Outlet pass

I know we are not really supposed to talk about Plax anymore, but I have been giving this a lot of thought, so here goes..

3 things seem obvious to me at this point

1) Plax is not coming back to the Giants next year

2) The Giants are not going to pick up a Free Agent that can truly replace him.  Anyone who could will be too expensive.

3) The Giants have some talented young receivers,  but none of them are the dominating #1 guy that can take Plax's place

So this leaves us with a couple of options

A) The draft -  Most commentary has been on players that could be available at 29, but what if the Giants used some of their extra picks to trade up.  Is there an outstanding, possibly dominating reciever that they could go after?   - Note - most of the time I am against trading up ,  I would rather have more picks, but this may be an exception

B) Develop alternative offensive schemes.  I think the one that will be most effective will be making more use of backs catching passes out of the backfield.  In essence, this will give them another receiver on the field.  But for this to be effective, Bradshaw and Jacobs will need to improve their catching,

Thoughts?

this is very interesting

in light of what they have done in free agency, I am not against trading up to get crabtree.. assuming that he is healthy.. If not i would not be against waiting For Ramses Barden who i think could be the steal of the draft (think Colston but bigger and with a better vertical)

It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

These three signings make it possible

for the Jints to trade up. I suspect they might go for Crabtree even though he’s decided to have an operation on his foot, I’m certainly not against the idea. I like it a lot. Crabtree looks like the best receiver in the draft since Fitzgerald. The operation will probably drop him down to a spot where tradong up for him is something more than fantasy.

agreed

though that’s not saying much, since Johnson and Fitz are probably the 2 best WR’s to come out of the draft in a decade. If Crabtree is anywhere near as good as them, whoever gets him will be very happy.

in the last decade you also have

steve smith
roddy white
ANDRE JOHNSON
brandon marshal
reggie wayne
plax
colston
boldin
greg jennings
and thats not all
so we shouldnt exactly bash the wr who have come in the last decade

not bashing at all

just pointing out that if Crabtree is as good as the best of those guys (Fitz & Johnson), he’ll be a great pro.

Okay, best since Calvin.

Beware the Lions—the curse of Bobby Lane has expired.

I like the idea of getting our RBs involved in the passing game

years of watching Brian Westbrook destroy us despite only “running” for 20 yards has made me realize how valuable quick pass-catching RBs can be. I could see Bradshaw being phenomenal in this role. Jacobs, eh, let’s just keep using him the way he’s effective.

I agree

and Ware might be effective there too

Spread out the receivers, send them deep, and outlet to Bradshaw

Plaxico will be back

TWO of our wide receivers have been involved in gun related incidents since the Plaxico shooting. Steve Smith was robbed at gun point in his limo and one of the practice squad WRs was shot outside his parents home. Also the NY senator is pro gun. I am guessing he will see a fine, community service and a 4 game suspension. If reese gets a solid WR in the draft we will be set.

Gillebrand

has absolutely no influence over the New York City justice system, unfortunately. And even if she did, she’s more than counterbalanced by the rest of New York’s politicians.

If Diddy got off...

Plax can get off. This team can win games with its running game and defense at the beginning of the season. Even if Plax gets an eight game suspension and the team does nothing they can still make the playoffs IMO.
