I'm getting tired

of watching the Bears roll over for teams we need to lose.

Agree

how bad are the Bears?

by FrankB0318 on Dec 13, 2009 2:00 PM EST up reply actions

gonna get worse too!

they traded their first 2 rounds of the 2010 draft away too.

They’re stuck with the crap that they have.

Cheerleaders

Yeah, don’t get your hopes up. I feel bad if anyone just caught the Vikings-Bengals game when they just came back from break. They showed the one of the ugliest women, let alone cheerleaders, I’ve ever seen! I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

Ed, for the love of God, don’t show this one when we play Minny later on. Just a random hottie would do well that week. Thanks in advance.

Green Bay Fumbles

Lets see Cutler make em pay

by greg a on Dec 13, 2009 2:28 PM EST reply actions

yes

cmon cutler, you bum, win this one for us

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 2:53 PM EST reply actions

Anyone catch the pregame shows see if they picked us today?

Only 1 out 5 did on espn. No one on Inside the NFL.

And lets go Bears & Chargers.

by Jsz on Dec 13, 2009 3:14 PM EST reply actions

sports reporters

discussed game for a while this morning — and giants were unanimous pick

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

thats a little surprising.

I expected Lupica, but no one else.

I still have a bad feeling same as I did against the Cowboys- which is good?

by Jsz on Dec 13, 2009 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

ha

i had a pretty good feeling about the dallas game, but this one, not so much. i’ve been saying this week that i really think the only way we hold philly under 30 is if they turn it over multiple times.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:24 PM EST up reply actions

If we win

it’ll be a shootout like the first Dallas game, or its just one of those inexplicable blowouts were we get to Donovan 12 times again.

by Jsz on Dec 13, 2009 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

hopefully the latter. the secondary is so overmatched in this one, it seems like it’s gonna take about 12 sacks to keep the eagles off the scoreboard enough.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

Atlanta takes the lead over NO...

Not good for the Giants – Brings the Vikes closer to a shot at home field throughout the playoffs, and thus a meaningful Week 17 game against the Giants.

by JimmyK on Dec 13, 2009 3:16 PM EST reply actions

trying to figure out

which game to watch online — on the stupid free sites it’s hard to switch back and forth. think i’m still more interested in GB/CHI than the saints.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:18 PM EST reply actions

cutler

just threw another huge INT, GB ran it back to near the goal line. thanks a lot, cutler.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:21 PM EST reply actions

ack

Cutler is always good for a pick or 2.

by Jsz on Dec 13, 2009 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

That

was a ridiculous throw.

by Mount17 on Dec 13, 2009 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

horrendous

and even more ridiculous was lovie smith calling for a punt from the 40 on 4th-and-inches in the previous possession. obviously, the football gods pushed the punt into the endzone and tacked on a 5-yd ineligible man downfield, for a net of 15.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:25 PM EST reply actions

I’ve always hated that as well. The upside of making the inches you need far outweigh the risk.

by JimmyK on Dec 13, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

terrible call

to go for 2 there…. lucky bastards

I don’t know what some of these coaches are thinking.

by Mount17 on Dec 13, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

missed the pick

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:40 PM EST reply actions

just cuz you're an NFL coach

doesn’t mean you’re an intelligent coach. to lovie’s credit, most NFL coaches don’t really understand the theory behind when it makes sense to go for it on 4th down, and when it doesn’t (or when and when not to go for 2).

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

There was a pass over the middle

that Olsen couldn’t hold onto after going to the ground, Bears take a time out because the play clock was running down, then eventually threw the challenge flag even though it had no chance of being successful. So they lose 2 time outs.

by Mount17 on Dec 13, 2009 3:52 PM EST up reply actions

anyone have Brandon Marshall on their fantasy team?

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Dec 13, 2009 3:52 PM EST reply actions

Marshall needs one more catch to break Terrell Owens’ record of 20 in one game. Let’s go Brandon!

Be great if SanDiego can win

Especially since they beat both the Eagles and us, and its December.

hope so

the moaning and groaning shall begin in dallas once SD takes a 10 point lead. wah wah wah, wade phillips can’t win in december, wah wah wah

SD/Dallas

Battle of the coaches who take a lot of undeserved crap.
How many coaches in the NFL would you take over Norv and/or Phillips?

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 4:44 PM EST reply actions

over Norv

maybe 10. Over Phillips? Maybe 20-25.

Norv is not a great coach but he’s not a terrible one, either. He’s done a pretty good job in SD this time around. Phillips, otoh, is not a good coach.

"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09

by cjmulrain on Dec 13, 2009 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

Norv is not that bad.

I wish he was our OC…

Phillips is a fool, completely deserves everything.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Dec 13, 2009 5:04 PM EST up reply actions

Norv is a two-time loser at the head coach level...

…I’m amazed he was even offered another HC job in the first place!

