Giants News: RB Andre Brown out for the year
Giants VP of Communications Pat Hanlon just sent this out on the Twitter:
Rookie RB Andrew Brown sufferes ruptured Achilles near end of practice; surgery on Tue; out for yr...tough break for rook who was doing well
Wow, too bad, the 4th round pick out of NC State was getting good reviews.

Dammit.
well…dammit.
I didn’t expect him to beat out Danny Ware for the #3, but I expected him to make a push for the #3 or even higher.
Sucks.
Dammit!
I was really looking forward to seeing him play some this year.
It’s not a huge loss to the team, but I had already sorta ‘clung’ on to him this preseason, and had some pretty high hopes.

Well it was overdue
Considering the amount of injuries suffered by the Eagles, you had to figure the Giants turn was coming up. Forget about losing him this year, I just hope he can heal up and be useful down the road (some guys never make it back to full from injury).
Yeah, in some ways it is worse than an ACL
It’s not a loss that will affect us severely, but I was also looking forward to seeing him play some. This does suck.

hoping for a successfull and speedy recovery
camp news had him a bit above Ware, really wanted to see him play on Monday :(
wow! came out from left field…
Opus smart , lascivio magis , intereo gauisus...
you know just thinking out loud...
I feel terrible for the rook, but you know it could be a blessing in disguise with keeping another person on the roster. I mean, he will most likely be on the IR and that frees up a spot on the 53, right?

Brown
was having an excellent camp. The Giants won’t say it, but he had moved ahead of Ware in the pecking order at running back. We will never know now, bur Brown could have helped this team.
From his POV,
the only good thing about the injury is that it’s treatable. Not so long ago, it would have ended his career, period.
good point George

Achilles injuries
stink, though. I know first-hand. I’ve torn my left one twice. He will have access to more care than I ever would have, but that leg will still never feel the same. It will require extra stretching and warmup, and it will always be sore after a hard game or practice.
I partially tore my left one once, I was out of commission for almost 5 months.

With a full tear
which I have done twice, it takes a full year to really feel like yourself. After about 9 months you can walk and run OK, but there is still a lot of weakness and cutting or unsteady steps are a problem.

Very unfortunate
He was looking good from the reports I’ve read..We all know somebody was going to get hurt. Yes, it factors into the final 53, but unfortunate.
">>>never feel the same...," etc.
Although far less severe, the same is true for ACL and even minicus ops. At least that’s been my experience (Three ops, a miniscus and ACL on one, a miniscus on the other.) Of course, I was in my fifties when I had the first one, so my experience may not be able to be used as a point of comparison to professional athletes far younger.)
"...never the same...," etc.
Same holds true for knees, but probably to a lesser extent. Even with just a miniscus tear, (I’ve had two plus an ACL) the knee is never the same. Of course, my ops were done in my fifties (and later), so my experience may not be a valid point of comparison for a much younger pro athlete.
Its no big deal we got depth at running back…. I got confidence in our running backs.. injuries happen that just leaves an opening for someone else to step up…
I beg to differ
It’s always a big deal to lose a good player. Any other backs get hurt and you will really be wishing Brown was still healthy. Bradshaw fans will hate me for this, but it’s entirely possible Brown would have ended up as the second-best back on this team.

I agree ED
just look at Andre’s highlights on youtube. He def was a force running the ball w/ his speed but he was incredible at catching the ball out of the backfield……….something we have been lacking since Tiki has been gone. Even though we are talking about a rookie here, this is a tremendous loss for the Giants……………………..what a shame huh?
