Broncos 26, Giants 6: A wasted evening for Giants fans

Let's just say that if you are a Giants fan who doesn't have NFL Network and you were unable to see Thursday night's New York Giants vs. Denver Broncos game, you were lucky.

I wish I was you. The only good thing about the game for me is that it was kind of cool watching the whole thing on my Palm Pre. Otherwise, a total waste of an evening.

This was a pitiful, disheartening performance. Mathematically, the 6-5 Giants may still be in the playoff race. For me, though, it is painfully obvious that this year they just aren't good enough.

In the spirit of the season, I am thankful

that this game is OVER.

As the Grinch sang : “STINK, STANK, STUNK!”

We didn't even have a chance for the "perfect season", but we did have the perfect ending.

Just checking in

By the looks of it, and not being able to watch the game, i guess this was one not to watch! Just by reading a few comments already, i can envision what happened and what has to happen this offseason. JR is going to have his hands full!

Worst overall performance...

Since the playoff game against the Panthers, particularly in the first half (I think they stopped the bleeding in the 2nd half, but it was too little too late).

I think it’s a strong possibility that a significant part of this game was the short-week/long-flight/high-altitude combination. They’re nowhere near as bad as they looked in that first half; I’m sure of that.

sadly no

we got kicked badly in that game

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005%E2%80%9306_NFL_playoffs#NFC:_Carolina_Panthers_23.2C_New_York_Giants_0

Hopefully it was that combination. And hopefully that means Dallas overlooks us. As long as we beat dallas, this year won’t be a complete failure

Giants Fans

I promised I’d be back and thus I am. This was a good win for my Broncos and it feels good to win. With that said, PLEASE take out your aggression on Tony Romo and the Cowgirls. I hate them as much as you do. Good luck for the remainder of this season. You guys are all class.

Brad..Congratulations

Your team gave our guys a football lesson tonight..in every facet of the game..There is a huge difference in how we came out of a 4 game skid and how your guys did..Our team squeaked out a victory over Atlanta..Your team on the other hand came out there and were wild animals out there..every player did their job..I have been commenting all week that we were in for potential trouble and we sure were as it turns out..If that Bronco team plays like they did tonight for the rest of the season..they’ll be a team to be reckoned with..Frankly, from what I watched I can’t understand how they lost four games.

Not Sheridan's fault

that his defensive tackles can’t play, and that Osi can’t defend the run. Sheridan is far from blameless, but not everything is on him.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 27, 2009 8:28 AM EST up reply actions

What has happened to this team?!

They are just Awful!!!

I don’t think the owner compalining about this game a few weeks ago set the right tone for this team because it was painfully obvious they did not want the be there.

The players get a lot of the blame especally on both lines but I’m sorry the talent level has not dropped that much on D to warrant what we’ve been seeing. It’s not just dissapointing its pathetic, it’s one of the worst defenses in the league. Sheridan needs to be evalulated at the end of the year.

B-Jacobs had been a real dissapointment this year.

JR did a nice job with the WR position this year in the offseason but he made some big mistakes on D this past offseason. Lack of quality depth at saftey and the Bernard and Canty signing have been total disasters. Bernard just gets blown off the ball and Canty is flat out invisible out there.

Don’t resign Cofield and Robbins in the offseason they’re not worth it. Almsot all attention in the offseason should focus on rebuilding both lines and and briging in a few safteys. Lot of work to do, 2010 starts now in my book. Good night and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Canty

He is only on his 2nd game back and is stuck in a moron’s D scheme I have faith in him

by Ando81 on Nov 27, 2009 12:00 AM EST up reply actions

My hope is that they "man up"

and do what they need to do so we don’t consistently have guys out of place, not knowing what their assignments should be. They ran on us and passed on us seemingly with no concern tonight. We couldn’t tackle when the running back was immediately next to our guys. I would see him meet the clogged up line, and STILL get 4 yards. It was beyond poor.

We didn't even have a chance for the "perfect season", but we did have the perfect ending.

by GAgiantfan on Nov 27, 2009 12:12 AM EST up reply actions

Problem with BJ is

The fact we’re in love with the deep pass and pretty much destroyed our identity as a power team. Ever since we torched the Cowboys on SNF, we’ve played like, for the most part, a team that will sky it over you. Not Giants football in the lowest sense of the word.

by xMattex on Nov 27, 2009 12:51 AM EST up reply actions

Deep pass?..What deep pass?

