Braylon Edwards for Kiwi ??
I saw this rumor floating around today: Braylon for Kiwanuka.
http://ballhype.com/story/more_browns_trade_rumors_braylon_edwards_for_mathias/
Based on our recent acquisitions on the Defensive Line I would say go for it. I know Braylon had a rough year, but he has all the tools to be the deep threat we may be looking for. I still think Kiwi has a lot of upside but I have a feeling Canty would emerge as the starter if they went head to head in training camp....Thoughts ?

no way
that canty could play right end… he’s not a speed rusher like you usually need
It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

canty is not a starter at end
period, they are talking about situationally using him at end. Jay Alford played a couple of snaps last year at end off the bench. he is not a 4-3 end, it’s not the same thing
we've got at least 9 picks.
Package a pick or two to move up for an impact receiver of trade picks for Edwards. keep Kiwi. Defensive rotation looks awesome…..on paper.
agreed
i still think Kiwi has the potential to be a big-time player. the Giants have a lot of other options other than trading Kiwi to get a #1 WR before the season starts.

Harrison??
what about Marvin…………Canty was a great pick up , the mans a man among men out there…….6`7 300+ , Not chasing down Eli anymore may i add , is gonna be fine at tackle or End , robbins and cofield are keepers for the middle bernard will help that with canty tukk osi kiwi at the ends, what a rotation it will be…..bring Plax back , sign a vet. to replace toomer , draft linebacker , WR and RB………..
I wouldn't be against it.
Two things:
- If we can trade someone/something other than Kiwi (like picks), that would be better.
- I’d prefer Boldin or Calvin Johnson, if they’re to be had.

Thoughts
(1) Marvin H will retire. Simple as that. Read the MMQB. Harrison is done. And even if he isn’t, he’s washed up and hasn’t been a #1 for years (See Wayne, Reggie). What does Harrison give you that Toomer couldn’t? I’m against going after Marvin H.
(2) I don’t know where the Calvin Johnson talk came from. I just don’t see why Detroit would ever even consider trading him. And the price tag would be SO HIGH for him, I think it wouldn’t even be worth it in the first place? I mean Detroit would likely want a king’s ransom for him – and why not? He is a complete stud and was the only bright spot on an otherwise abysmal team. Detroit would likely tell you to pound sand. Boldin on the other hand, is obviously out there…..
And yeah – I’d be against trading Kiwi as well! It would seem to me that the Braylon for Kiwi rumors are being thrown out there by someone associated with the Browns (either a fan or otherwise) to drive up his value. But yeah, given his AWFUL play last yr, Braylon simply isn’t worth kiwi right now.
The only thing is, if you were Detroit
Would you want a great WR with absolutely no supporting cast, or trade him for pieces of a bigger puzzle (i.e. draft picks, starters, etc.)?

If I were the Detroit GM I’d shop Johnson for the highest bidder, looking for the kind of deal Jerry Jones got when he traded Hershell Walker to the Vikes. If he can’t get something like Jones did, fine, forget it. But the Lions have lots of holes, some of which might be able to be plugged by players they could get in exchange for Johnson. If they got the right players in exchange, they’d be a better team.
Boldin
is not obviously out there. Those rumors are out there because of his agent, who is trying to pull the Chad Johnson. The Cardinals have no reason to trade him. He’s under a contract very favorable to them and he’s a good player and a warrior to boot. No way does he go anywhere. It just makes absolutely no sense for the Cardinals and they hold all the leverage.
Totally agree on Johnson. Why trade your only star? And he only makes $3.5 million? Teams don’t trade away contracts that are so favorable. That’s why neither of these guys are going anywhere.
One reason why they'd trade Boldin.
Team chemistry.
As for Johnson, I only see them trading him if, like blue gonz and I said above, the Lions can get a plethora of pieces (Herschel Walker to the Vikings is a great comp). And nice contracts don’t do anything when you’re 0-16 and fighting for ticket revenue.

ticket revenue
the lions did a great job selling tickets last year.. it won’t be a problem. Detroit has very loyal fans

But what about this coming year, with the Big Three car companies failing and Detroit, the city, going down in flames (figuratively)?

thats a good point
but the big three have been failing for years now and detroit’s always been a S**thole so that’s not as much of a problem.

I get
team chemistry, but I’m sure the Cards organization don’t see this guy as a problem child. He’s been a great teammate and if you force him back without a new contract, he’ll play his butt off anyway. From everything I’ve heard about the guy he’s a very upstanding individual. He won’t hurt chemistry and the Cardinals know it.
How about
Someone like Dwayne Bowe or Greg Jennings?

not a chance in hell that either gb or kc give them up
i love the 2 of them but they are both young rising stars and they are both way to valuable to their teams to go anywhere
bowe had a great 1st 2 seasons w/o a half decent quarterback now he has matt cassel his numbers are going to be great this year

I disagree with trading Kiwi. That said, welcome to BBV.

I have an idea for how to shore up wide receiver without losing any picks or players
How about Plaxico Burress?
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Mar 5, 2009 12:45 AM EST reply actions
Yes,
but he definitely won’t be around for at least half a season and maybe more due to his legal troubles and possible suspension. The Giants have to move on like he’s not going to be there.
Don't you think
That the league could give him credit for the four games he was suspended for and possibly the one playoff game? Sort of a time served arrangement. I think the fact that the Giants Management were very firm with him bodes well for his overall situation. This isn’t a Bengals situation.

that's not what he said
he said that he wasn’t going to suspend him at that point because the case hasn’t been adjudicated.
