Giants' rookie mini-camp, Day 2
Here are some of the notable items from the reports on Saturday's pair of New York Giants' rookie mini-camp practices.
- After the morning workout, Mike Garafolo says Tom Coughlin ran down a list of the undrafted guys he had noticed.
- In MG's afternoon report, he noted that Ramses Barden had a good day until leaving with a possible hamstring injury. Oh, and 'NY17' will be unhappy to note that Micah Rucker missed the entire day because of a hamstring pull.
- Ralph Vacchiano notes that undrafted free agent linebacker Kenny Ingram has caught the eye of linebacker coach Jim Herrmann.
- Vacchiano also reported that the Giants signed six 'tryout' players.

"Oh, and 'NY17' will be unhappy..."
UNHAPPY…?? UnHappy? (read like Herm Edwards yelling " PLAYOFFS??")
You’re lucky this a family oriented website or I’d tell you EXACTLY the words that came out my mouth!!!!!
as Penn State Homer
Maurice Evans might be a huge find. This guy would have been at least a 3rd rounder if he came out last year
He's a player
If he’s got his act together, I’d love to see Evans make the team. I could easily see him supplanting Tollefson. He was a monster at PSU before he lost his focus.

Evans
My guess is the best Evans could hope for with all the depth the Giants already have on the defensive line is practice squad. But, hey, if he is a player you never know.

Ed, You've hit on actually one of my "concerns"
If I remember correctly, the league now allows 7 guys on the practice squad (PS).
HOW in the world can we possibly protect all the talented players we’ve “picked up”?
Is a “first year” player protected on the PS where a player who’s been on a game roster is exposed? I’m not tryin to test you on your NFL rules skills here or I’d be asking ya to do the Salary Cap calculation for us free hand :-)
We can't
That, quite simply, is one of the things that happen when you have an upper echelon team. There is no way to avoid the fact that some of the players the Giants will be forced to let go will latch on elsewhere and be productive. I’d rather have it that way, and have great competition for spots, than be wondering why we didn’t have any decent players.

I'm cool with that problem...
as long as RUCKER isn’t a casualty of the " We can’t let a draft pick go, so we’ll have to save face and put the better player at risk" philosophy
Who goes, who stays,
what moves JR makes all add up to more than usually interesting (and entertaining) days between now and the opening game. Not to mention all the opportunities for bloviating it will provide all BBVers

Bloviating! Gotta love it.

Bloviating??
and I just complimented him on his “thrust and parry” comment in another post…
NOW I’m gonna have to go out and buy a dictionary to keep up with him!!!
is THIS what you were doin in the boonies?? Thinkin up words to mess with your BBV friends’ heads???
'tis but an opportunity, Ed.
One must seize it to raise high the gonfalons of bloviation as I myself have done on lo so many legendary occasions aided, I must admit, not by a dollop but rather a hogshead of eighteen year old Kickapoo Joy Juice.
Good God!
It’s Monday morning, George. You’re killing me here. Of course, I’m wondering why you wrote this at almost 2 in the morning. LOL!!

I often walk,
talk and yes, even post whilst still in the arms of Morpheus.
evans...
I think it might be worth looking into dropping a d-tackle to make room for him if he’s good enough.. since Canty will be playing both end and tackle.. that won’t be hard to do. This kid is a first round talent.