Eli didn’t have time to throw even a screen pass..Our receivers stunk..I can understand Champ Bailey blanketing Smith..but the others?..No one open and no time to throw if they were open..and how can that Dejubabes (92) Whatever the hell his name is..a 5’11 dude not get blocked?..He was blowing through our line at will..and never got chip blocked by a back..Eli is probably dizzy right now..and what Bar do Sheridan and the other idiot Gilbride go to to get drunk and formulate their gameplans???

Cofield and Robbins

They’ve done yeoman service in the past. They haven’t recuperated from their ops and it looks like they never will. JR focused on bolstering the D in the off season. It needs a lot more bolstering.

I have never seen a Giants defense like this ‘thing" we are witnessing..For years our defenses were the only units we had to root for..This group plain stinks…The other thing I noticed is apparently AP didn’t go out with the team..He at least is valuable in coaching and cheering his team on like he did with Atlanta..Their are Zero leaders on this team.

Gotta say it...

something needs to be done before the next game.

I’ve never seen this iteration of the Giants defense be as out of position and tackle as bad as this squad tonight.

Maybe we need to move Sheridan to the booth where he feels comfortable? Firing him I don’t think would help right now.

Someone needs to tell Jacobs that the next time he bounces a run to the outside…he’s done for the rest of the game.

I know the problem with Jacobs. He got his money.

This is a guy who when he makes the first cut to the outside..he looks to bounce it in. This season? He bounces outside.

Free you echo my opinion exactly..

Jacobs is driving us crazy..He is running like a whimp..Alot of folks out here interject or assert that the staff is "protecting’ him..from what?..He is a 260lb North/South runner..period..I mentioned in an earlier post that I just watched stunned..and didn’t curse, but I have to admit when I saw him running tonight I was like, What in the hell are you doing?..When he does run up the gut he isn’t lowering the boom on anyone..They just dive at his ankles and he goes down like a 260 lb sack of potatoes..His claim to fame is lowering his shoulder and punishing people and he hasn’t done that at all this year..I have a couple of kids on my Pop-Warner team that could take him down..But you can be rest assured he’ll feed us all a bunch of bullshit..Like this week and past weeks..his latest bullshit when asked if they fixed their offensive woes he said: " No, we fixed alot but need some more tweaking" or something to that effect..Well BJ, let’s hear what “tweaking” you all did tonight???..Were you bullshitting us about moving forward, or talking about regressing into a bunch of collective ineffective bums?..Mission accomplished on the latter there BJ..

Embarrasing!

That was a terribly discouraging performance and I’m embarrassed for the Giants. One thing is certain, Eli is nothing like Peyton. They get the ball back with 5:05, down 20 points and run a play about once every 25 seconds. Never during the game did they look like they wanted to even play, much less win. I’m a hard core fan and can usually think of something positive, but I am absolutely at a loss tonight. They didn’t return a kickoff, had what, nine yards of offense in the first half, and it looked like the defense was slogging through molasses. Correction, the whole team looked like it was slogging through molasses. There was no energy. No effort. When was the last time Eli was sacked so many times in a game? Fumbles, interceptions….. and running Jacobs around the outside is like taking a bulldozer to the racetrack. It doesn’t belong there. I’m afraid the season is over.

by Fillossofer on Nov 26, 2009 11:49 PM EST reply actions

Eli..........

……..couldn’t wash Peyton’s jockstrap! To those of us Giant fans who really think Eli is great becuase his brother is great, get real!! Peyton wins without running games and when his “D” gives up lots of points. Eli wins when his team rushes for 200 yards (2008 until December) and the “D” does not allow 20 points. We’d be so much better off with rivers – at least he looks interested in winning and has some competitive fire!! And we would also have Merriman to sack their QB! Eli is the most overrated QB in the NFL, largely because of all the hype he gets from us NY fans.

by ZigNate on Nov 27, 2009 3:18 AM EST up reply actions

Many things wrong with that statement right now

The Colts D is #1 or 2 in points allowed. That’s hardly a terrible defense.

I’m not going to talk about Rivers. Rivers would hate to be in NY, plain and simple.

Season isn't over

Wasn’t feeling much better after the Vikings game in 2007.

While I’m not happy with the coaching, there’s not a single DT that is having the slightest impact, and that has to change. And while Jacobs isn’t looking great, he also isn’t getting the holes that were there a year ago.

by Mount17 on Nov 26, 2009 11:52 PM EST reply actions

gotta say...

yes, he actually is (not all the time..the Line has taken a step back).

But Jacobs is cutting a hole too late or bouncing to the outside where he’s too big and slow to not get tackled.

I disagree.

the O-line was never made to pass block and they are for the majority of games…pass blocking.

The RB is running scared on the runs so they don’t get in a rhythm passing the ball. The backup gets a great run, then fumbles the ball.

