New York Giants' notebook, 02.18.09

Giants_notebook_468_medium

Ralph Vacchiano had a piece Tuesday stating that New York Giants' running back Ahmad Bradshaw is back in jail serving another 30-day sentence.

This is not a new thing for Bradshaw. This is the end of a saga that began last off-season when he served the first 30 days of a 60-day sentence for a violation that occurred when he was a juvenile.

Hopefully, this is the end of Bradshaw's run-ins with the legal system. With Derrick Ward likely gone next season, the Giants need Bradshaw to be more productive than he was in 2008.

  • Here is Todd McShay's preview of the NFL scouting combine. Giants fans should pay particular attention to what McShay has to say about Maryland wide receiver Darius Heyward-Bey. It pretty much echoes what my pal Rick Snider had to say about Heyward-Bay recently.

  • Over at Giants.com, Michael Eisen has begun a very intriguing multi-part series on pro football scouting. It's a great read on what it is like to live the life of an NFL scout.

Scouting

seems like a pretty neat profession, i wouldn’t mind watching football for a living..
also I hope we don’t hear about Bradshaw getting treated better by the guards like he was last time..

It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

I forgot about that ...

I definitely hope Bradshaw avoid controversy this time.

ok ed i need to disagree w/ u now

u said b-shaw needs to be more productive but the guy had no opertunities this season and every time he got an oppurtunity he exploited it so i think he was plentiful productive 67 for 355 and a 5.3 avg. is pretty good so back off my boy

I'm sure Ed just meant, more involved / productive

I remember being more impressed with Ware’s running (not Ward) in the Minnesota game then AB’s and that was when they had the opportunity to show thier stuff. Looking forward to getting to see more of each in 09

Scouting

That’s a great article, I’d take that job in a heartbeat.

I want

that defensive tackle that McShay is talking about in the Video.. he kinda reminds me of Dockett, a Physical Freak of nature who blows plays up in the backfield.

I couldn't be a scout or a ref

my instinct is to follow the ball. I’d have a hard time concentrating on the right guard while Manning-to-Tyree is going on, for example. Heck, I’d have a hard time following the right guard when “run Ward into the line from the shotgun draw on 3rd an 3” is going on.

it takes time..

but if you’re following the ball then you can scout the quarterback or running back.

Surely not more bitterness

Re Plax, Ken? Relax and see how things play out. If he serves no time and after his what looks like for sure suspension, he might be back playing in a Big Blue uniform next year for all any of us BBVers know.

who are you calling shirley?

im joking. the bitterness has subsided. mostly. it does seem like mr bradshaw has a certain bengalique quality to him, though.

Bradshaw got in trouble 4 years ago

and is just serving his time now. If Plax shot himself while he was a Steeler and the Giants signed him, and he was just now serving jail time, it’d be a very different story.
