MG: Nothing to Edwards rumor

Part of MG's report:

I'm comfortable telling you there is nothing to this latest rumor.

Now, I'm not saying this can't happen in the future. Talks could spark up again -- perhaps around draft time. As I wrote on Friday after the Giants cut Plaxico Burress, someone familiar with the progress of talks said it's unlikely but not out of the realm of possibilities.

So, much ado about nothing. For now.

This is why

You have to be really, really careful about what you take as ‘fact.’ Even the radio station this came from said it was never a report, just a discussion. I felt like I had to put it on the site, but I tried to be sure people understood we didn’t know if there was any truth to it. Always wait until you hear something ‘official’ before you take it as fact.

i'm sure

that someone from one side leaked this out. an agent perhaps but it would certainly be very helpful for the giants. we would still have 8 picks left in the draft and with Jerry & Co those 8 picks are sure to be solid.

I’ve been hoping more for Boldin because of his size but the Giants don’t want someone who is going to be a problem.
