Are you smarter than Vince Young?
NFL team use the Wonderlic Test as one of the measuring sticks for players during the NFL Scouting Combine.
You probably remember the story that Tennessee's Vince Young reportedly scored a 6 on the test. You probably laughed at that. Well, here is your chance to see how well you do.
Take a sample Wonderlic Test and let us know your score (if you aren't embarrassed by it).
The average score is apparently 21. I scored 25.
Oh, one more Combine note. If you want to track the top performers in the tested categories you can do so here.

Wonderlic
I’m continually shocked at how poorly some of these athletes do on the test. If you had any sort of college math course, you should be able to score at least a 20.

Shouldn't the questions be more like...
If a receiver has 4.3 40 speed and he leaves his 35 yard line with 8 seconds left on the game clock…
or
Trailing by 1 point, a football leaves the foot of Lawrence Tynes just as time expires…

I took the Wonderlic
back in 1973 when I was applying for a job. The test is not designed to measure your IQ. The underlying test within the test is to determine whether you know the best way to maximize your score. When you are set up for the test you are advised that the number of correct answers is your score. There is no penalty for an incorrect answer. By design, there is not enough time to think through all the questions and still finish.
The way to maximize your score is to blow through the test as fast as you can, finding all the questions you cna anser in the blink of an eye. Then, after you do that go back and take another run through trying to answer the ones you skipped the first time, taking care not to spend too much time on any one question. If it takes too much time, forget it and move on. Leave yourself enough time to make one more pass, and guess at all the ones you don’t have time to figure out. Remember, you don’t get penalized for wrong answers. You might easily pick a few more right answers that way.
The test on the link is bogus because the whole point of the test is to see how you manage an unmanageable situation. Twenty questions in twelve minutes doesn’t do that. Given an adequate amount of time most of us on this board could probably score 40 or better, although I suspect the Cowboy’s bloggers would probably be closer to Vince’s score….LOL

I took it a long time ago as well.
If you pay attention to the rules, it’s hard not to get a decent score, particularly since the agents would know how to coach their clients who they think won’t understand the rules so that they do okay. Given that, some of those low scores are incomprehensible. Another measure of how bad American education has become, I suppose.

37.5 for me
Had I scored less than Vince Young, I would have admitted it, then never come in here again. As a matter of fact, I probably would have thrown out my computer

32.5
though I think I could have done better – I spent more time on a few of the questions b/c I thought they seemed too easy, and read them way more carefully than they had to be read. Oh well…

Based on not realizing that I should blow through the test
as fast as possible, I got a 25. Based on answering them all, I got a 40, but not in the right about of time (more like 10 minutes). And I’m giving myself extra credit for the last answer because I don’t care what the answer key says, flammable and inflammable do not mean the exact same thing. I’m proud of myself for figuring out 11 in my head correctly but then I used up half my time to do that.
Save the neck for me, Clark.

Also
the one with the identical names is cheap – I’m on a small laptop, and couldn’t tell that one was a comma and one was a period. I think I should give myself credit for that one…

How can someone with a user name like Chucky of Norris claim intelligence?

LOL
I look at it a different way, how can a Cowgirl fan question anyones intelligence?? hmmmmm.. and a bandwagon on top of it all.. after football season you sport a Jeter jersey?? I’m going to question your man hood son…

Did you even read my post? I already metioned the teams..
Going for Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees… BANDWAGON and its not a suggestion at all…. Its ok though there are plenty of misguided sports fans just like yourself out there…

Actualy the reason I follow those teams is because in Australia we only get one or two games a week
and those are the teams that are shown the most.

sucks to be an aussie
Dont yall like like cricket.. just change the A to a P in your screen name….Dallas fans hate NY fans and vice versa so you really cant root for both otherwise your a BANDWAGON because your going for the popular winning teams.. but I’m done with this thread its way too old…

I got a 40 but
I had an unfair advantage. I just started graduate school this January and back in December I had to take the GMAT examine to get in. This wonderlick is like an easier version of that so I’ve been studying for about 2 months on how to take these types of tests in a certain amount of time. If you practice learning numbers and ways of looking at questions to indentify wrong ansewers you could significantly increase your scores on these sorts of tests. I wonder if any of the potenial draft picks take practice tests in order to try and get a better score.

I got 42.5
But I messed up the math on the equal shares questions, so it should have been 45 had I not brain dead at that point. The advantage I have is that I had to do these types of tests a few times in school to retain my spot in an Advanced learning Program I was in (so I have a real aptitude for these after all those years of taking them).

22.5
That’s probably why I get all these hot chicks like a football star… too bad I can’t make millions has a PC Tech! At least I’m smarter than Vince Young.. going to commit suicide, difference is I’m smart enough to pull it off. LOL
