Brett Favre retirement discussion
According to ESPN, Brett Favre has finally decided to retire.
Personally, I think Favre retired a year too late. For years now, I don't think Favre's play has matched his reputation, or the love he gets from many in the media.
Anyway, if you hate Favre, love Favre or care one way or another about this decision use this as an Open Thread to discuss it.

I'm sick of Favre
and he probably should have retired a year ago, but he was very, very good in his last season with the Packers, up until that final overtime anyway.
this is actually an unfortunate situation
it’s like Johnny U on the chargers or Namath on the Rams. I think he should have stayed retired, but he thought he had something left, and truth be told i still think he does, but his body caught up to him to the point where he couldn’t play at a pro bowl level. Brett Favre next year is better than any QB that the jets have now..
It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

Thank God
Tired of the drama around if he will or will not.
Hopefully he sticks with it this year.
Loved the game too much
I agree he should have stayed retired as a Packer, but I think he didn’t want to stop playing if he still could. It reminds me of Ricky Henderson. He was all done in MLB but loved to play baseball so much he went back to the minors just so he could keep playing.
Good luck to Brett, thanks for all those " You gotta be kidding me " plays over all these years

While proof reading my comment before posting it, this thought hit me…
BRETT FAVRE – UFL??? (sounds like the Ricky Henderson story NO?)
playing football
making money
Big Name attraction for league
Role model / coach for players
Jim Fassel as your boss – Who could ask for more???
Just another comical chapter....

and THATS' why I watched
I became a pseudo JETS fan because I loved watching Joe Walton on the sideline as his team would TOTALLY self -destruct right before his eyes!!!!! ( I can’t stop laughing as I type this)
Poor Joe would get all excited as the JETS DB intercepts a pass deep in Jets territory, run it down to the others teams five yardline only to FUMBLE, have it recovered by the other team and run back 95 yards for the touchdown they just prevented on the very same play!!!! During the play, Joe’d running down the sideline with his player yelling " GO,GO" only to have a look of terror in his eyes as the ball comes out yelling “NO?… NO?”
(that’s NOT suppose to happen!?!?!)
I can see him standing there with his shoulders sunk, emotionally spent as the other team celebrates the touchdown, only to throw his hands at them as he turns and walks off to behind the bench not even wanting to talk to his guys.
THAT was entertaining Football :-)
Favre
Favre did produce great memories for many, many years and I was a big fan for a long time. Too bad the media had to ruin it for me with their infatuation with the man. Anyway, good luck Brett!
You lost me at tractor
No doubt Brett is a or was a fans player. Hard nosed, jeans wearing, backyard football playin, American express usin….. oh snap, that’s the media version.
Truth is, he’s just like any other player that wants to play to long. They usually wind end up screwing with their legacy by playing 14 years for one team and 1 or 2 years in the XFL.
Brett…. you came….. you played….. now go home and stay home this time
and PS – it never appeared to be about the money for Brett because he always got paid. You let them take back all the millions of dollars in salary and endorsements and see if he still wants to play. It’s easy to say it’s not about the money when your rolling in bills.
