From NFL.com:

Dallas Cowboys tackle Flozell Adams was fined $50,000 for his hit on Justin Tuck during Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants, according to a league source.

Sorry, but that's not nearly enough

To me thats plenty, but he needs TO STOP BEING AN IDIOT!!!!!

He played a good game but ruined all that by pushing Tuck. Again I have seen guys do way worse in a game which has resulted in injury but he is on the team I root for and I don’t like it. No fans like for their team to get a bad rep for idiocy.

50K is chump change for him. This is nowhere near his first offense. The NFL dropped the ball by not suspending him.

i was going to say that $50,000 is a lot for all but the highest paid players

but then i saw that flozell WAS one of the highest paid players in the NFL. i had no idea. this dude has made over 50 million in his career. holy crap.

yeah, you have to start a little higher before a guy with that kind of bank roll is going to feel a pinch.

Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.

Regardless of the fine amount, this is a repeat offense and should come with a suspension.

I dont know what happened

I was unable to watch the game so could anyone post a link to a video so I can see this please? You may remember some of my posts following the first dallas games; I dont like Flozell Adams!

Some may have given up on the Giants this season, but they WILL make the playoffs.

Considering his history this year alone, this has to be a final warning fine… no way he gets away with anything dumbassed after this… right?

Now that I seen that shot it was a cheap shot in a better video.....It was

stupid on his part……that could have been a suspension or a fine….close call. I wouldn’t be upset either way as a Cowboy fan cause he deserved it. Now , what I didn’t care for either was while Williams was dealing with about 5 to 8 Giants. He was tangled up with 54 I think and #24 comes in and takes a two hand shot to the side oF Adams. I have read alot on here respectively how you all hate cheap shots, well there is no need for him to do that either. I will be curious to see if you all except that or feel he is intitled to take that shot because of what Adams did?

If I was on the sideline

I would have (attempted) to kick Flozell’s ass.

That’s a disciplined team that fists weren’t flying.

Roy williams also had an obvious hands to the face on one of his tds, I don’t see how that isn’t called.

No

I didn’t see holding (to dallas fans, I’m sure there was tons of holding, to me Johnson made a great block).

holding, something that both teams take part of (I’m not going to argue any team is free of holds, that’s not how the game is played anymore).

Starting a fight, pushing your hands into someone’s eyes, is different.

Not that what Roy did would have made much of a difference, I’m sure you would have scored there. But that type of stuff needs to be called.

But yeah, retaliation is deserved when the authorities that should take care of it don’t do a good job of it.

That’s what happens in sports, so that’s why Flozell should be suspended. If Flozell’s still starting for you next year, you better believe Tuck will be playing extra hard to embarrass Flozell.

And wtf are you talking about cheap shots?

Flozell’s actions were one of the cheapest shots I’ve seen in football, I’m very surprised Flozell made it out of East Rutherford. There should have been a melee if it wasn’t for a little discipline and some timely intervention by the refs.

Yea right....

that’s not nearly a game check.

Given all his fines this year, Goodell shows no balls whatsoever in not suspending this clown.

None. His ovaries are apparent on this one.

Grow a pair. No one cares about Ocho Cinco’s celebrations. Heaven forbid someone break the little image he wants of the league.

What sort of image does this play? $50,000? Flozell still will make payment on his Range Rover. He won’t think twice of this.

He keeps on being dirty. YOu’ d think this would be the top of the iceberg.

FK Flozell. Fk Dallas and Goodell’s precious ‘ratings’ he gets from America’s failure team.

I agree..

but you should put IN GAMES in caps lock.

This was not in the course of the game.

This was half time.

Not even the quarter being over. But half time. This is when people who are actually playing football are going back to the locker room to got and re-coup and see what to do better in the 2nd half.

I’ve seen fights at the half, but usually they are either just some jawing going on at the end, or there was an actually football play before the fight and the end of the half.

This was NOT in the course of the game, like ALL late hits usually are.

Not even close.

The FG was missed. The whistle was blown, people were going back to the locker room (yea…including Flozell so he could’t plead incompetence on this one)

Yes, it was just a push, and all in all, wouldn’t have injured a fly.

It was instigating a brawl and could’ve been a lot worse.

How true. As I warched the scrum, I kept hoping the fans wouldn’t jump in It probably would have happened in a soccer match in most parts of the world. That really calls for more than what, in context, amounts to no more than a tap on the wrist.

by blue gonz on Dec 9, 2009 9:06 AM EST up reply actions

Flozell

This shouldn’t be a Dallas vs. New York thing. This is about a player who clearly doesn’t get it, clearly disregards the rules and has no respect for the game and the players on the opposing team. He’s been fined many times, and clearly it doesn’t matter to him at all. I know this is the largest fine he has ever gotten, but considering the number of times he has already been fined this should have cost him a game. It wasn’t even during play. It was running off the field at halftime.

by Ed Valentine on Dec 8, 2009 11:08 PM EST up reply actions

I agree

This is not about team rivalry. Thugs like Adams need to be eliminated from the game. All the young kids watching garbage like that get the wrong idea when the league tolerates that kind of behavior.

