Terrible?
bit of a bold statement.. kind of like saying when it’s windy Eli is terrible.

terrible no....
Like Eli in the wind (at least in the past…), more beatable (any QB is more beatable when they get smacked around…see: Brady, Tom, Feb. 2008.

It's a 2-game season ...
Beat Dallas and Philly, and we have a good shot at the division, and would finally deserve to be in the post-season. If they don’t, then they don’t belong anyway.

I seen Osi get blown off the ball...
On that TD run by Bush. I seen AP trailing Witten’s TD. I also see Romo’s having a picnic too. I see a lot of things! lol
We just need some applied pressure from the interior to flush Romo out. That green dot on his helmet should be worn on the front after each pass attempt!
And, whoever is in there for Osi, needs to stand their ground and make the RB’s redirect their intentions. That should help our LB’s flow to the ball carrier with less traffic!
I can see Goff blowing someone up and causing a fumble!

Are you sure you want to flush Romo out of the pocket?
All that does is create more time for WR’s to get open. Romo is one of the best scramble-then-throw QB’s in the league. You have to do more than simply getting pressure. Romo can beat pressure. You have to bring exotic blitz packages to confuse the offensive line and let guys get free shots at him. If you want the Green Bay game, there were a few times o-lineman got beat one-on-one but for the most part a blitzer came in free because of blown protection.

no definitely not...
Romo I’ve always said is a slippery bastard and out of the pocket is a lot more dangerous, especially with those dump offs to Witten or Barber.
They’ve got to bottle him up and wrap him up once/if they get there.

yup
I hate when Romo gets flushed out. Him and McNabb both, actually – maybe the two best “out of pocket” QB’s in the league.

Assuming the Giants DE's can do something on the edges
Then any pressure up the middle will force Romo into bad decisions, hopefully, not to mention the chance for sacks!

Sunday
As bad as the Giants have played I can’t think of a better tonic for them to get things turned around. Dallas stirs a lot of emotions so I am pretty confident they will be up for this game and despite Dallas’s recored Im not really impressed by them.

"despite Dallas’s recored Im not really impressed by them."
You could say that about every team in the league. The Colts could easily have a few losses, same with Saints.. and the Vikings quite simply should be 8-3. What is it about them that makes you say that?

I'd still choose the Vikes, Colts, and Saints over any other team
Why should the vikes be 8-3?
The boys could have been 6-5, but that’s not how it goes.
I think the cowboys are overrated too, but hey, that’s my opinion.

The vikes should be 8-3
because they were a hail mary from losing to the niners and a missed fg as time expired away from losing to the ravens

And if kansas city could tackle
That would be another loss for the boys. And if the redskins kicker made one of his missed fgs, theres another loss.
But that doesn’t matter, so the argument is moot

If this is in reference to their attempted tackles on Austin
And if kansas city could tackle
I think your sentiment is misguided. He does that to everyone recently.

when theres 4-5 guys around you
and you end up sprinting down the field for a td, I call that an inability to tackle.
Not all of them are on the Defense, Miles is a good player, but 250 receiving yards doesn’t happen unless a defense sucks.

And anyways, thats besides the point I was making

they barely survived against Washington and KC
…yes, I know the retort will be "they could’ve bea the Giants….
…but winning by the skin of their teeth against KC and Washington….that’s closer to a loss than the 1st Giants game would be “closer to a win” for the Cowboys.
6-5 is what they could be as well.
The Giants and Cowboys are more equal than anyone will put credit to.
Of course….by about 7:30 on Sunday…we’ll know how unequal they can be (….if there’s a tie, I’m beat Gilbride with his clipboard).

people will want to beat Sheridan with his clipboard even if its 56-0 Giants.

...
“but winning by the skin of their teeth against KC and Washington….that’s closer to a loss than the 1st Giants game would be "closer to a win" for the Cowboys.”
how are they different? The Giants had 1st and twenty on like their own 10 and drove down to kick the game winning fg. How is that different than what Dallas did to Washington? I mean they did hold them to 6 points.

My point however...
is that we could play that game of how people are not as good as their record says… at some point you come to the conclusion that 90% of the teams are overrated, and if so and so many teams are overrated then everyone is equally worse than what their record is and its all a wash.

I ment no disrespect to Dallas
Just that to me Dallas and the Giants are even, all the games are tight and I got to say these two teams hate each other so when they play I don’t really feel like either has an advantage over the other.
You know young in a strange sort of way both teams are mirror images of each other.

Off topic
Anybody wathcing this Nebraska Texas game. I knew this D-Tackle Suh from Nebraska was very good but this is the first time I’ve watched him live and my god I’ve never seen a D-Tackle dominate a game like this. With 10 mins left he has 10 tackles and 3 sacks. I’m sure he’ll be a top 5 or at worst a top 10 pick so the Giants won’t have a chance but this is the type of playmaker the G-Men could use in the middle. This guy is awsome it’s the best defesive performace I’ve seen all year from a player in collerge.

i've read a lot
of articles advocating him for the heisman over the crop of QBs and RBs this season. i haven’t seen him play live but from what i’ve read the man has been dominating games consistently for 2 years now.

