Breaking news: Cerrato leaves Redskins
My guess is that most Washington Redskins fans will greet this news with joy.
The housecleaning in Washington has apparently begun, as Vinny Cerrato has reportedly resigned as the Redskins' executive vice president of football operations.
ESPN 980 in Washington reported the move Thursday morning.

Double that
and raise you some more.
Looks like the Redskins will have something to play for Monday which is not good for us.
Plus if they get someone who knows what they are doing it makes the division even tougher!

I saw Holmgren
is checking out the Browns.
That could be good.
Well..it would be better if Cerrato was still around…he’d probably hire Mangina.

IMO
Holmgren is overrated. He’s a good coach. Not great. He had the luxury of having Favre as his QB when Brett was in his prime. Outside of a 4 year span, 1995-1998, his teams are average. Let’s not forget with Seattle he was able to pad his coaching record with 6 annual games vs some pretty terrible divisional opponents. From 2003-2005 he was 14-4 inside his division.
true...
but Seattle did get to a SB…so they weren’t slouches. Hell, you remember that Seattle was a horrendous organization before he got there? He turned them around, at least until his last season.
Holmgren’s worth it. No more or less worth it than guys like Shanahan and Cowher..and Holmgren has the resume of turning around TWO franchises.
Brett Farve…yea, but Homlgren and staff were a gigantic reason why Farve was devloped into who he is.
If my team was looking for a coach…Holmgren would be #1 on the list, ahead of all these others.

Shanahan
he’s another the media has a love affair. He’s not quite the same coach without Elway.
There’s no way I take Holmgren over Cowher.
Holmgren's turned around 2 franchises
from the dead.
The Browns are in the dead.
Cowher went to the Steelers…..a perennial contender cuz of how they are run.
Holmgren has a better track record for what the Browns need…
Cowher helped continue success…Holmgren brought success to slumping former giant (GB) and a team with massive amounts of stench (SEA).

Yeah
I think Holmgren is a good fit for the Browns they need something to turn that franchise around…..
Damnit now the skins might actually make moves to improve there team.. that does suck
Not really....
like Kevin said….Campbell is as good as gone. The guy is actually a pretty good QB, conisdering all the crap he has to deal with there; from new HC/OC every year, to O-Line stench, to…yea, like our boy Eli, young WR, to well, the inconsistency of not being a QB MACHINE (Peyton…)
They’ll in all likelihood draft a QB high in the draft. No matter who they draft..they won’t be very good next year…probably a lot worse.
If they draft Colt McCoy…well, what’s the word on how long drafting the wrong QB can set back the team?
Unless the new ‘regime’ realizes what they have in Campbell….no, they are not gonna improve, especially on offense.

I dont think Campbell is out...
Bruce Allen has a knack for drafting tons of lineman. With the holes they have in the OL and a defense that needs to get younger, they might hold on to Campbell for another year…..
Yeah
I wouldnt be surprised to see Campbell resigned for a shorter deal like maybe 2 years or something like that….
drafting a QB high has to be taken with the idea in mind that you better have a vet to play while he is learning….Shockingly that vet could be Campbell…
yeah,
but do you think Campbell would want to resign after all of the bull$#!+ that the skins but him thru last year. I like how he handled that situation last year but deep down you know he was hurt. He’d make a nice QB for the Panthers.
I agree with this
Even if the Skins want to keep him, why would he stay and keep the job warm for Bradford or who ever they pick. To me he’s a guy who can be a good QB in a league that has Delhomme and Garrard with jobs.
Scheider
owns them, I’m not worried..lol

How long until Greg Blache is available
I wonder if TC could get him he is a proven DC and Im sure he would enjoy being a part of a stable team ???
New Guy Here
Hey guys, I’ve been reading BBV since last May, though this is my first time commenting. I’ve been in Asia the entire time and it’s been the only thing helping me get by in terms of Giants news.
The only problem I have with Blache is that while the ‘skins defenses of the past few years have been in terms of keeping opposing yardage down, they don’t make the big play often enough. Kind of the same problem we have now don’t you think?
I don't know much about the lolskins defense
but I know that its much better than our defense this year!

We don't know yet...
if it will make a difference. Successful teams – the Colts and Steelers, for example – emphasize continuity in coaching and in the front office. They know what kind of team they want. They run the same offensive and defensive systems for years and draft players who fit the systems. They have a plan and are given the time to implement the plan, and are usually noted for building through the draft.
In contrast, teams that are making changes all the time are usually unsuccessful. New coaches and coordinators come in with new systems and find that the players they have don’t fit the systems (an example is Jim Zorn coming in talking about implementing a West Coast offense, and finding, as he should have known, a quarterback who is not a West Coast offense quarterback). While the new coaches try to get the right players for their systems, they struggle and are fired before they can finish. and the cycle starts again.
The Redskins need professional management, and an experienced GM is a good start – but the real problem is Snyder. He has never shown the patience to step back and give the football people time to do implement a plan – hire a coach, decide on the systems, hire the coordinators, etc. The team is his toy. He has always gone for the quick turnaround, the flashy answer, and has been quick to pull the trigger when it hasn’t worked. I expect he will continue to interfere and the Redskins will continue to avoid success.

I wouldn't worry about Cerratos departure causing the players to get fired up for Monday..
Now if they canned Zorn..and brought in a ‘Grinch that stole careers’ kind of guy..then I’d be worried.
+1
Does anyone actually think his departure will be a motivation tool? These are artificial reasons created by the freakin clueless media.
they HATE Cerrato down here
like, take how we feel about Steve Sheridan and multiply it by 18 (years since they’ve won the Super Bowl) and that’s how much they hate Cerrato. I’m not sure if it matters to the players or not, but they certainly gained a lot of goodwill amongst their fans from this, and in football, good karma can go a long way.
"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09
I hope it doesn't come down to us depending on a Washington victory over Dallas to get in...
…although they have been inching toward respectability recently, this is still a franchise in complete disarray and I don’t believe they can be counted on to do us any favors. The scenario whereby we both finish 9-7 and get the nod over the Cowboys on tiebreakers seems most likely to me.
Also, in regard to the Monday night game, the free weekly Washington Examiner writes,
“…the Giants rank ninth overall in total defense. Their problem has been big plays and points.”
No argument from me there…

As fans, we aren't expecting a shutout
All’s were asking for, are a couple few timely stops here and there. Nothing worse than generating over 500 yards with 38 points and you still lose!