As for Ocho Cinco I think some of his antics are pretty funny, some are stupid, but he is only having fun and it doesn’t hurt anyone. On the field he is a clean player.

and Dallas has to do with this...

cuz if this was Joe Thomas or Orlando Pace who flipped a lid and did this…they’d be suspended.

This has to do with ratings and trying his best to get Dallas in the playoffs. Flozell all in all, actually playing in games will help that more than he would on the sideline.

Ohco Cinco get’s 30K for wearing a costume, that’s more than flozell got for two tripping penalties includeing one that hurt a player?!?! Than you guys point out Flozell is only paying 20K more for starting a brawl thats absurd.

by Late for Dinner on Dec 9, 2009 11:34 AM EST up reply actions

I must have missed the "brawl".....

all I seen was Giants around one or two Cowboys. I can’t put that in the text of a brawl. I didn’t see a punch thrown or anything like that in this scurmish. There was alot of talking I am sure but they do that all game long, just watch Barber and Jacobs lol. I still don’t condone it but I think we are making more of it then what it was in the first place. Then again maybe I am wrong and he should be suspended for the rest of the year for pushing and being an idiot. Who knows!!

by dubious on Dec 9, 2009 11:43 AM EST up reply actions

not suspended for the year.

and It is not as a result of this one game…which I’m fairly certain your looking over here.

When you rack up a bunch of transgressions like Flozell has done this year, something like this, deserves a suspension.

Plain and simple. He’s been fined numerous times this year for all his ‘dirty’ plays.

Mouthing off happens all the time. Flozell’s response…doesn’t.

Instigating a brawl is what I said. Not created a brawl. He was instigating one, which is pretty much as bad..it could’ve resulted in that, but cooler head prevailed.

He deserved a suspension for a game. Money is obviously no object and this is not the last of Flozell acting up this year.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Dec 9, 2009 11:58 AM EST up reply actions

yea the cool heads were

Dallas players coming into the mix..They could have come in blazing and pushing like the Giants were on one player but instead they seemed calm and that in itself kept it from esculating. The Giant players understandbly were all over Adams and taking shots at him, which is usually what happens when a player does what Adams did. The whole thing just looks worse than it was and it makes us in general look bad as a team for one mans actions. That right there makes me mad cause we as fans take the brunt of it from other fans.

by dubious on Dec 9, 2009 12:54 PM EST up reply actions

Fox cut away from it

But the Benches were clearing, this could have been really ugly. I am just saying they fined Ocho 30K for putting on a costum and Flozell gets 50K for a way more offensive act. Even if they don’t suspend the guy with his track record You got to levy a Big fine for doing that.
Point seems that the league is more worried about it’s image than player safety.

by Late for Dinner on Dec 9, 2009 12:01 PM EST up reply actions

The Fine isin't enough

I don’t think that it warranted a suspension…but being that flozell has been flat out criminal this year w/ these penalties, and being that this is the 2nd on Tuck….you gotta hit ‘em harder than 50K. Yeah it’s a nice chunk of change but not enough given the circumstances.

This "punishment" is a cheap shot

I already commented about this situation and my idea to remedy it. While I doubt they’d go for giving us 2 free cheap shots next time we play (think of all the possibilities, I’ve got plenty more too), this is utterly confusing.

Like you guys mentioned, look at all the other antics that go on that are fined. Celebrations for God’s sake! So Mr. Commish considers these acts by Flozell, if that is your real name, fine-worthy? If that’s the case, and you won’t suspend him, take at least a game check’s worth. These guys wipe their ass with even 50g! Seriously, what will it take for him to get suspended, pulling a Haynesworth?

Oh, and just for fun, I forgot that after Haynesworth stomped Gurode (shoulda been Flozell), he wasn’t even immediately thrown from the game! The refs need to step up and throw these pathetic guys out, cause it rarely happens.

Lastly, due to the circumstances of it not being during the game, technically, had Tuck gotten seriously hurt, would he have the right to file a police report against him? I know things happen during a game and I’m sure that’s in the fine print somewhere, but this had nothing to do with the game of football. If it happened outside, he’d have the right. Shoot, it happens in the stands all the time and what happens…the police come and take people away.

I’m so sick of this special treatment for the F’n Cowboys. It took em how long to finally suspend Pacman? You know what would have happened to Plax if we didn’t do the right thing and suspend him? Someone should start a petition to have this asshole suspended….

probably

tuck probably would’ve been able to file an assault charge if it was an altercation outside of the game that caused injury. maybe even if it was a fight during the game that maybe shattered a bone in his skull.

i think back to the scott bertruzzi hit when he was with the canucks. it came during the game but the blow was so powerful that it qualified as a criminal assault.

