Karlos Dansby loves New York?
Karlos Dansby a New York Giant? Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports this morning that the Arizona free-agent linebacker is playing the "I Love New York" card.
"Oh, that’s a whole ‘nother animal, man," Dansby said. "Playing in New York? Who wouldn’t want to play in New York? That’s just like playing for the Dallas Cowboys, you know what I’m saying? It’s a big market. You’re going to get an opportunity to be prime time. It’s a huge market. I wouldn’t mind playing in a huge market. I wouldn’t mind at all.
"It’s a tough situation to be in for me. Like I said, I want to make sure I’m comfortable, my family is comfortable, and everybody’s happy with the situation. Like I said, Arizona is up first. They gave me the first opportunity so they are the first ones I’m going to take a look at."
Vacchiano says, though, that Dansby is looking for huge money. If that is the case, I am not so sure the Giants will be willing to give it to him.
We all know splashy, expensive free-agent signings are not the Giants' style. The Giants need an outside linebacker, though, and Dansby is a good one. Is he enough of an impact player for GM Jerry Reese to spend big money on him?
I have my doubts.
- Ex-Giants coach Jim Fassel has finally landed a coaching gig ... in the newly-formed UFL. Things ended badly for Fassel in New York, but he is better qualified and a better head coach than a lot of guys who have gotten jobs in the last five years. I have never quite figured out why Fassel has not been able to land another NFL opportunity.

Sure
But would you pay him huge, huge money? He wants to be among the game’s best-paid players. Is he that good, that much of a difference-maker that you would blow out your budget and make him your highest-paid defender? I don’t see the Giants doing that.
Big "If"
we don’t know if Suggs wants to leave Balt., and even “IF” he does, we don’t know if he wants to be in NY.
KD on the other hand, wants to play for the Gmen. I agree that Suggs is a stud, but I think there’s a much better chance of the GMen getting Dansby than Suggs.
Plus Suggs is almost a pure rusher. Gmen need someone that can cover guys out of the backfield.
shows you how much I paid attention to the SB
an outside LB with that much size, 4.5 speed, 8 sacks in 2006, a few interceptions each year…
If hes a good run stopper and can contain McNabb and Westbrook from turning screnes into big plays, pay him whatever he wants. If we beat them, we win the superbowl this year.
But we cant expect him to get 8 sacks again with our end rushers, hes going to be in coverage more than blitzing. He seems like a great player, but is he a great fit?
The UFL
Is supposed to begin play in August. There are no team names, no owners, no team facilities, no players, hell even the team locations aren’t official yet.
But they got Jim Fassel. Good luck Jim.

Fassel
I can’t understand why a coach who has taken a team to the Superbowl can’t find a coaching job. Has he considered coaching in college, to reestablish himself?
I bet Fassel would be a great college coach too
look at Pete Carrol. Fassel was way better than him in the NFL.
My Fassel theories
These are my theories on why Jim Fassel never got a 2nd chance:
1. In his last season as Giants coach, there was a perception around the league that the team had quit on him. I think this is at least partially true, and I think its contributed to him not getting another opportunity.
2. He was fired by his best friend as offensive coordinator of the Ravens, and after that the offense in Baltimore showed a lot of improvement. This didn’t help.
3. I have read a few places that Fassel is not great interviewer. In a league that has become obsessed with dynamic young coaches, if this is true, it doesn’t help his case either.
I admire the hell out of the guy, I really do. He was very nice to my friends and I whenever he brought the Giants to AZ, and he will always have a special place in my heart for that. It was definitely time for a change when he was fired as Giants coach, and even then I respected him for coaching the last 2 games of that season knowing he wasn’t going to be retained.
I hope the UFL succeeds for his sake.

i thought the team never quit on him
I thought the problem is he had become too friendly with the players. That’s one of the reasons in particular Coughlin was brought in. I mean Strahan was pulling pranks on him on camera.
My take on Fassel includes what you say and what jr says
He was cerainly a players coach. That’s why when he made his guarantee in the SB year the team worked its heart out for him. Later, not under the whip of a strict disciplinarian like TC, not driven by the dollop of fear that kind of coach instills, they relaxed, unconciously slacking off, not consciously quitting on him. I also think his nice guy style is the main reason he hasn’t secured an HC job.
A couple of years ago
I know he was considered a candidate at Stanford. I think he wants to stay in the NFL, though. I do agree, however, that he would be an excellent college coach.
