See you next Wednesday.
Kidding. Believe it or not, there are some stories making headlines around the NFL that are not related to #4, here are some of them:
- So first came the rumors that the NFL was considering moving Championship games to neutral sites. Then we heard the Super Bowl may someday be played in London. Now the NFL is considering a second regular game overseas. I can't wait to bring you next week's "lousy NFL idea". Any suggestions on what it might be? Moving the Giants to the AFC West? Changing the start times for Sunday games to 3 AM?
- Pat Tillman's parents want the military to review the record of the general who mischaracterized their son's death.
- Jet RB's are a tad disgruntled.
- Well that didn't take long: Mike Holmgren says he is ready to get back into the NFL.
- Browns head coach Eric Mangini isn't making many friends in Cleveland.
- SI.com ranks the best and worst owners in the NFL. I love seeing those numbers on the purchase price for the Giants, and their current worth. Tim Mara Sr.: Smartest man ever?
And I love seeing Danny Boy in the Worst 5.
Have a great week everybody!

Some thoughts on owners
The Eagles really are impressive. Their only bad years in the last 10 are years where the franchise QB went down, usually to a fluke injury. It’s not as if most teams have top talent backing up that spot.
Say what you will about Snyder, but that team makes an ungodly amount of money. From an owners point of you, I guess there’s nothing wrong that team. Living in DC, I can tell you, DC fans are so easily swayed by expectations. After every win, they’re going to the Super Bowl, after every loss they’re on the cliff. The fact remains is that Snyder’s flashy approach generates interest and optimism (no matter how unfounded) and will always generate ticket sales.

So he’s a bad owner but a great salesman?

I vote Al Davis as the All-Time # 1 Worst Owner in NFL History
Simply for not having taken Kevin Gilbride off our hands!!!! Maybe you’re not as crazy as we think???

i think taking the NFL international is a good idea
the championship games at nuetral sites is a meh, but i dont see whats bad about more games or the superbowl in other countries. i only go to MAYBE 1 game a year these days so as long as i get to watch on tv its not a problem. and if they had another game or two to the regular season, season ticket holders arent missing anything. sounds exciting to me.
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON. WE WANT THE MANSION NOT THE CONDO.

I know AL Davis is batshyte crazy
and he’s running a circus out there right now, but shouldn’t he get some bonus points for probably being one of the top 3 or 4 owners in the NFL for almost 40 years? I mean, he’s won 3 SB’s, and they were usually competitive up through the 90’s until the SB loss against Tampa. How could he possibly be a worse owner than Ford, who’s NEVER had success, and just watched his team go 0-16?

He also had the stones to stand up to the league all those times he wanted to move. He was a brilliant man in his day, I just think the game has passed him by.

he was from an era without a cap
One of the reasons I’m interested to see if Parcells succeeds

I know Im a
bit of a homer, but why is Robert Kraft above the Mara and TIsh????
I know he is successful as any, but he is only there 12 years. THe Giants have more playoffs, championships and a better winning% than the Rooneys. So why are they in 3rd?
Id say second cuz of the fact the Steelers have more SB’s.

Kraft's only been there 12 years
and they’ve won 3 Super Bowls, lost another, and been a very good team just about every year. I think I’d put the Maras over him, but they did have a period where they probably weren’t the greatest of owneres, during the so called “wilderness years.” Either way, they’re both great owners.
BTW, a New York team made one of the lists for every sport. The Steinbrenners were the #4 MLB oweners, Charles Wang was the #3 worst NHL owner, and Dolan was the #2 worst NBA owner. Can’t argue with the Steinbrenners b/c of what George has accomplished, but I don’t know how much confidence I’d have in his kids if I were a Yankees fans. I’d take a wait and see approach before saying they’re good owners.

Great owners plus
A great GM. That’s a good combo to have.
I think the NFL is just floating all these ideas just to gauge public and media opinion. There’s already a story that the owners will not be voting on expanding the regular season any time soon.

pretty sweet deal
which begs the question, which was the better investment in New York City history:
The Mara family buying the Giants for $500
or
The Dutch buying Manhattan for the equivalent of $24