Yeah he is a beast
But we would have to trade a lot to even get close to where he is getting picked.
by mclaren_is_the_best on Dec 6, 2009 1:41 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
he would be worth losing the rest of our games for
and then STILL having to make a trade. He’s flat out awesome though.
That said, I really want the Giants to get a linebacker this year. I’ve been hoping for 3 years they would take a playmaking LB, and they haven’t done it – I think it’s time. They need some speed back there. Obviously if Kenny Phillips’ injury is really career threatening they’ll need a safety, too, but I think LB is the #1 concern.

BIG SUH!
This is the 4th NEB game I’ve seen this year, and 6th or 7th dating back to Suh’s junior year. He dominates like this all the time…tho maybe not the 8 or 9 tackles he had and 4 1/2 sacks!!
The first team to pass on him in the draft done screwed up their draft.
…The Giants need a safety. Even if KP returns 100%, they need a safety. MJ is OK, and combined with KP the safety tandem was solid, but they need a saftey like maybe Earl THomas from Texas or possibly Taylor Mays (I’ve even seen Eric Berry miraculously fall to the Giants??—-remember, Kenny Phillips fell to the giants cuz of his stupid 40 time).

Suh
was incredible last night. Kept picturing what he would like in the middle of the Giants defense. He will never be available to them, though.

I could imagine...
I don’t think he’ll look bad on any D-Line..but him on the Giants D-Line?
He makes those around him into a dominant line…imagine what he’d do surrounded by Tuck, Kiwi and Osi?

Suh might go #1, and no way in hell Berry gets past 5.

You're right.
We have no intensity at linebacker. Worse yet no speed, no linebacker who the opossing team has to game plan for, no linebacker who is great in coverage, and no linebacker that punishes runners who dare to test them.
In short, the Giants whose greatest teams sported some of the best linebackers to play the game don’t have a single linebacker that could even start on any other contending team.
What good is our great defensive line rush if all the QB has to do is hit slants, screens and other quick passes that turn into big gains because we are so deficient at linebacker.

Thats waht started to happen last year
teams figured us out. It’s kinda depressing realizing how bad the Giants are on all sides of the ball. They need to rebuilt at every position other than QB and WR and even WR we have about 9 on the roster. We should trade a few for a couple of Saftys or someone.
by Landeta on Dec 6, 2009 8:00 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I gotta say...
if Goff proves something from here on out, I don’t think they’ll draft another LB (Why would they?)
Kehl should get worked into the lineup too I’d think from here on out.
So they got Goff, Kehl, Boley and Sintim as the rotation.
I mean maybe they go after one in the 3rd or 4th or something like that to throw in the rotation.
This is a deep draft in LB, so they really don’t need to go for a Brandon Spikes (I don’t like Spikes anymore either….didn’t do all that well yesterday and is constantly getting banged up).

Spikes and mock drafts
It’s almost unbelievable, but a couple weeks ago, i literally looked at, at least 10-15 mock drafts and they all had the Giants taking Spikes? Even with Mays or Berry still there?!
I will say though, that the Giants better avoid ANY, player that tends to be dinged up and misses time. I’m so tired of injuries!
by Hootman on Dec 6, 2009 12:35 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm not likeing Spikes all that much anymore
always seems to be banged up and usually overshadowed on Florida’s D by all their other stars.
Not to say I wouldn’t take him in the 2nd round….but I’d rather wait till the 2nd round to get him
(Imagine getting him and Taylor Mays in the same draft? You’d have to have 2 top 10 picks in the 2009 draft to do that!)
"It ain't over till its over"---
by FreeBradshaw on Dec 6, 2009 1:01 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think we should pass on Spikes too.
Also I see no reason to worry about AP coming back. Maybe he could be part of the coaching staff but as a player he can no longer compete. The crew did a good job of stuffing the run against Dallas but Romo still lit them up in the short zone where linebackers are expected to intimidate receivers and cover those short balls.
Boley did make an excellent athletic move to keep Whitten from catching one by stretching out and knocking the ball away, but really most of the night Whitten outran the linebackers.
I think we still have to look for more linebackers in this draft. I know it’s become a big joke about my suggestions to move to a 3-4 defense but it is the better system in my opinion so maybe we should tihink about that as we start to develop a new crop of linebackers.

Can the players show a little Giant Pride?
Seems to me heart is a big issue this season along with poor play. I dont know if its the palyers not buying into Sherridans system or they feel defeated with all the injuries but something needs to happen internally to those players.
Giants fans here are full of the giant pride…we need and demand the players show it.
Hopefully today is the day it shows up and we get a win