Players Union

Needs to address the commsioners power to fine and suspend players, their should be a review board of some kind that does that, because Goddell is way to inconsistant to have all that power run through just him.

by Late for Dinner on Dec 9, 2009 11:37 AM EST reply actions

The brazen and clueless commish; his useless phony puppet Pieria and spin doctor Aiello have hit Adams with a fine in lieu of suspension. More proof of these lackeys and spineless buffoons being in Sultan Jerry’s hip pocket. This bull will continue until the fans finally wake up and figure out what their watching in the NFL is all staged. The owners would be`better served by replacing the commish with Vince McMahon. The man is a better actor and has better script writers, Hey it’s all show business! So Congress you have no problem investigating Baseball and Basketball, now how about taking a look at the tax exempt status of the NFL after all it is a business (show) not a sport anymore. I wonder how the owners feel about Jerry’s goon. Let’s face it this guy has to have his blessing to pull this garbage, if not he be following Terrell out the door. Hey, other NFL owners pay their star players a lot of money to perform in a game where injuries affect attendance, television contracts and other income interests. If Mr. Goodell can’t enforce or control acts of televised violence then he and his lackeys and title should be replaced. This is just what we want our youth to see from its star athletes and America’s Team. This league is not just about Jerry and if the other owners remain silent then it must be assumed he has their blessing.

by old ghost on Dec 9, 2009 11:51 AM EST reply actions

The problem with not suspending players as they do thigns like this

is that it can lead to escalation. Escalation may lead to more hate and thus some angrier play (ie sometimes fun to watch), but it also pushes things way too close to the line… you know, THE LINE. Take a look at the “Bertuzzi incident” in the NHL from nearly 6 years ago, or even in the NFL where you get a match-up that results in a nickname like “The Bodybag Game”. These are the types of end results of NOT coming down harsh on the beginning of the escalation, and you ultimately end up with a much worse situation on your hands.

by brisulph on Dec 9, 2009 12:31 PM EST reply actions

Good point

That is one of the reason’s they let the player’s fight in the NHL, they believe in the players holding players accountable. So Next time they play if someone on the Giants takes Flozells knee out the league should have seen this coming

"Do you really feel a push in the back deserves a career ending injury?"

the answer to that question is an obvious no.

But that’s not the right question. Does inciting a fight, tripping other players when you’re obviously beat (which cause a major injury to us, don’t forget, forcing tuck to be much worst than he is), and watching the establishment give nothing but a slap on the wrist warrant some type of retaliation?

Most definitely yes. OchoCinco’s been fined more than Flozell, when Ocho’s done nothing more than have fun, and here’s a dirty player harming the faces of franchises (Tuck, Osi, Peppers).

I hope merriman makes a fool of Flozell on sunday.

free please tell me that you drinking a few is the reason for the comment

cause are you here to tell me that Adams tripping Tuck was him trying to cause a career ending injury? Do you really believe your logic? Its a little flawed as you posted earlier. Adams being beat and throwing a leg out to keep the defender from blasting the QB has been going on for many many year in the NFL. Lineman were always taught back in the day do whatever it takes , if your beat, hold ,trip or something just don’t let him get a clean shot on the QB.

Again , seriously you want people to believe Adams tried to injure Tuck when he stuck his leg out? You do realize that players are in violent collisions of a worse magnitude on every play that could cause a major injury. Being tripped and being injured while hitting the turf was a fluke injury.

Your not understanding me

He didnt try to injure him by tripping him period. Thats what I am argueing against. Yes he has a thing for Tuck for some reason. I still think there has been something Tuck has done in the past cause there is usually two sides to a problem. The problem is Tuck may have just said something in the past and Adams can’t keep his hands and feet off Tuck .

willfully taking an action that could cause injury is, in common law, called a “tort.” If I drive drunk, I may not have INTENDED to injure you, however my negligence and disregard for your safety, if I DO harm you, is something that we as a society take very seriously.

Whats crap is Flozell had already injured Tuck to begin with, and on top of that, Flozell willfully took a blinsided shot at him. Hence, you push someone down in this way, what options would Tuck have, to prevent himself from falling down? He’s going to brace himself for the unexpected force, wouldn’t you say?! This impacts everything from the hands and on up to the shoulder region!

I have a firm opinion thinking that if it wasn’t #91 standing there, he wouldn’t have done it! So really, what motive would fat ass have for shoving a defenseless person down, when it’s clear that he (Tuck) was FAR, from the play??? This was personal!

BTW, a push in the back may not end ones career, but perhaps the rest of the season, eh, no? Broken wrist, arm, elbow etc… Tuck already has a torn labrum in his shoulder that if it’s aggravated more, it could lead to a dislocation! So now, how do you expect the fans and the media to react? Let alone gutless Goodell!

Sit there and defend him all you want. It’s no big deal. Flozell has only been fined 4 times in 13 games THIS, season!!!!!
