Giants Notebook: Smith out Monday, Andre Brown
Mike Garafolo says Steve Smith is sitting out Monday night's game against the Panthers
John Carney, who earned a Pro Bowl nod playing for the Giants last year, is going back to New Orleans.
The Giants cannot put RB Andre Brown on IR yet, he would have to clear waivers, which would never happen.
NorthJersey.com has some notes from Saturday practice.

So this will be a Steve Smith-free game apparently
I blog the Carolina Panthers at www.catscratchreader.com
Unless my ex-father in law shows up, that was his name too, lol

i went to high school
with a steve smith. apparently that’s a common name
Giants should have kept Carney
and released Tynes. imho, at least. Carney was a beast last year! Heck, with Vinitieri out now – and declining the past couple years – I’d take Carney.

Yeah
Tynes is always hurt..and Carney is a machine..I was surprised.
Carney's getting old
really old.
Carney was perfect most of last season than misses two game breaking field goals in the playoffs.
I think there’s some correlation
don't forget the backbreaker when he was on the Saints
10 or 11 laterals at the end of the game for the TD to pull within one, and Carney shanks the XP