Danny Ware, when he didn’t fumble, looked pretty good. I can see why they don’t wanna give him the ball.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Nov 27, 2009 9:10 AM EST up reply actions

You know TC's operating style

Ware was on a short leash, and by screwing up that badly and costing the team 7, he was essentially done for the night at that point.

by brisulph on Nov 27, 2009 9:39 AM EST up reply actions

Completely agree.

I saw a nice drive get DERAILED because on 1st and 10 Jacobs ran right past a hole…RIGHT PAST IT just so he could go 7 yards parrallel to the line of scrimmage, and lose 3 yards. This set up a 2nd and 13, on that play he dropped a dump off from Eli.

Jacobs did not look like an NFL caliber running back today, that’s all that can be said.

Stop making the 07 comparisons

they more or less had the playoffs locked up by that point in 07 the conference was weak that year with little wild card competion and they have more competition this year. Sure Eli sucked but the Defense and running game were good that year. This team does not have the heart or guts of the 07 team.

by Landeta on Nov 26, 2009 11:59 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not comparing teams or situations

just reactions..I’m sure after that game there were calls for firings and benchings and talk of lack of guts, etc. I don’t know if this team can turn it around, and it sure doesn’t look good, but it wouldn’t be unprecedented.

by Mount17 on Nov 27, 2009 12:05 AM EST up reply actions

I hear you

but the only guy I was killing after the Minesota game in 07 was Eli. I was actually feeling bad for TC back then becasue I felt Eli was going to cost him his job that year.

This year they just stink. I don’t ever remember them in the TC era playing this bad all around so consistantly. Sure on 04 but they were rebuilding that year. In 06 they had a ton of injuries and even though they lost they still played hard down the streatch. This team in just awful.

In 2007..............

the Giants had nothing locked up until they won game #15 in a snowstorm in Buffalo, a miracle game in which they came from 0-14 down and won it on the ground…….. Ward or Bradshaw (I think) ran through the snow for an 80 yd TD.

by ZigNate on Nov 27, 2009 3:21 AM EST up reply actions

They still could of lost the Buffalo game and the NE game

finished 9-7 and made the playoffs that year. When they lost to Minesota they had a 3 game lead in the Wild card all they needed was a couple more wins this year they are a game behind two teams.

by Landeta on Nov 27, 2009 8:35 AM EST up reply actions

I agree to an extent Mount..

But Jacobs doesn’t need wide open holes right away..He needs to crash into them and put a hurting on them..then his holes open up..Nobody wants to get pounded by 260lbs ramming full tilt into them..They will instinctively hesitate…that is what he did and should be doing..If he keeps trying to break it outside than he is useless, cut him.

Strahans biggest thing was he was always gonna be a beast in the fourth quarter, Tuck is always the invisible man.

He seriously needs to improve his conditioning, or I will begin labelinghim overrated…much like Osi and his 5 sacks.

I remeber when the Giants had dissapionting seasons with Strahan people would get on him saying he’s no LT and never makes a play in a big spot. Tuck has played at an all pro level for two years and kicked ass in a Super Bowl already, yes he’s having a dissapointing year and needs to work on condidtioning but he can still be a fierce player. What concerns me about Sheridan

is the team is having the same problems and is making the same mistakes week after week.

I know no KP hurts and the D-tackles suck but still a good coach finds ways to minimize weakness and learns and adjusts. I mean Chris Canty was is coverage tonight?! Really Canty! He’s a D-Tackle. I don’t like it when Osi, Kiwi and Tuck are in coverage but at least they’re athletic.

I know Tim Lewis was not a great coach but even his Defenses were not this bad week after week.

The Giants did what they typically do when they loose good coordinators this offseason, they got complacent and hired a guy who might be a good goodball guy but is not ready to be a coordinator because they did not want to pay for a top notch coach. I had a bad feeling about hiring him when they did it based on past history and after 11 games I hate to say it but BS is not getting the job done and they may need to go in a different direction next year.

by Landeta on Nov 27, 2009 12:25 AM EST up reply actions

I don't know what to think with BS.

I mean, the guy wanted to coach from the booth, but the players wanted him on the sideline.

I don’t know if that’s the reason for it, but its gotta play a part. If he wanted to be up in the booth, he’s gotta do what he feels comfortable with.

Next season will obviously be with a different DC if the D keeps this up ( I would not be surprised if he’s gone before December…I really wouldn’t).

But, take a look at the D-coordinator who dominated the Giants today, Mike Nolan. He was up in the booth.

If that’s where you feel comfortable, that’s where you gotta be.

