a look at our current lb's

everyone is saying we need an impact lb now we need an impact lb now but i wanna go in to our own orginazation and take a look at some of the young and promising young backers we have.  yes the middle linebacker spot needs an upgrade and after this season i am more and more convinced that chase blackburn should be taking over the reighns of the defence from pierce.  lets face it pierce is old and slow we should try to trade him for a second or third rounder but here is our situation

we have 8 linebackers on our roster

ok now lets look at these 8 boys

wilkinson- proven to be good at one thing: injuries the guy cant stay healthy and even when he was healthy for the first 5 games he had like 8 tackles as a starting lb my guess is his days in ny are limited

scanlon- a special teams guy wont make any impact probably wont make the roster

pierce- used to be one of the most respected mlb in the game now he is a lughing stock the guy is so slow its embarasing and i hope coughlin realizes that pierce is not starting material anymore

kehl- now here is a young backer with an immence amount of talent.  he took over for wilkinson and played very well untill for some reason he lost his job to blackburn after kehl had a great game in pittsburg.. kehl is a young lb with an apparently bright future in the nfl and hopefully will be the starting weakside lb next year

goff- was supposed to replace blackburn on the roster but ended up having an injury ridden season.  i believe he could become a playmaker for the giants but who knows he could either be come the next wilkinson or he can become a great mlb. his future is in his hands.

deossie- great special teamer but ithink thats where it stops. granted he has not seen much playing time in his first 2 seasons so who knows but i doubt he will ever be able to beat out kehl for a starting spot

clark- old guy. had a decent season on the strong side not great had his few good games but hopefully either kiwi or dansby will take his place

blackburn- hopefully our starting mlb next year maybe splitting time w/ goff but he is not really the long term answer so realy i hope that james laurinaitis from ohio state becomes our starting mlb next year

so thats it we have a few talented young lb but in my opinion the only one with a bright future is bryan kehl he is fast athletic and a ball hawk so lets see what happens

59 Wilkinson, Gerris LB 6-3 231 25 3 Georgia Tech
52 Scanlon, Rich LB 6-2 249 28 5 Syracuse
58 Pierce, Antonio LB 6-1 238 30 8
53 Kehl, Bryan LB 6-2 237 24 R BYU
54 Goff, Jonathan LB 6-2 236 23 R Vanderbilt
51 DeOssie, Zak LB 6-4 249 24 2 Brown
55 Clark, Danny LB 6-2 245 31 9 Illinois
57 Blackburn, Chase LB 6-3 247 25 4

Good assesment. I for one am a Big believer that Kiwi should move back to SAM. I really feel that Reese and the rest of the FO saw the skils, body type and intelligence in Kiwi to move him back there. I really think that he belongs there and can make an impact.
We will have Osi back and Tollefson has really improved to the point we can put him inside and have him rushing the QB against slower Guards and also giving Osi or Tuck a rest on the outside.

Draft

Jerry has two 2nd rd picks, Id be shocked if he doesnt take an LB in the first that he doesnt take at least one in the 2nd. I like Kiwi on the line, he plays faster there. They have been drafting for depth at LB the past few years, we really need to look to draft a starter with the early picks we have.
