BBV Week 9 pool
Close picks so far: Chi-Ari, 8-5; Phi-Dal, 8-5; all other picks at least 10-3 so far...
XLII and GiantRB27 got some distance from the pack this week, as they came into week 8 tied for first and both went 10-3.

it came out of a recent talk at a poker game
about how when it comes to spending & etc. the Sox and Yanks are quite similar. And After the Sox won their 2nd, the rose-colored glasses came off. And what other team could you like? Well Brewers = beer. However, I still don’t really know if it’s possible to “switch allegiances” or if I’m just going to stop caring about baseball as much. Anyway, I’m going to try to be a Brewers fan and see how that works out.

it's a cool stadium
in Milwaukee. I’ve seen the Mets up there a few times. (Only a 90 minute drive from Chicago.) I had a friend here who interned for the Brewers one season. He got to run in the sausage race – and won. The other racers were all “healthy” Wisconsin females, so he doesn’t brag too much…
I like the brewers team a lot, even though I mostly see them at Wrigley and root for the Cubs, or root for the Mets in Milwaukee.
by M. on Nov 6, 2009 4:24 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that's a good rational...
Beer = good. Brewers = beer.
Tho….the fact they play in “Miller” stadium…not really sure how much “Beer” they are….

bad idea copying GRS like that!
just kidding… Man I want to pick the Cards but all the CW says Bears… I went stricly on gut feeling last week and took 5 upsets and lost like 3 of them. I try as a rule of thumb to only take 2-3 upsets… Looking at Cincy and another big upset

I always make my picks outside of the vaccuum of what others do
I am not a strategic game picker, I just pick how I feel it.
by brisulph on Nov 5, 2009 2:17 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
my strategy
first I just pick all by gut. Then I look at the point spreads and I try not to take double-digit dogs unless I think I’m a mad genius. Then later in the week I try to think about what the teams did last week, who the home team is, etc., and make my final revisions… I never base any picks on what anyone in the pool picks, but I do listen to the talking heads at NFL radio… incidentally the top guys in this pool are outperforming some national TV commentators…

because you are doing so well
that Titans pick carries some weight! I think this week hinges on 3 games: Ari/Chi, Bal/Cin, and Dal/Phi. Anything else people pick as a rarety, like Cincy or Carolina, would just be gravy.
I’m wanting to pick Arizona to upset the Bears, Cincy to upset the Ravens, (both 3-point dogs) and I’d like to pick the ‘Fins but how are they 10-point dogs? I just don’t pick upsets that big.
FYI people, GB, ATL, NE, NO, and SEA are all double-digit favorites!
And can anybody remember the last time they debated NOT picking the Colts?