It really…really couldn’t hurt. But it could help.

I don't think the D-tackles suck

I think the schemes are fit for a speed, undersized defense, which the Giants definitely aren’t.

by xMattex on Nov 27, 2009 12:53 AM EST up reply actions

Interesting

We would have no idea in knowing that without being with the team but sometimes that’s what coaches do they force a sheme that does mesh well with the players talents. It could explain some of the issues like the entire defense guessing wrong on running plays.

by Landeta on Nov 27, 2009 8:43 AM EST up reply actions

there's no toughness on the interior of the line.

NONE.

They may be a bit oversized…Rocky Bernard and Fred Robbins looked like they had some TurDuckIN before the game.

2 injures, Jay Alford and Andre Brown, have been gigantic this year. We could really use a quick DT and a backup RB who’s hungry and wants to run effectively.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Nov 27, 2009 9:16 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah

I was thinking about the possibilities for next year, as we probably will need two new starters at tackle (unless Canty can show something) and completely forgot about Alford. When he got hurt I wasn’t so concerned because I wasn’t sure where his playing time was coming from, anyway – as it turns out he could have been huge. On the O-Line going forward, whether Beatty is a player will be a big key. And hopefully they can get Deihl back to guard.

And the three injuries that have killed us was Alford, Andre Brown and Kenny Phillips. Those losses have hurt more than I thought they would.

If Jacobs makes that last cut in, instead of towards the sideline on that play, he gains at least 4-5 more yards.

I was AT that atrocity.

There were pumped up Giants fans all over the section I was in. Then the game started. Then it was just a painful trail of tears to the end. The thing that bothered me the most is, I was sitting 3 rows from the field, right on the 40 yard line, so I could see the interactions of everyone on the sideline, sh*t I could actually hear a few conversations, and there was no passion. No excitement. No energy at all. I’ve seen people more excited around my office when someone shows up with a box of donuts. I was amazed at that. It was like a board meeting. The only guys who showed any fire at all were O’Hara and Nicks. Maybe that’s Eli’s personality, and the team has taken it on, which makes him a leader, I guess.

Seriously. Is there anything this team does well right now? Besides watching the other team score, that is. Brandon Jacobs is running like he’s scared to get hit, the defense can’t get off the field, and none of the skill positions seem interested in making a play. I see a lot of people have questions about Sheridan’s play calling; no debate here. Gilbride’s needs some examination too. This is a team that should have won the SB last year, but for whatever reason let it slip away, and now this season is looking like a lost cause as well.

and I’d like to know who those 4 or 5 players were because I didn’t see any..Thomas got a pick that they got 3 points out of Tynes who was in his range..which is 45-52 yards..thank God they didn’t get closer than that or he would have missed..He also actually hit the end-zone on a couple of kick-offs and we gave up 40+ yard returns because the STs can’t tackle…Feagles actually boomed some 50 yard punts..big deal..can’t tackle anybody.

I don't see why people have torched C-Web so much this year

Webster is NOT a man-to-man corner, he’s a zone cover guy who needs safety help at times, which he has not had much at all this year. As for Barden, I really think he’d help a lot with the receiving corps, but Tom Coughlin is all about his special teams because Hagan’s been active while Ramses has been wasted most of the year.

Accountable

I was at this game tonight. It was embarrassing from the opening series. No passion on either side of the ball, nothing different, nothing interesting, just more of the same and I will not make Sheridan my scapegoat although he clearly is overmatched as a DC and I will not make Gilbride my scapegoat as he clearly should not be the OC for this team with this collection of players at this time. I will not scapegoat anyone. Rather I will repeat my call for this to be Tom Coughlin’s last year as HC and that he takes his 2 coordinators with him into exile. Someone must be accountable and as the Head Coach ultimately responsible for signing off on the offensive and defensive game plans, as the Head Coach responsible for the game by game improvement of this team and the motivation of this team and the preparation of this team, all of which we are sorely lacking in, COUGHLIN MUST GO. This team needs a Bill Cowher, this team needs someone who is not Tom Coughlin, he of the red face and the disapproving parent look and the clear inability to change and make this team better. There are huge problems – but the biggest to me is the marked inability to change, to be interesting, to be less thsan predictable. TC is the head coach is charge of not changing. Let’s start changing from the top and at the end of the year bring in a new HC and his 2 new coordinators. That’s the first step.

