UNCOORDINATED COORDINATORS
The Giants season and failure undoubtedly the result of poor coordinators both defense and offense. Flashback to last years playoff loss to the Eagles...Jacobs runs three consecutive times for 28 yards down to the 15 yard line then Gilbride calls three consecutive passes and no gain....a recurring theme with his play calling....the defense is loaded with talent but if that talent is not put in the proper position it will be subpar...Spags was an ace at that. You cannot blame injuries for that was the case the past two years even more so. The Giants need to shake things up and get new defensive and offensive coordinators. The fans deserve better.

a lot of people are defending gilbride
they shouldn’t……. We have the most predictable offense in the league. Eli’s efforts and the talent of the oline is the only reason why we’re not dead last in points / ypg

I agree. Although with Sheridan, it’s hard to tell whether he’s that bad or Spags was that good. I think most of us will agree that Spags was an amazing DC, and anyone’s going to struggle to reproduce the kind of success he had. Maybe our defense isn’t that talented, and was merely the beneficiary of a defensive mastermind. Then again, maybe Sheridan is simply not a good coordinator; it’s hard to tell.
As for Gilbride, I’ve made my position pretty clear. He does a lot of good things between the 20’s, but our persistent lack of success in the red-zone and in crucial short-yardage situations is very frustrating, and for this I think Gilbride is first to blame (though by no means entirely responsible). I asked this the other day, and I’ll ask again, what do you guys think of Charlie Weis as our OC? He’s been a very successful OC in the NFL and he’s got a history with the Giants.
Also, to be honest, I don’t think TC has done a good job this year. He’s never been a master schemer, but you expect his teams to be tough and disciplined, and this team is neither. It is well documented that Coughlin relaxed his iron-fist approach to coaching, and the Giants responded with a championship season. Now, however, I wonder if Coughlin has softened his edge too much.; it seems pretty apparent to me that the Giants have lost their hard-nosed identity. Should one mediocre season be enough to put TC on the hot-seat after two great seasons? Of course not. That being said, I’d love to see more of the old, fire-and-brimstone Coughlin in the future.
Agreed about TC
I also noticed watching the broncos game that he looked tired…. Just my 2 cents. I know that the Giants wont fire him. My guess is part of it comes from him having to do alot of explaining this season with the lack of success the team is having.
IM a huge ND fan
And even though Charlie has had his issues he is a great offensive coach. And is used to coaching talented QBs/WRs. I would love to get Charlie and drop Gilbride.
Offense is uncoordinated
You knew we were in trouble when Eli is calling a timeout 30 seconds into game. Doesnt Gilbride have at least 2 plays ready ? He takes 35 of the 40 seconds it seems to get in the play and all I do is yell snap the f***ing ball already at the TV. Oh look another delay of game penalty…unbelievable.
Delay of Game
I’m so glad i read this post. I thought i was the only one yelling at the TV saying “hike the ball already Eli”. I mean serious, Eli is not his brother but why in the heck is he constantly taking 42 seconds to hike the ball. I love it when he acts like he changes the play and then hands the ball off for 0 yards exactly where the run blitz was.
And what is with the 3rd and 1, let me throw a deep fade to my WR. What kind of idiotic play calling serious it worked once but that is just insane. Eli is not a run and shoot QB and we won it with ball control and timely third down conversions. Why does Gilbride insight on trying to go verticle. It’s just hard to watch this guys.
I yell at the TV all game
To no avail, Even though I swear a monkey could run the offense better than Gilbride. Mainly we are too predictable on offense. 2nd and long and here comes the screen…3rd and short here comes the bomb. We all know, and if we as fans know then I sure as hell guarentee you the opposing coaches know what plays we are going to run out of specific packages. As far as Sheridan goes, well with how much talent he has to work with he does not deserve a shot next season. Sorry man but you gotta steal a game somewhere and all you’ve done is give em away like free popcorn.
