Gibril Wilson, anyone?
The Oakland Raiders have apparently released former New York Giant safety Gibril Wilson.
You will recall that Wilson left the Giants a year ago to sign a $39 million contract with the Raiders.
Any interest in seeing Wilson back with the Giants? No way the Giants pay big money for him.

They gave him 39M ?!
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

6-year deal
And now, it seems, they realize that was stupid.

The Giants won't pay the market price;
the ’boys will.

I'd take him back
but obviously at a very reduced salary.
By the way, I’m SHOCKED that the Raiders gave out a bad contract and decided to cut ties before it was over…that never happens…

LOL!!
Yes, Al Davis is brilliant! He certainly is at the top of his game. He’s never been better.

payday for Gibril
Didn’t they guarantee $15 Mil of that contract? Oakland obviously doesn’t care about the salary cap hit.

Absofruitly
anybody is better than Butler. Gibril is still only 27, maybe he can be had for $2-3M on a short deal. i’m not sure as to why Oakland wanted to eat all that money. Wilson had a career-high 134 tackles (2nd on the team). it’s not like he was terrible.

Unlikely
Not impossible, but I would bet against it.
My bet is that someone else will pay more than the Giants -
Also, on Giants he is definitely #3 but there are teams he where he could start

#3 to who?
Butler is the only other SS on the depth chart and he’s a free agent. Gibril started on the Super Bowl team, why wouldn’t he start in ’09?

#3!!!
Absolutely not, the giants could move him back to SS and he would start… Gibril was consistently the best player in the secondary during the super bowl season
It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

Wilson
would be a long shot. Giants weren’t willing to pay him a year ago, they aren’t willing to pay Butler now and I seriously doubt they would pay Wilson big money now.

maybe he would take a discount
to play for an organization that’s not run by count dracula

Will this impact on a Compensation Pick?
I know Compensation picks are based on who we lost vs. who we signed and performance. Would this play into the equation at all??
