Mind if I jinx the G-Men?
I was looking at the Giants schedule today, and I couldn't help but notice that other than the beastly East, it looks pretty weak! This is in part thanks to playing the pathetic AFC West.
We start off with 2 divisional games, which we know can always go either way, although we hope to perform well against the Skins (20) and Boys (14). Then, (using ESPN Power rankings) we play the Bucs (26), Chiefs (29), and Oakland (30). Then it's off to see the Jeremy Shockeys Saints (19). Week 7 sees the Cards, who may field a good team but also could be spent after last year. ESPN calls them a generous 12 seed. Week 8 is of course the perennial offseason champs. Before the bye it's the Chargers, and hopefully Eli will have a chip on his shoulder from a few seasons back.
Anything can happen. Eli could get Brady'd in Week 1. We could lose to the Raiders (see: 2008 Browns). The Cowboys could smoke us with a vengeance. But we couldn't really ask for a better schedule.
In the second half, Denver doesn't look too fierce. Atlanta is good and could be a good indicator of where we are. I'm hoping Carolina is on the decline; by Week 17 Minnesota will hopefully be out of contention (and hopefully they don't face our backups again.) The toughest stretch no doubt is weeks 13-15, with 3 grueling divisional games that we should just pray for no injuries. Fortunately 2 are at home. If Carolina is strong again this year, weeks 13-16 could really take a lot out of the tank!
I'd love to hear others' take on the sched. It's sure a hell of a lot better than last year's, when we beat every team in both conference championship games!

I call average overall
though the three straight divisional games is rather nasty. As is the 13-16 stretch (Carolina will still be good to quite good I think).
I'm thinking non-div.
since no matter the relative strength or weakness, it’s usually between 2-4 and 4-2.
I think somewhat weak, because SD and ATL could be tough games. On the other hand, you gotta love playing 3 of the worst teams in the NFL in TB, KC, OAK. Beats the hell out of PIT and BAL!
You play to win the game!

Good points
Looking at the schedule I dont know how I feel about the 3 straight road games after the opener…
The AFC West is one of the, if not the weakest division and I am pretty excited about playing them.
Just like most of the media, you're all living in the past when it comes to the Raiders.
Yeah, I’m biased, as they’re my favorite AFC team. But, for the first time in a long time, they’ve made some serious strides to turn themselves around. They’re not the joke that they used to be. I still think the Giants are going to beat them in this preview of my dream Super Bowl match up… but that would have less to do with the Raiders being bad, and more to do with the Giants simply being a great team with a terrifying defense. Regardless of the outcome, this is one game that I’m going to love watching this season.

Everyone writes off the Raiders
but I think they could surprise.
They have actually an excellent running game. If DHB is any sort of NFL player and J-Russ can actually figure out something about the QB position, they could be dangerous. Their D is pretty good too.
The passing game is a big if tho. They kinda actually remind me of the Giants in that sense. But unlike the Giants, J-Russ is rated as he should be (unlike Eli, who’s better than people think), the Raiders running game can’t hold a candle to the Giants, and their D is not the Giants…….
The division sucks with the Chiefs and Browns being horrible, the Chargers find ways to lose too. All said and done, the Raiders will be lucky to go 7-9 (tho that could mean the division!!!).
As a side note, even if the Raiders are also my AFC team, those A-holes still beat the Bucs and allowed the Pigeons to get in the playoffs. Still doesn’t excuse losing to them, but Id always rather not face a Beast team in the playoffs….damn spoilers.

Friendly correction
Division consists of Chiefs, Broncos and Chargers. That said, the Browns are horrible also. I agree with you that the Raiders could surprise and I’m wondering if Garcia will take that job from J-Russ. I think Garcia and his experience would give them the best chance to win.

I get the temptation
but trying to predict a schedule is such a crapshoot. Last year the Ravens, Falcons, and Cardinals looked like easy wins for teams who had them, and they all turned out to be damn good teams. Other than the Lions, I don’t think there’s any team I’d be willing to bet my bank account on being a terrible team this year.
D a question
we all no thats the giants d line and linebackers are the best in the league but what about the backfield who can we rely on there and the offense will only get better although ward is gone nicks will be a good fourth or third recievr and well all get to see the true magic of steve smith the man is sick
David Ortiz took steroids too.... oh and manny....
