Boley suspended by NFL
(From the Giants) -- Michael Boley of the New York Giants has been suspended without pay for the team’s first regular-season game of 2009 for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.
Boley’s suspension begins on Saturday, September 5. He is eligible to return to the Giants’ active roster on Monday, September 14 following the team’s September 13 game against the Washington Redskins.
Boley, who underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip on June 24, may participate in all preseason practices and games. The anticipated recovery time from the surgery is 8-10 weeks. The Giants report to training camp at the University at Albany on Sunday, August 2.

I have no idea what the suspension is for, though I think we will probably get more details in the coming days.

I was just posting this, you beat me to it.
He was arrested and charged with battery when with the Falcons in 2008 after a dispute with his wife.
According to a Twitter from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants were aware of the issue when they signed him, and were fully expecting this

Hey, Jim
That’s because I’m on easy street here … getting the official press releases and all. Interesting that they reportedly knew about it.

I was just coming to fanpost
Good to see you guys are on top of it. Has to do with the domestic abuse charge from ’08 (as Jim said). Well hopefully he will be ready to sit it out against the Redskins, because if he is not ready for the first game, the suspension just shifts to the next week.

Luckily
I was in front of the computer when the press release came from the Giants. Good to see other folks on top of stuff, too.

Scammin'
If Boley was set to be ready for week 2, couldn’t the Giants just BS the league and say he was ready for Game 1, and that would be his suspension game?

this boley guy sound really sweet
check it out. also there is apparently a town near atlanta called Dacula. I wonder if it’s next door to Fankenstein.
Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.

I remember now
that the Giants knew about this issue when they signed him. It’s not clear if they knew he would get a suspension for it.
