"I don't know what's going to happen, whether they're going to (extend) it or wait until next year," Eli said. "I'm not all that concerned. I'm just trying to get ready to play next year and try to improve my skills and get better prepared to (help the Giants) have a great season next year.
"I see great things (ahead). I think we have a great core of players who want to be in New York, who work hard and are dedicated to the team. And I think that's important. When you have good guys who you like being around, who you're happy with and who play great football, then our future's in good shape."

Eli's pay....
He’s the fourth highest paid quarterback in the NFL. Why rush to extend his contract until he shows a little more consistency?

I believe
the way his contract is written they have to make a decision on an extension now. but i am not sure of the details.
Eli was quoted in USA Today this week
as saying he didn’t know if the Giants were going to offer and extension this year or wait until next year. So apparently it isn’t crunch time yet. Since it is likely that any extension offer will make him the highest paid quarterback in the league anyway why not wait until next year and see which Eli shows up this season?
Unless, of course, you believe the rumors that there is an outside possiblilty that 2010 may be a year without a cap, but I can’t see that happening. I’m sure the NFL owners don’t want to have to spend money foolishly like MLB does.
