Very useful tool to waste time

Yahoo has an excellent playoff scenario generator. If everything strikes right, we can win the division

If philly goes 1-2, and one of those losses is to dallas, and we go 3-0 we can win the division. Note that if they beat dallas, and lose every other game, they still win the division on tie breakers.

I'm assuming at best, dallas goes 2-1, with a loss to New Orleans. Basically, we have no room for error, and need to hope dallas loses one game. If they lose one game, and the giants go on a 3 game winning streak, we get in.

The last game between the Phllies and Cowboys will determine the division, and the sixth wild card spot. Let's hope we win out. No way do the cowboys go 3-0. Let's hope we can, and that philly loses some games. Keep up the hope brethren!

Giants need to win out....

plain and simple.

Could they back in at 8-8…sure..

9-7…sure.

10-6? I doubt both Dallas and Philly make it to 11-5 (tho…its certainly possible…but Dallas has to go 3-0)

If the Giants win out…and still don’t make it…well, can’t say they didn’t try right? (well…at least in December…)

you know

looking at that, Philly’s schedule isn’t exactly easy. The Niners, the Broncos, and the Cowboys. I did a scenario without even really thinking about it where the Giants, the Cowboys, and the Eagles all finished 10-6 (Eagles losing their last two games to the Broncos and Cowboys, ’Boys winning their last two against the ’Skins and Eagles, Giants winning out), and the Eagles end up being the odd man out. The Giants swept the ’Boys, the Eagles swept the Giants, and the ’Boys would have swept the Eagles. The Giants win the NFC East in that scenario and actually get a home playoff game, which seems almost unthinkable right now. I would take that scenario in a heartbeat, obviously.

Like Free said though, Giants just gotta win out. If the Boys and Eagles win out too, good for them, they deserve it more. But if we win out, I like our chances. And while this has been a frustrating as hell season, the worst team the Giants have lost to is 8-5 right now – they’ve beeaten everyone they’re supposed to beat, so hopefully they keep taking care of business against the Skins and the Panthers.

as long as they beat the Cowboys.....

That’s all I want them to do. They need to beat the Cowboys and put them out of their misery.

I never gave Phillies schedule a thought

But that mound seems improbable? Anything can happen, but they have the tie breaker so i’ve been focusing on the Cowboys and the WC. In any scenario between the Cowboys and us, i feel confident overall. Assuming the Cowboys get destroyed by Brees and Co., that leaves them with Was. and Phi. In any event they split, that will leave them at 1-2.

With us, even though were one game behind, i like how we matchup against the ‘Skins, thus a victory here gives us the advantage. Now against the Panthers, one thing that scares me will be their running game. If we can shut that down, i don’t see any reason we couldn’t win. Finally onto the Vikings? Assuming they have everything wrapped up to their liking, who and how much will their certain guys play? Even a loss here means we still went 2-1 while being one game up on the Cowboys, thus the WC straightup!

I’m moreless looking at this realistically (though you guys make good points abroad), i think the Cowboys should be in the crosshairs first, and whatever the Eagles do, they do. Besides, even if it came down to it, i don’t think the Cowboys could win, in a must win scenario!

SF is no slouch

Denver isn’t either. Of course the Cowboys can and should be pissed about what’s being said about them.

All in all….Philly winning outright…doesn’t hurt the Giants.

Dallas winning…does.

I’d rather Philly go 3-0.

Dallas HAS to go 1-2. 0-3 would be great too of course…but 1-2 is most realistic and best for the Giants.

OF course, if Dallas goes 2-1…Giants must go 3-0.

I’m praying for the Giants 2-1…Dallas 1-2, Philly 2-1 (with Philly beating Dallas of course).

That means Philly wins division at 11-5 (congrats…see ya Week 18 biatches), Giants 6th seed at 9-7, Dallas goes back to Jerry’s playground and stares at the big-screen at 9-7.

Of course…I’d absolutely LOVE for the Giants to go 3-0, Philly 0-3, Dallas 1-2.

…cuz Giants 10-6, Philly 9-7, Dallas 9-7…..that means Philly no playoffs, Giants get Dallas in the Meadowlands!

Personally

We need to go 3-0. Somewhat to vindicate to ourselves, but also I think dallas might go 2-1. I have a bad feeling about their game saturday.

Plus if we go 3-0, that gives us an ever so slight chance to win the division.

Mostly though, I’m sick of losing games. The only gave we could lose imo is vs the vikings, and they’re resting their players.

the cowboys and eagles

cant win out. They play each other

by wangstu13 on Dec 17, 2009 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

I think we'll be fine in any combination of results...
Giants 2-1…Dallas 1-2, Philly 2-1

Though i’m still not thinking Philly, but if these records do pan out, it’s in what order of how they happen? That’s the tough and agonizing way of thinking about it! lol

As for SF? Well, i’ve seen people suggesting that if the Giants make it into the playoffs, they’re backing in? No! They earned it by beating their division and or conference foes, with no help. SF on the other hand, being at least a game down already, needs quite a bit of help with so few games reamining!

I consider the Titans two years ago as backing in. They barely beat the Colts with the Colts resting their players in the second half. That knocked the Browns out who had a 10-6 record! You would think 10 wins would be good enough? WTF!!! lol

Just checked it out

It is really cool. So many different things acn happen

Some may have given up on the Giants this season, but they WILL make the playoffs.

It was even better a few weeks ago.

I wish they had it for the beginning of the year.

Imagine it for 16 weeks? That would waste so much time