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 5:16 PM EST up reply actions

I'd take either one ...

over our respective coordinators, but never as a HC.

by Shofner85 on Dec 13, 2009 5:36 PM EST up reply actions

a lot

of good coaches never won a superbowl. the chargers were laughingstocks for a long time and he’s kept them competitive and in the playoffs. he’s gotta be doing something right.

by cntrlalt on Dec 13, 2009 5:54 PM EST up reply actions

marty

also had a tough time winning there. maybe the larger issue is with AJ Smith, as its been well documented has a very abrasive style of management.

by cntrlalt on Dec 13, 2009 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Marty went to the playoffs

like 3 times. I woundn’t say that’s a lack of winning.

by DoctorK16 on Dec 13, 2009 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

yeah but

he never won a playoff game with the Chargers.

by FrankB0318 on Dec 13, 2009 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

that's my point

both marty and norv get killed for not winning the big game, but they’ve both kept the chargers in the playoffs and a threat.

by cntrlalt on Dec 13, 2009 7:55 PM EST up reply actions

well

i guess i give more credit to wade than he deserves because he’s had success as a coordinator everywhere he’s gone. there are quite a few who don’t agree with me…. http://www.firewadephillips.com/

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 5:04 PM EST reply actions

he's a good coordinator

but good coordinators do not always make good head coaches. He’s the Peter Principle in action

by cjmulrain on Dec 13, 2009 5:14 PM EST up reply actions

a.k.a. the Ray Handley paradox...

…though I’m not fully convinced Handley was even a good coordinator to begin with. He never coached in the NFL again after his stint at the helm.

Scifres is the new Feagles...

…his ability to pin the opponent inside its own 5 yard line is amazing! It’s a pity that he might not even make the pro bowl because of Lechler who simply booms them like no one else.

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 6:08 PM EST reply actions

man it makes for a long day

when your team plays the night game. Watching the Chargers dominate this game makes it tolerable though. They just need another TD or two.

I still think Rivers is gonna find a way to win this

Or Cowboys lose it. Even if they do win, they still have to play NO.

Anywhoo, we need to Philly. Lets take care of business

by Jsz on Dec 13, 2009 6:18 PM EST up reply actions

yeah the Giants need

to handle their own business then it won’t matter what Dallas or Green Bay do.

I’m feeling good about tonight’s game.

Bloozer

by blooz on Dec 13, 2009 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

either I'm impressed with Dallas's run game today...

…or am underwhelmed by SD’s ability to stop the run. Either way, Dallas has been doing some creative things to run the football effectively and open up the play action passing game.

Still, it has only amounted to 10 points thus far…perhaps because nobody has yet to step up and make a big play.

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 6:18 PM EST reply actions

I was damn impressed

with that goal line stand by SD. They were all over it.

Bloozer

by blooz on Dec 13, 2009 6:26 PM EST up reply actions

SD has had some trouble with their rush D...

all season long. They’re 21st ranked regarding rush defense with 117.8 yards per game. I was really surprised that they were able to stand up during that first goal line stand.

Ware

is being carted off.

by Mount17 on Dec 13, 2009 6:30 PM EST reply actions

Its sad how this kind of thing...

always happens to the classiest and best guys within the league. As much as you’d hate to say that he’s a Cowboy and should automatically be hated, Ware is just too good of a person to do so against.

by Well-Rounded Cube on Dec 13, 2009 6:33 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

yup

doesn’t matter what team he plays for, never want to see a player carted off the field. Hopefully he’s fine soon – it’s good to see plenty of movement

Dallas secondary....

…. not stepping up and making big plays

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 6:38 PM EST up reply actions

and

looks like you’re going to be right about that missed FG being huge.

by tulls200 on Dec 13, 2009 6:38 PM EST up reply actions

well, in all honesty...

…Dallas’s deep coverage hasn’t been that bad this game, IMO…but SD goes for the long ball so often that even if they connect on a low percentage of them they still result in a few game-changing plays.

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

wow

must be nice an OC that goes for the jugular

by FrankB0318 on Dec 13, 2009 6:59 PM EST reply actions

Go Chargers!

I love it.

Gettin’ ready for the main event, but enjoying the “undercard”. ;-)

by M. on Dec 13, 2009 7:00 PM EST reply actions

Chargers

look good. They’ll be tough to beat in the playoffs.

by FrankB0318 on Dec 13, 2009 7:02 PM EST reply actions

yet we had them pretty much beat

a few weeks ago. If they don’t make the playoffs that’s the game to look at.

by DoctorK16 on Dec 13, 2009 7:04 PM EST up reply actions

the giants collapsed over several weeks

and it was widespread. don’t pin it on one guy. Any one on the D line could have sacked Rivers and prevented the play from happening

by NYERinSF on Dec 13, 2009 7:16 PM EST up reply actions

Any one on the D line could have sacked Rivers

but they didn’t and the ball was put in the air and at that point it was Webster’s play to make and he wasn’t even close. He got smoked again last week. What’s worse is the last TD he gave up to Dallas looked like he hardly made an effort. No, he’s not the only one responsible, but he shares a larger than most responsibility for not playing his position.

perhaps not, but like AP and that Westbrook play last year...

…it’s likely to haunt him in the offseason if we don’t make it to the dance.

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 7:30 PM EST up reply actions

Actual TC is the one who shouldn't sleep

His 3 and 7 give up play on the last Giant possession and settling for the field goal was the opposite of playing to win the game.

by DoctorK16 on Dec 13, 2009 7:42 PM EST up reply actions

SD did their part...

…now it’s time for our guys to do theirs.

by Step up and make big plays on Dec 13, 2009 7:05 PM EST reply actions

Ha

The Cowboys try an onsides kick with 2 seconds and the clock manager cheats to keep one second on the clock. But Chargers recover, so doesn’t matter.
