Eagles Def. Coordinator
OK I'll be the first to agree that I'm a little nervous of having Sheridan as our new coordinator, just because change causes that. However I feel things will stay the same and he will do a good job. I read almost everyday how the Eagles are a better team than the Giants because of this and that and in some areas I might have to agree but NOBODY and I mean NOBODY is talking about the Eagles losing there Def. Coordinator and further more that he is a 35 year old with very limited coaching experience?? What's up with that..
At least big Bill has been around a little while and has been coaching in this system for a few years, as for the Mcdermott guy from Philly, these websites and newspapers need to start talking about what kind of impact that is going to have on them. I mean there are players older than him and he has no coordinator experience at all. UH OH Philly......

i would say it's a tie
I was confused about the scheduled press conference, didn’t they announce this months ago, or I guess it was just temporary then?

Are you kidding?
Jim Johnson is talked about constantly as the Eagles’ biggest concern this year, which I happen to agree with.
However, I’ll note that Sean McDermott has been with the Eagles for 11 years, so it’s not exactly like he hasn’t been around the block.
It’s also worth mentioning Jim Johnson’s Bill Walsh-esque coaching tree that is developing… Steve Spagnuolo, John Harbaugh, Leslie Frazer, etc. I have confidence that McDermott can step right in a do a great job. Will the Eagles be hurt by the loss of Johnson? Only an idiot would say no. But it’s no more a loss than the Giants losing Spagnuolo.

Of all people, Giants fans should know how good his proteges are.
Three of his ex assistants have coached defenses to superbowls… A fourth got really close this year.. So there’s every reason to believe McDermott, who Spags tried to name his DC this year before the Eagles blocked it, will do quite well.

the past means nothing
Just because others in the past have done well, doesn’t mean every coach who has coached under a certain coach will be good. I never said he would be bad or good, I said there is going to be a learning curve and it should be of concern and be talked about by the mainstream media.
I am a current offensive coordinator at a college(not Div.1 but..) I have seen it plenty that a new coordinator struggles and the players struggle to adjust. Does the fact he will run the same things mean it will be the same ? No, it may help with the transition but nothing is in stone. I mean Spags is an example, the Giants struggled out of the gate his first year 0-2 and if not for one play they would have been 0-3 in the Washington game it just so happened that it went our way and the rest is history but one play could have changed everything so to assume because he has been there for 11 years he will just step in and nothing changes is a very big misnomer

Eneough with the Eagles...
I couldnt care less who they have as a Def Coach..As far as I am concerned they have McThrowup as QB ..whose claim to fame is blowing out chunks with 5 mins left in the biggest game of his career and a bunch of fans who claim they are tough because they Boo Santa Claus and cheer when injured players are carted off the field.. I hope the media keeps on playing these guys up so we can sneak under the radar again !!!

I don’t throw the term “douche” around lightly, but you, sir, are a douche.
Here’s a better place for someone like you…

We talk sports here ???
Your on a Giants board ..posting pictures of Uncle Sam with vulgar insults …I think you should look in mirror my friend lolllll…..We talk Big Blue in here not about some team that has NEVER won a Super Bowl and a fan base whose vulgar classless behavior was confirmed by your ridiculous post….

Broad Street Bullies lollll
Another “Gritty team” from Philly that shows how “tough” Philly fans are lollll…Giants dont use terms like “Douche” either nor do we cheer when Michael Irvin gets carted off the field with a possible spine injury… We dont boo Santa Claus or act like morons when opposing fans come to our stadium and root for their team.. Nor do we have a reputation across the country as a rude crude classless fan base and lastly We would never stoop to your level and go on a Philly message board and post about our team and post vulgar pictures … Pretty sad commentary when your city’s most famous athlete and icon is a fictional athlete …Then again you would have probably booed him too after Mr.T whupped his ass lolll

December 23, 1995...
Are you familiar what happened in Giants Stadium that day?

