I know you guys are tired of the whole Brett Favre saga. Shoot, we were exhausted by it before the latest chapter. I have to join the world-wide Favre-a-Palooza, though, and I promise you will enjoy it.

See, that's because while I know the folks in Minnesota are really fired up about their new, ancient quarterback I would rather talk about some of the shots others are taking at him now that he has un-retired. Again.

There is Rodney Harrison calling Favre's flip-flopping "a joke." There is Cold, Hard Football Facts dusting off all of the disastrous Favre performances of the 21st century. At Acme Packing Company, they feel betrayed. The best, though, might be former Vikings and Giants quarterback Fran Tarkenton once again expressing his disdain for No. 4.

"I really have no interest in what Brett Favre does. He kind of lost me a few years ago by retiring and unretiring and here and there," Tarkenton said on "The Opening Drive" on Sirius NFL Radio.

"I asked a few friends here, maybe 10 or 12 people we were out with last night. I said, 'What do you think about Brett Favre going back to the Vikings?' You know who cared? Nobody. It's good news for you guys. It's good news for television and so forth but the last time I heard ... football was a team sport, isn't it? It's not just about the quarterback.

"We have responsibilities we're just not athletes that are in it all for ourself, football, is it not a team game? Isn't it all about team ... and here comes Brett Favre riding in on his white horse, doesn't go to training camp, doesn't come to offseason workouts and he's gonna come on his white horse and bond with all these players."

Now, let's take a quick tour of the other fine football blogs here at SB Nation and see what else is being written about.

Some people's giant boner for Jay Cutler...

has always puzzled me. The guy has not won anything and so far there is nothing spectacular about his career; excluding of course his spectacular portrayal of a whiney bitch during the off-season.

You know what would be awesome?

If they sold Vick Jerseys that were fur-lined. Peta would have an embolism.

Which fans do you think will have the best taunting?

He’s on the road in Chicago & NY, Oakland but before he’s reinstated. He’s also visiting Atlanta, which could be special, and ends the season in Dallas.

Who the hell is Fran Tarkenton? The guy hasn’t been relevant for years. While I don’t care about how much he despises Favre, he was less that flattering to Eli a couple of months ago. Maybe its just jealousy that he’s never come home with a ring in three horrible tries or that he has to sling snake oil on late night to make a living while Favre and Manning each have hardware and wouldn’t have to do infomercials for quite a while.

I hear the Favre deal was done months ago, but he wanted to avoid as much of camp as possible so they dragged it out.

by ryanwk628 on Aug 20, 2009 1:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It woudln't surprise me at all...

the guy is delusional, he honestly believes that he has every right to do whatever he wants. Which he can, but once you start impacting the TEAM it’s a problem. Delaying it this long certainly seems like a ploy to avoid as much of camp as humanly possible….I’m actually starting to wonder if it was Favre who was giving Plaxico legal advice.

+1

The thing that cracks me up is that instead of working out with the actual team he will be playing for, he prefers to work out with high schoolers in Mississppi…THAT must really give his ego a boost.

Vick should be greeted at Giants Stadium

Tarkenton

had all the Qb passing and running records pre- 90’s, and still couldn’t win big one. So, when he says it’s all about team not individuals, he knows what he’s talking about.

by jerseybillfromva on Aug 20, 2009 4:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, Tarkenton was the wildcat, before the wildcat. Didn’t work then….won’t work now.

by njgiant on Aug 20, 2009 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wait, Tark had some great years with the Vikes.

That’s like blaming Jim Kelly for the Bills not winning the SB But for the wide right, etc. the Bills would have had one. That’s not to sa yhe should be taken seriously as an evaluator of talent.

I just read....

the disastrous Favre performances of the 21st century.

Good Lawd! It’s really funny but sad…this guy needs to retire for real…just go away Brett, please go away.

by andiamo708 on Aug 20, 2009 5:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

you gotta think...

why would you go away when you are in demand (Brett said he was done…Childress called him.) and you can make $12 mill?

I sure as shit wouldn’t walk away, who gives a rats ass what Fran Tarkenton says?

Do what Jerry Hairston do

by FreeBradshaw on Aug 20, 2009 6:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah...

but when you look at some of his numbers and some of the games they’ve lost… Favre has proven to be a liability for years….his ‘07 year was really what bought him a stay in NY and now MINN but GB couldn’t wait to usher him out the door.

and like i said, if your going to come back, be real about it and get your ass into camp….at least sit in on the meetings and learn the play book. but i guess thats pointless because he’s brett favre the gunslinger

by andiamo708 on Aug 20, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

right on.

I would hands down be the worst quarterback in the history of the NFL, or organized football for that matter, no debate. But if you call me and offer $12 mil, I’ll suit up the next day.

You play to win the game!

by Simms-McConkey on Aug 21, 2009 7:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brad Childress just deposited

his balls into Favre’s man-purse and now Favre is going to bitchslap him with it for the rest of the season.

Favre completely owns the front office of that team. They answer to his every whim.

by the_iowa_hawkeye on Aug 20, 2009 5:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We should all be thanking him.

Once again, just as people are starting to inflate the Giants’ egos, Brett Favre shows up and sucks all the air out of the room. That’s two years in a row! Thanks, Brett!
Between him, the Eagle Who Eats Beagles and Jerrypalooza, the Giants remain safely under the radar once again.

I left my swagger in my other pants.

the Eagle Who Eats Beagles

LOL. I’m gonna start using that

by cjmulrain on Aug 21, 2009 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Again, who cares...

If the guy feelsstill he can play let him play..and stop complaining about it. He’d be exciting to watch at 50..How old was George Blanda?..and he kicked as well.

by Bobbiblue on Aug 20, 2009 8:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rodney Harrison should shut his mouth

you know what else is a joke, Rodney?

You using PEDs to prolong your career…

and then allowing this to happen to a 13th-string WR.

boom.

by Caseys Kiss of Death on Aug 20, 2009 9:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Any excuse

to run that photo is a good excuse. And will be a good excuse as long as I live.

Yeah,

That catch is crazy. The caption should read……Look at Sanders as he thinks to himself “Wow, I’m wathcing the greatest catch in Superbow history”.
