Giants (7-5) vs. Eagles (8-4): Open Thread
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants, Dec 13, 2009 8:20 PM EST
NEW YORK GIANTS (7-5)
Game #13
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (8-4)
VS .
Date:
Dec. 13, 2009
Location:
East Rutherford, N.J.
Time:
8:20 p.m. EDT
Stadium:
Giants Stadium
TV:
NBC
Radio:
WFAN (660-AM)
By The Numbers:
Eagles QB Donovan McNabb has won 10 of his last 14 starts against the Giants (incl. playoffs) ... Eli Manning needs 75 yards for his 5th straight 3,000-yard passing season. He could become the first Giants QB to have five straight 3,000-yard, 20+ TD seasons.
Tonight might as well be a playoff game for our New York Giants. Defeat the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants playoff chances improve dramatically. Lose and ... well, we don't want to think about that.
Use this as your Open Thread. Enjoy!

Nicks is our best receiver, IMO
I’m glad he wasn’t starting early in the season so he could learn, but he is clearly ready. Smith had that drop in the end zone last week and Ham’s routes are a little iffy. Nicks has such great hands from what I’ve seen and I love that YAC.
by M. on Dec 13, 2009 7:35 PM EST up reply actions
Smith's still our best receiver
but Nicks is our big play threat
They’ll be like toomer and plax, except better.

WR double move please
If we can give Eli enough time for our WR to make a double move tonight we have the potenital for big plays. Their DBs were jumping all of our routes last time and I’ve watched Samuels do it against other teams too. Please KG, let’s think outside the box and we can burn this overly agressive D.

If I had to pick one QB to lead my team down the field in a two score game with less than two minutes left...
I’m taking Tony Romo
I'd take Jason Campbell - both have great ratings in that situation though LOL

So, how many do we have to get down by
before cutting early is bad? I kid… but it may come to that. Hope not though.
Don't stop the run and don't stop the pass either
What a great winning formula!
"We're only going to score 17 points?"
Now comes the inevitable "air it out" drive
followed by another Eagles TD, then we’ll keep it close until right before the half when we do something monumentally stupid giving the Eagles a last minute score, and the rout will be on. We’ve seen this script before

We were down 10-0 to the Cowboys last week
and that one looked like it was heading towards a rout. Let’s give them a little bit of time before we write them off

That did not happen till 2nd quarter
This is looking like domination so far. Our D last week at least stopped cowboys early.
Does lucky mean
it does not count as a real score? No? Well then, this is a two score deficit, and making up big scores is not a good winning formula for this team man.
No
but lucky means it is no necessarily a fair reflection of the strength of the teams, and there is a long way to go yet.

I can’t take this. Why do we let this team up time and again? Can’t we hold the damn momentum for even a single quarter?

maybe a little, their offense came to play
their defense and special teams havent
defense have been fine
They allow the one bad first drive and stopped in the red zone. The Eagles got 14 points of Turnovers and ST.
can't say the d hasn't
they’ve only faced mcnabb twice, and stopped em once. Not enough data yet to see if the d sucks
Special teams, yeah how can you suck that bad at special teams?

Wow look. We run AB to the outside, he does well. We run Jacobs to the outside, he does terrible.

I think on the play
Collinsworth was criticizing Bradshaw for, he got messed up by the ump after he caught it – he seemed to be upset with him after the play.
Bradshaw felt an Eagle landed late on him
but no real case, he was barking about nothing.
He was protesting the late hit

And yet they’re losing b/c of two fluky big plays. Keep it up in the 2nd half though and the Giants can and should win this thing
