I've stated that I like both Boldin and Edwards but was leaning towards Edwards because of his ability to strech the field and his 16 yard per catch avg. I know Bolden is know for his play after the catch but I was playing with some numbers and it seems that we already have a Boldin (Steve Smith).
Last year, Smith played in 16 games, had 57 catches for 574 yards, 35 first downs and a 10.1 avg. Boldin played in less games (12) and had 89 catches for 1038 yards, 56 first downs and a 11.7 avg. Smith averages 3.5 catches per game and Boldin averages 7 catches per game. Boldin was on pace for catching 112 balls at 1300 yards. If Smith had caught that many, he'd have a little of 1100 yards.
My point, on average, Boldin caught twice the balls as Smith per game. Pound for pound, Smith's and Boldin's stats are very comparable. I go with Edwards.
