Open thread for the day
Open thread for a very sunny, spring-like Sunday here in upstate New York.
Chat about whatever you like, as long as it is sports-related. NCAA hoops, baseball, whatever. Even a little Giants if you want to.
By the way, am I the only one still kicking himself for not staying up to watch the six-overtime Syracuse-Connecticut game the other night?

Amani Toomer
I am anxious to know the future. I would imagine if no one picks him up is he still a Giant?
Toomer
won’t be back. The Giants are moving on, and he wants more playing time than the Giants will give him. He was a great Giant, and I wish him well.

I second queler's motion.
He’s been an excellent GIANT, but before we write him off as dead…
I’d invite him back to camp! Wouldn’t that be fair?
What’s the harm in that???
Toomer
He’s a unrestricted free agent this year which means he is no longer under contract with the Giants and after the trash talk at the end of the season i don’t expect him to return. That said i still love him for the things he brought us Giants fans, from the touchdown catch to beat the undefeated broncos to all his sideline tip toe catches and my favorite the opening drive TD against the Cowboys during our superbowl run in the playoffs… he will be missed.
Syracuse/UConn and some depth at LB
I am on the west coast, so it made it a lot easier for me to watch that game the other night. There are two things that I took away from it:
1. UConn is awesome. They had some bad things happen and still could have won that game
2. Syracuse seems to play every game like it is do or die. I tend to only see them in the Big East Tourney but always display a lot of heart. Talented, but not upper-echlon talent. More heart than most teams.
I live in LA and see lots of star-sightings. My wife and I were out to dinner last night with another couple and as we are standing waiting for our cars, I look over and I see LT getting out of a car with a beautiful woman. LT is my all-time favorite NY Giant. All I can muster to say as he walks past was:
“Hey LT. Awesome to see you. Always great to see a NY Giant. We need some depth at LB this year. Maybe you should suit-up?”
Needless to say I got no answer other than a “Nice to see you” and a really good laugh out of him.

for whatever reason
everytime Syracuse gets deep (or wins) the Big East Tournament, they flop in the NCAAs.
1988 – won Big East Championship, earned #3 seed, lost 2nd round to #11 Rhode Island
1990 – lost in Big East Tourney finals, earned #2 seed, lost Sweet 16 to #6 Minnesota
1992 – won Big East Championship, earned #6 seeed, lost 2nd round to #3 UMass
2005 – won Big East Championship to earn #4 seed, lost first round to #13 Vermont
2006 – won Big East Championship to earn #5 seed, lost first round to #12 Texas A&M
i’m not saying they’re going to go out early this year, but i just thought it was interesting.

GIANTS question
Tomorrow 3/16 is the start of NYG’s off-season program. Can anyone tell me what the program consists of? Just weight training and conditioning or is there on field stuff as well? How longs it run and will it be closed or will reporters get to watch?
Sorry for repeating this question, but I never got an answer last time I asked it in a thread.
P.S. We’re down to (16) days til Plaxico’s court date >>> hopefully we’ll find out where we stand, kinda!!
Off-season program
As far as I know it is just weight training and conditioning stuff. It’s not an on-field mini-camp.

Rangers
Been catching then on Verses and Yahoo sports anytime they are on, i like the way the new guys look especially Morris, i miss guys like leetch… Not sure Lundquist is the right Goalie to get us to the promise land though… mostly just killing time until anything Giants happens lol i saw them down here vs the panthers in november, i usually go to ever game they play down here in south florids but glad i didnt go to the last 2 losses… bastards need to step up oh and i do love Avery! I use to live next to Bure when he played for the rangers, he stayed in Eagle Trace and always had the most amazing looking women driving 1 of his 4 really expensive cars, he’d give me tickets alot but that obviously was forever and a year ago… but i’m hoping they make it
