"I'm finding out quickly that there's a lot involved in being a head coach," Spagnuolo said. "To do it right, you've got to be in there all the time.

thanks for the lead to the Plax story

It basically states the obvious w/o a lot of opinion. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but the Bring Back Plax fans need to swallow it and move on.

IMO: I am VERY surprised that there Isn’t more ANGER at him. All these fans are willing to take him back so that we can win another SB. Why don’t they stop and realize that we PROBABLY WOULD HAVE done that THIS YEAR if it wasn’t FOR Plaxico. Yes, it’s over; too late now,; blah, blah, blah…

Bill Buckner was run out of Boston and paid for years for his blowing a championship, Why is Plaxico getting such a free ride with this “That’s ok Plax, just win us another one next year” garbage???

I think there's a little post SB hangover

or else you’d be right. Had he cost us a SB without providing us with one first, I’m sure the anger level at Plax would be much higher. The Sawx fans had to win one finally before they could forgive Buck. They really should never have been mad at him in the first place – the game was already tied when he made that error, and even if he had fielded it cleanly he probably wouldn’t have got to first before Mookie, so he was a scapegoat.

Save the neck for me, Clark.

And don't forget....

That was only game #6…..The team lost the last game, not Buckner. I always thought the manager was more to blame than Buckner since he had a better defensive first baseman on the bench.

Correct, 57.

I also think Rich Gedman was way more to blame than Buckner, because of his passed ball that let us tie the game up, not to mention the parade of singles given up by Calvin Shiraldi and Bob Stanley.

Save the neck for me, Clark.

Oops

I just rechecked the box score – Stanley didn’t actually give up any hits in that inning, but it was ruled a wild pitch, not a passed ball. I still think that was Gedman’s fault to some degree though – the ball wasn’t in the dirt. just inside.

Save the neck for me, Clark.

Calvin Shiraldi....

I had all but forgotten him……

maybe because it was stupid for the red sox fans to blame buckner for that series?

the more i distance myself from new england fans the better. i know plax messed up, but poop happens. and the two most egregious things people seem to be nailing plax for are carring a gun and going to clubs. personally i cant fault him for doing either. its dangerous for NFL players out there, as our own steve smith found out the hard way, and pierce was out with plax at the club and actually ahd to play that weekend, so that cant be a big deal. its not like plax pulled a ray lewis and helped his friends kill a dude. it was an accident. so i hope he comes back. but if you want to dump on him, go ahead, im past worrying about other fans’ opinions. i will be roting for plax tocome back because we are a better team with him. if hes not back, i’ll still be a giants fans and will wish plax well wherever he goes, unlike tiki who can suck it and go to hell.

just my humble opinion.

HELLO HELLO MR WILPON. WE WANT THE MANSION NOT THE CONDO.

Mr. MET & Kendynamo

excellent comments (that’s why I like this place)

Mr.M: I agree with you that if we hadn’t just won one. there probably would be more anger with him.

Ken: I have a license to carry where I live and I DON’T strap one on when I go out with friends. WHY? Because we know where trouble is and WE DON’T GO THERE!!! Yes, I am not a football superstar, but you have to avoid bad situations, not bring a gun because you’re putting yourself at risk.

What bothers me the most about the whole thing is that it was a PERFECT opportunity that was wasted. If we had won another SB after being called “LUCKY” or "JUST GOT HOT " at the right time,; all of that would have been put to rest for ALL OF TIME!!

Do you realize how rare the opportunity we had was? You can’t just say, we’ll get one next year. Think about how players who get to the SB talk about “enjoy it, soak it up, people play there entire careers and never get here” .

We have a very good team, but the cards don’t always falls as needed.

oh yeah, plax was stupid, no agruement there.

and i share your frustration. this is what makes football so agonizing. the ridiculously long wait until your next chance.

"this is what makes football so agonizing"

And that’s why I call it Gut Wrenching GIANTS Football

My family thinks I’m nuts for being so passionate about them, but it certainly let’s you know you’re alive!!! The swing of emotions with this team can be heart-stopping (you know!)

With Plaxico

I think it has just been a cummulative thing. Any one thing he did might be overlooked, but put all together his list of misdeeds is pretty damning, at least in my opinion.

You're not alone buddy!!!

The more you look at all the stuff he’s done, it becomes less serious (except for the gun thing) and it’s just down-right JUVENILE. Even the gun thing is juvenile “What did you think you were gonna do with that, shot someone?” If he’s getting robbed, they’d already have a gun pointed at him. They’d rob him and take his gun TOO!!!.

I guess having been able to vent my frustration with the guy on this site has changed my view from looking at him from a man to man situation, to looking at it like you’re dealing with a 15 year old doing stupid shit!!!

I can forgive, BUT I need a serious, I know what I did wrong, I’ll never do it again, I am sorry I hurt people type apology and I better see remorse; A LOT of REMORSE

“they’d take his gun too” awesome

"A LOT OF REMORSE"

Good luck on that. Plax is gonna be Plax, period. You might get some lip service, but you won’t get character change. That’s the problem TC and JR face. If he can play next year, do they want a guy with a whole lot of talent who marches to the beat of a different drummer? Try something different. Turn the question around and look at it from Plax’s POV. Could he have a better overall career on an average SQUAD that cuts him slack for his talent than on the disciplined perennial playoff TEAM that TC and JR have built?

Good luck on that.

I hear ya brother!!!!

My comment was the result of having pruged myself of the anger I had towards him for costing us back to back Super Bowls and (Hang ON…, I guess I am not over it yet…)

IMO I don’t think Plax has it in him to make this right. With ALL MY HEART I truly believe that his WIFE is the ONLY hope for him. Be it the threat of divorce, the loss of his kids, the beating Mike Strahan took in court, it CAN’T come from within him.

Nothing worst then the wrath of a woman!!! Normally wouldn’t wish this on ANY man, but Plax has been acting like one, so… Hello; Mrs. Burress..???