YES and I was there
I am a Giants season ticket holder.. and that bum was banned and the season tickets were revoked… You sure you want to bring up disgusting moments …???
by MUSKRAT on Jul 26, 2009 3:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
"That bum?"
15 people were hurt, 15 people arrested, and 175 people were ejected from the stadium., so let’s not pin this one on one guy.
And sure, I’ll bet you can do a quick search on things that have happened at Philadelphia sporting events… In fact go ahead… I’ll wait…
OK, are you back? Good. Now check any other city and you’ll find they’ve ALL had some ugly moments. So let’s see ’em.

Right, so now I guess anything that happens at a bar near a Philly stadium is chalked up to “bad fans.”
And by the way, happily posting a link about a guy that was beaten to death to help prove a point? Pretty classy move, douche.

This thread is reminding me of an old saying
“Who is more fool? The fool, or the fool that follows the fool?”

Please
stop this ignorant banter. We get it. Football fans get drunk. Football fans get rowdy. Football fans do stupid things sometimes. In all cities. Not just NYC, not just Philly. As a matter of fact, at almost all sporting events everywhere.
I recently moved to the Midwest, and had been jonesing for some educated NY sports banter like what I used to have with my friends back home. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this site, and was even raving to my uncle about it over the weekend.
I hope I didn’t speak too soon.

you haven't spoke too soon
don’t let one of our annoying (relatively new) posters get in the way of your opinion of BBV. As i’ve said before, this is the best forum for Giants Fans on the Internet because Ed not only knows what he’s talking about, but he also allows for the common fan to have his or her say.

Not sure who your referring to Villanova
but if it is I am neither new nor do I apologize for posting about Big Blue …not appeasing an Eagles fan who is on Giants blog throwing out vulgarities when presented facts… Then again I see your moniker and notice the Philly connections … ah well.. In a moment of silence I do offer my sympathy to the Johnson family on their loss..

is the common fan of the GIANTS ??? a guy with the moniker B Dawkins :: ( ..if so that is a pretty sad commentary on a Giants Blog.. )

Midwestern Guy
My apologies to you as I didnt mean to offend .. However as being a long time Giants fan … and an ardent sports fanatic and a hard core NY fan… I am a section 203/39 fan for the Yanks and sit behind the 30 yrd line 2 level up ..Home End Zone.. I and the fans of the Giants and Yankees stadium embrace our rivals … however You dont come into our house or Our Blogs and become over zealous with your teams ..especially the Red Sox /Eagles/Cowboys /Phillies /Skins… While we wont beat assault you ..or insult you when you come back at us with intelligence instead of cursing at you with insults a 2 yr old would use… we will come back with Passion …. In the midwest I would equate it with a Cubs/Cards type of thing or a Notre Dame /USC thing … As for the guy from Villanova apologizing for my behavior … he can can that crap … I was going to Giants games before he was born and I ve been to the Veterans Stadium as well as the new Eagles place … as well as Phillies games and of course Fenway.. Being behind a keyboard and saying Douche and posting pictures with Uncle Sam on it is downright disgraceful( yes I am a veteran as well) and you my ignorant friend Dawkins can say THANK YOU instead of you using Uncle Sam to berate me … In all my years as a sports fan I have never seen such despicable behavior from Philly fans ( and this includes a trip to the Black Hole in Oakland) not at Fenway ..not anywhere …It is pretty amusing that the Villanova guy is a Mets fan and is sticking up for this guy … He should know from experience as a Mets fan how Philly fans are and how they act ..I just know as Yankees and Giants fan the last thing you would see is me in the stands at an Eagles Game or a Red Sox game screaming vulgarities at the hometown fan… Let alone a blog where it takes real courage to act like keyboard tough guy … GO GMEN !!

Jim Johnson..
Was an awesome coach and mentor..He gave us Giants fans fit’s, then gave us Spags..I think Sheridan will do just fine..Look at the defense we have gathered for 2009..My thing is more importantly hoping his (Jim’s) family is coping with their loss..God bless him, we know where you are now, Jim you are teaching defensive philosophy to St. Peter..The Devil best be careful now..You’ll put a gameplan together for all of us. God bless you and your family.
