It looks like Tynes has his job back

Lawrence_tynes_medium
Lawrence Tynes

A couple of reports have surfaced this week that our New York Giants have already told 44-year-old Pro Bowl kicker John Carney that they are moving on without him next season.

That means, of course, that the job returns full-time to Lawrence Tynes.

I know many of you out there have misgivings, but Tynes is a pretty good kicker. He did make the biggest field goal in recent Giants' history, and has an 85.7% accuracy rate on field goals in his five-year career.

Are you OK with Tynes being handed the job? Or, do you want to see veteran competition for him in training camp?

Carney

didn’t go out on a high note, did he? Still, he had a great season. I won’t be upset if Tynes is the kicker next year, but I really think that unless you have Adam Vinatieri or someone similar, there’s no reason not to have a little competition in camp. Kickers aren’t exactly expensive. Bring in someone young with a strong leg, and see if he can outperform Tynes.

exactly

and if the other guy sucks, get rid of him. I think its always a good idea to at least bring two kickers into mini camp. The Dolphins signed a rookie from Montana who ended up taking the job away from Jay Feely. I for one am all for bringing back Bjorn Nittmo hahaha

NYG will have Micah Rucker doing kickoffs, FGs and extra points.

Saw this one coming

I can not say that I am shocked to hear this. Carney was a great pick up for the team when we needed a kicker right before the season started and he kicked well. His kickoffs I will NOT miss they were mediocre to horrible almost every game. Anyone remember the Seattle game?? We scored so much that by the end of the game the kickoffs were barley making it to the 20 yeard line.

I say we bring a couple of cheap young guys and give Tynes a push in camp but he will know that barring some huge set back that he is the guy.

OFF TOPIC QUESTION???

This is a NEW YORK Giants site… Why do we have PST time stamping???

I end up with jet lag every time I come on here!!

haha that's a good question

I’ve noticed that before, but I never thought to say anything. My Yahoo Mail account is also on PST, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to change it. It’s pretty annoying…

every single comment (in the date and time stamp)

Since we’re talking mechanics here; there’s no way to edit your comment after you posted it huh? Minor things like missing words, spilling…

CJ: I found it! (purely by accident)

Double click your name in the “by” line w/ the time
that’ll take you to you account info. Click the “edit settings” tab
you’ll see where you are set to PST, change it and click update
