Big Blue View heads to training camp
Since I started Big Blue View back in February of 2007 I have been able to do some things I could only dream about when I began blogging a few years ago.
I have done player interviews. I now receive press releases directly from the Giants, so I can bring you news without needing to wait for someone else to report it. I occasionally receive books to review, which is a very cool perk.
Well, when training camp opens Monday maybe the coolest happening of all will begin for me.
Big Blue View is heading to training camp, and the Giants have been kind enough to grant me full press credentials for the entire month the Giants are at UAlbany!
That means I will have on-field access during practices, along with the mainstream media members who cover the Giants year-round. I will also have the same access to players, coaches and team officials that the rest of the media covering camp will have.
That's exciting for me, and great news for Big Blue View. It means we have come a looooong way in 21/2 years, and we are now recognized as playing in the big leagues.
As for what type of coverage you will see, I'll just play that by ear. I can't promise you I will be at every practice (I live near UAlbany and life can get in the way). I will be there as often as possible, however, and will bring you as much original material as I can.
The first practice is Monday. If you are planning to head in to Albany to watch a practice or two, here are directions to the campus.
From the North: Take Interstate 87 (Northway) south to Exit 1E. Off the exit, proceed to Interstate 90 east (Albany/Boston). Take Exit 2 (Washington Avenue) which leads right into the University at Albany campus. Follow University Drive (heading south) 3/4 of mile to Dutch Quad parking lot (public) and one mile to Recreation & Convocation parking lot (Giants/VIP).
From the South: Take Interstate 87 (Thruway) north to Exit 24. After the tollbooths, proceed onto Interstate 90 east towards Boston. Take Exit 2 (Washington Avenue) which leads right into the University at Albany campus. Follow University Drive (heading south) 3/4 of mile to Dutch Quad parking lot (public) and one mile to Recreation & Convocation parking lot (Giants/VIP).
From the East: Take Interstate 90 west towards Buffalo. Leave interstate at Exit 2 (Fuller Road). Turn left at Fuller Road, and then take next left at Washington Avenue. The University at Albany campus is on your right. Upon entering campus, follow University Drive (heading south) 3/4 of mile to Dutch Quad parking lot (public) and one mile to Recreation & Convocation parking lot (Giants/VIP).
From the West: Take Interstate 90 (Thruway) east to Exit 24. After the tollbooths, proceed onto Interstate 90 east towards Boston. Leave interstate at Exit 2 (Washington Avenue) which leads right into the University at Albany campus. Follow University Drive (heading south) 3/4 of mile to Dutch Quad parking lot (public) and one mile to Recreation & Convocation parking lot (Giants/VIP).
From the UAlbany Web site, here is some information on parking.
Giants training camp all-session parking passes are available at UAlbany's Athletic Merchandise Store, located in the SEFCU Arena Lobby. An all-session parking pass is $15. The daily parking fee is $5.

Never know
The media world is changing slowly. This is a sign of that.

Congrats
I’m relatively new here (6 mos or so) and loving it. You do a great job!!!
Livin' the dream, man!
Remember to act like ya been there for years!
This is the first and only fan site I’ve ever joined or participated in (because I never found another quite that worthwhile), and frankly, I don’t think it’s hyperbole or ass-kissing to say it’s simply the best site of its kind.
Here we are in July getting multiple stories per day, with a mature and informed membership to examine every angle. Within a few years they’re going to make us pay for this site!
You play to win the game!

Maybe not all?
I will also have the same access to players
Not Pierce, he’ll be over in the corner tweeting! lol
Seriously though, doing an awesome job with the site and presenting info that’s available!
Congrats man
Good to see your hard work is paying off.
Good for you Ed..
You do an outstanding job on this site.
Excellent job Ed!
Here’s what I’m hoping to find out:
-Which WR looks like our go to guy? Hixon? Smith? Nicks?
-Which RB is the heir apparent to Ward? Bradshaw? Ware?
-Are we overhyping our defense or is it the real deal?
Well
I will give you what I can in terms of practice reports. I will be there as much as possible, providing life does not intervene.

Good job, Ed!
It’s like, one of us ants made it out of the bottom of the juice glass by standing on each others’ shoulders.

congrats!
I’m another fairly new member and this is the only blog I am apart of so far. I was delighted to find a site with informative articles as well as intelligent people commenting. I was tired of all the idiotic/immature comments by people who don’t know a damn thing about football on all those other sites.
Job well done.
LETS GO GMEN
Thank you
Yes, we frown on a lot of the ‘sophomoric’ stuff here. My belief is that if you don’t have something intelligent to say, then you aren’t moving the conversation forward. So, keep that to yourself.

Congrats Ed!
Nice to see that you’ll get some insider access. Its one thing to even go to these training camps, but to actually be there and maybe get a quote or two from Jacobs?
THAT would be nice. I wanna know what Justin Tuck thinks of all this training camp stuff and hear it first on BBV!
When is the Valentine Big Blue Barbecue and Pool Party?
Great work Ed, nobody knows more than me how hard you work on this site, how much of your life goes into it. We appreciate all the info you’ll be bringing us, but remember to have some fun too, and uhhhh, you think you can teach Eli that whole bothersome spiral thing?

Well ...
first I have to get the pool. Sadly, a pool is not one of the SB Nation perks. As for Eli, you know I did play QB thru the 8th grade. Maybe I’ll see if I can spare some time to help him out :-)

I'd like to put in an order for free stuff, if I may.
Any sort of random Giants-logo’d items laying around the facilities unattended will do. Use your discretion, naturally.

Oh, yeah
And my two sons want autographs and a chance to hang out and meet players. That would look real professional, asking for autographs. But, hey, you never know what might be lying around on the ground. LOL!!

will be interesting
to see how the wide receivers shake out. Also will be interesting to see if Osi returns to form and Bradshaw rises to the occaision with Ward gone. Contrats on the access. Looks forward to reading your posts.
Just dont forget where you started
Mr EtVal
It would save the Giants Defence a lot of time if QBs just stayed down!
