Things Have To Change Right?
Why isn't the defense playing up to our expectations???
Bill Sheridan wanted to coach the defense from upstairs in the booth, but coach Coughlin demanded that he be on the sideline like Spags. I don't know if he was up in the booth as the LB coach (nor remember what his previous title was) but if the guy wants to see the field from a bird's eye view then maybe that's the way HE needs to coach.
I have sat in the middle section of the endzone at GIANTS stadium and saw the other teams format and said "Oh Shit" before the ball was even snapped, just because it's a completely different view than that on the field.
This teams defense needs to play on a brand new level from here on out
and maybe seeing it from a different angle will help solve some of the alignment problems.

or
we could make CC brown a SSOLB
get rid of danny clark and put some speed in that spot as well as the ability to tackle.

Things have to change, atleast for the better, right?
This team as we know has seemlingly hit rock bottom in all phases. No other reason to suggest that it can get any worse, minus injuries! We are, afterall stuck with this cast for the rest of the season and hopefully the walking wounded can atleast make a difference?!
But looking ahead, JR has his work cut out for him in 2010. Especially on the D! Just for starters, ties have got to be cut amongst Brown, Clark and Rouse! Robbins and Bernard should be considered even though Bernard signed for four years, it’s never guaranteed though! AP, we’re all looking at you too, what do do with him?
But for change? If we move forward at this pace without it, it will be unbearable and downright embarassing!

little too early...
but yea, they need to get faster on the LB unit.
Kinda a shame that they’ve been drafted at least a LB in the draft for what seems like forever, yet the starters are still Clark, AP and Blackburn (who was a UDFA).
Sintim probably gets a bit of a pass right now, but you got guys like Kehl, Goff and Wilkenson who just don’t see the field, other than special teams.
Safety’s a concern obviously. Maybe D-Line..but they do get Alford back.
Also….the O-Line looks like it took a step back, maybe they wanna shuffle that around too?
But yea, too early and we probably shouldn’t be looking at who needs to go right now. Cuz it wasn’t but a few weeks ago that the Giants had NO needs….so it could all change in a couple weeks again.

Too early, i know
But as the season progresses, or regresses, it’s easy to identify weaknesses that need to be addressed. For our depth at LB, it’s a mystery with these guys, like you said, they don’t see the field! When i mentioned Robbins, i was thinking about Alford, though he’s going to be coming off an injury.
As much as i love the draft, i guess i’m always looking way ahead and wish somehow the Giants could get certain players. Though alot depends on what happens during FA too!

The Alford injury..
is probably one that I’d think he could be back for this season around week 12 or something like that. So he’s got plenty of time to come back. I think that Alford loss is a lot bigger than we all thought it would be, he was a good guy to have in the rotation.
I always look ahead too. I’m just saying, its amazing that a few weeks ago I was think that the Giants are gonna have a tough time decided who to draft cuz they have no needs at all….yet, now..looks like they need a whole new defense.
I do know that no matter what, they need a safety and I guess a MLB would be nice. I have no idea what they still think of Goff, but I know that whenever I look at a mock draft that they have Brando Spikes mocked to the Giants. I’ll take him over GOff I think (eye gouging and all…cuz that’s what I do anyway to myself when I see Pierce in coverage….)

It's hard to resist the urge to think about the future when were halfway now
But when you go into the season with the players we had on paper and now this, you go into GM mode! Just like Alfords injury, if he’s healthy, who do you cut coming out of preseason? Thats easy now! lol But the way things are going, Bernard, Cofield and Robbins not doing too much, something may happen here. Assuming Canty can hold his own physically and productively!
As for the draft, i wouldn’t mind Spikes either, and hopefully Sintim can actually get on the field with his upside to solidify that position. Moving to the S’s and not knowing KP’s future, this should be looked at seriously. Draft-wise, Taylor Mays and Eric Berry would look good. While i’m at it, maybe a CB too, given Ross’ endless hammy, but that could be addressed with a servicable FA veteran!
Though it’s not a sexy pick, it probably would be important to address the OL some more. Beatty getting some time now and adding to that would ensure we don’t lose anything from neglecting that area. Our line isn’t terribly old, but you need to safeguard against that with quality youth!
But as it stands, were halfway there, and it’s hard telling where the Giants may end up in the draft order, but i like thinking about it.

I really hope the Giants have no shot at getting Berry or Mays....
while I’d love for either of them to be patrolling at safety for the Giants…that would mean they have a top 10 pick……..meaning they probably don’t win a game the rest of the way.

It does make it easier i think when your on the outside
Of the top 10-15 when picking. Atleast you let other teams make up your mind easier and it becomes less of a guessing game. It seems like in todays drafts, nobody wants the top picks, and not only because of money, but the uncertainty with the picks that become busts. Too much time invested with no returns!
