster responded. That would have made perfect sense. If both went it might have made sense, but even then it would have been a rather big stretch to chuck them for that.

Roy Williams

Is going to get dominated this coming Sunday and HE KNOWS IT!

Interesting....

Corey Webster is going at it man to man, and showing Moss who the real man is and you have the ginormous Jacobs who continually provokes someone to touch him after a play and then takes a dive like he plays for Manchester United, what a punk! He is a good running back, a strong, tough runner but wtf is up with him taking dives. It is a disgrace to the game of football. People complain about making the NFL softer with the rules about hitting WRs and QBs, but this type of shit really is sad.

I think you're getting a little too heated about this particular instance...

It was obvious he was taking a dive, so much so that the refs shrugged it off. As long as the officials continue to make the right calls (or non-call in this situation) than it’s really nothing to get worked up about.

I am not that worked up about it

but it is irritating, mainly because he has gotten it called before. On top of that, the man has a huge mouth and is constantly talking shit, I think it is really weak to talk shit all week to anyone who will listen and then take a dive, don’t you? Take him off the Giants and wouldn’t you think the same thing?

Honestly...

This is the first complaint I’ve ever heard of Jacobs taking dives. I saw him do it once in the game Sunday, when he was pushed, hardly worth mentioning since it happens several times a game with several different players.

However, if defenders get upset about Jacobs mouth, so much so they are willing to make contact with him after a play, and in turn Jacobs has the smarts to take a dive and get a free 15 yards…I’m all about it.

I think you aren’t being honest with your self if you think you wouldn’t be upset if TO had been doing in Dallas or Romo got away with it. Maybe upset isn’t the word, but I will tell you that sort of stuff with Jacobs over the years is why he has replaced Brian Dawkins (and Sean Taylor once upon a time R.I.P) as the player I despise most in the NFL. (I also wish he weren’t in the NFC East, because he runs really damn hard)

Haha

I’ll be the first to admit I watch the Giants through rose colored glasses so it’s more than a possibility I’m being a bit biased…as far as RBs that run really damn hard, that #24 you got down in Dallas is nothing to sneeze at, I’ve had mucho respect for the Barbarian since day one.

Love that guy

My favorite thing about both of those runners is that they don’t just step out of bounds after a 15 yard gain, they initiate contact with the DB trying to push them out. Gotta love it

I'll drink to that
