I hate hockey. But, you know, there are no football games being played and a man has to find a way to entertain himself somehow. This is a lovely member of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers Blue Crew. Maybe I need to pay more attention to hockey.

You want entertainment???

I love hockey (I’ve got a 20’ × 50’ rink in my backyard)

I propose the BBVHL. It’s played like hockey with two teams of 20 of these beauties. Ten skaters from each team on the ice at time. No stoppages in play. Girls are rewarded for clutching, grabbing and holding. Bonus points for fighting.

Ed, you can be the commisioner, I’ll be the director of players and personnel.
What’d ya think?

BBVHL footnote

Play will consist of three 20 minute sessions called “THIRDS” not periods!!!

Yeah

He will keep getting banned, then keep coming back as whatever else for a while. We will play this dumb little game until we get him banned for good.

How can anyone who likes football...

…hate hockey?

Two of the toughest, manliest sports on the planet. Both go hand in hand with one another.

Much better than the big pansy sports of basketball and baseball.

TELL'EM JONATHAN!!!

I caught part of the Rangers/ Bruins game Sunday and was thinking the same thing!!!
It’s got to be the rules that are a turnoff.

Lord knows it can’t be Lil’ Miss Sqeeegy here!!!!!!

Hockey

It’s funny. We have a minor league hockey team near where I live, and I enjoy taking my son to games a couple times a year. I just have no interest in actually following the sport.

go to an NHL game and you'll be blow away but the difference

It’s like the NFL compared to high school football. Same sport, TOTALLY different talent level!! The speed and quality of play is unbelievable!!!

As a life long hockey fan, I can understand that it’s a you LOVE IT or you have no feelings for it kind of sport. It’s like soccer for me. I just don’t get the excitement about it? How big would the net have to be to have a 5 to 3 score???

Following the NHL playoffs is the way to enjoy following it.

Hockey, or at least hockey players have changed more than

baseball and football players. The days of the small, flashy Frenchmen, awesome skaters, are gone Gradually ,bigger guys got into the NHL, lumbering enforcers like Dave Schultz. Now the majority are big and they can skate. Seeing those football-size whipping around at blinding speed is awesome. I never thought I’d see the day.
It’s worth the life of a little guy to be out there among them. I’m not sure even a talent like Rod Gilbert could make it these days. I think the rinks should be made larger so we could see more of those whippet-fast, little skaters with their whiplash moves. Sunday, I’m taking two of my grandkids to a Rivermen game. We’ll be sitting in the front row, right behind the glass.

Are you referring to the

legendary Albany River Rats? Love that name, even better than the Elmira Jackals.

I was thinking the same thing

and I have a theory that the pace of hockey is too much for the uninitiated to follow. Football is crazy action for several seconds, but then they take about 30-40 seconds and to get the next play started. In hockey, you can have several minutes of back and forth action, changing on the fly, and the fact that the puck moves fast and is tough at times to track (for those not raised on the game), it becomes a bit too much (also the rules are a common hating point as well).

Football and Hockey are both great, with incredible precision, speed, finesse, and jaw dropping displays of skill, but perhaps the fact that Hockey is often seen as “a series of mistakes” (as Skip Bayless calls it) is the largest turn off. Mind you, I personally think the biggest problem with Hockey is the marketing and how the NHL presents itself; saturday afternoon games (go to saturday nights, networks don’t show anything of worth and no other major league sport uses that time), being on Versus (get back on ESPN, if they can find room between the poker and billiard and bowling, none of which are true, 100% real sports), and the rape and pillaging of the Canadian teams in the 1990’s (the moving of the Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix has been a massive disaster, and Colorado only had any success thanks to those low years the Nordiques had in Quebec City). They also do themselves no favours by continuing to withhold a franchise from Hamilton (southern Ontario has a massive population and not all of them are Toronto or Buffalo fans).

Anyhow, enough spouting about hockey, let’s get back to some New York Football Giants conversation!

I think you're right about the speed

After watching night after night of baseball playoffs I walked into a bar with a hockey game on and I staggered back from the TV because to was SO fast paced it was a shock. (NO, it wasn’t the drinks!! (yet)) I had to shake my head and say, Ok, it’s hockey not 3 and 1/2 hours of waiting. I enjoy baseball but it is like being sedated!!!

The NHL commissioner SHOULD be hung. He thought he’d help the league by moving teams to big markets and killed the heart of the sport. It’s a SHAME!!!
I was a WHALERS fan and that bastard took the team and moved it to Raleigh!!! HARTFORD to NORTH CAROLINA???

Are you out of your Fing mind???
(I gotta go…)