It took Cowher twice as long because it seems that he had a new team every year. Year after year Pitt was hit with FA losses but he kept them competitive. Giants are barely competing this year. I agree

Accountability starts at the top. It’s Tom that approves the game plans week in and week out. It’s Tom that’s the head coach for a team that commits way too many penalties. It’s Tom that promoted BS as d-coordinator. It’s Tom that stands on the sidelines with zero emotion. What did Josh Daniels do on the sideline after his offense was called for 3 false starts inside the 10? He read his offense the riot act. Tom sits by and does noting during the games and it’s painfully obvious he doesn’t do anything during the week.

Fellas, the burden of proof is on you

For weeks I’ve been writing that since Plax shot himself TC has not changed the basic approach to the game and we have suffered as a result. So yes, he has proven that he has the “inability to change this team”. As for this comment – “Coughlin must stay.
If he can’t right this ship, no one can…that’s just a fact.” Yes, clearly that is a FACT. In what universe is that a fact?! No other coach, no other human, only TC. Okay, guess he’s our coach for life. And as for your second point – “And why on earth would you take Cowher over Coughlin? It took him twice as long to win a SB in Pittsburgh than it did for Tom to win one here…that’s just rubbish.” By your logic expressed there, George Seifert is the greatest coach in NFL history since he won in his first or second year. Yes, you’re right, “rubbish”. Enjoy the slow, maybe not so slow descent into mediocrity, overseen by your beloved Tom Coughlin. He must go and he must take his 2 coordinators with him. And if not Cowher, the next Cowher. Somehow Pittsburgh found one. Surely we can.

What Happened to This Team Part 2

Last season we were sitting at 10-1. From week 8 through 12 we dominated and dismantled some pretty good team. Steelers eventual SB champs, Eagle NFC conference champ losers, Raverns AFC conferernce champ losers and Cards SB losers. Since then we are 7-9. If we eliminate 4 wins this season vs some pretty bad team. Skins, Bucs, Raiders and Chiefs we are 3-9 our last 12. Are the Giants this bad?

Does anyone think a 3-9 team can suddenly turn around their season and make the playoffs? From what I’ve witnessed the last 6 games I just cannot see this team reaching the playoffs.

by FrankB0318 on Nov 27, 2009 2:03 AM EST reply actions

NO WAY

I can’t see the Giants getting into the playoffs this year — or any year — until a lot of changes are made. And Eli has that bored, disinterested, baffled look again – not good for team morale. Unless they can get it together soon, it’s looking like an 8-8 (?7-9) season.

As a longtime Giants fan I am not that surprised at what happened in Denver… this team has shown it’s true colors for weeks now. Ok, and I don’t want to hear any ’ it’s not time to panic’ talk, that is so lame and ignores the obvious. To me, the problems are multiple and no ‘quick fix’ can put humpty-dumpty back together again… this year. So let’s start with the coaches, shake up something now so it is understood that the organization recognizes that this 2009-2010 Giants team is not a playoff caliber team, let alone a Super Bowl contender. Start with this poor excuse of a defensive coordinator,
who as defensive coordinators go is truly offensive. Time for some rebuilding, I am thinking of a headline from the sports page during the Ray Handley era (error) ,,,, it said ‘Big Blue Doesn’t Have a Clue’. Well here we go again.

By the way, reading the postings and comments from Giants fans on this site I am very proud of how these fans are so knowledgable …. they know exactly what the deal is. Best football fans in the world,

LAST YEAR.......

The Giants ran the ball and Eli stood and watched – it was easy – low risk football…… until the other teams figured it out and stopped the run; since then the Giants are not very good, as Eli is a ‘manager’ not an elite QB. When they challenge you to throw the ball to win, you have to find a way to do it. Perhaps copy some of the better offensive teams passing plays? Let’s face it: in 2007 the Giants needed a miracle win in Buffalo (running for 200+ yards in the snow) coming from 14-0 down just to get into the playoffs, and then had one of the more improbable playoff runs in history. They were a medicre team (on a roll) then and they are now. Eli’s career QB rating is in the 70s……if that isn’t mediocrity, then what is??? He will be a one-and-done SB winner, like Dilfer and Brad Johnson………. a ‘manager’ on a team with a great “D” on a roll.

I read a few of your comments on the Broncos blog.

YOu seem like an instigator rehashing all sorts of stereotypes on the team that you hear and try to instigate stuff.

You did it after the SD vs. Denver game, and your trying to do it now with Eli and the Giants

Get out, what your doing is called “trolling”.

Giants defense - "Weak like the Ukraine"

This is the first time in a couple of years that I have seen the Giants’ just get rolled on both sides of the ball like that.

Every Giants’ fan seems to be yelling about the defense coordinator but I see a defense that can’t get a consistent pass rush including from Osi and Tuck, has some weak DT tackles, no playmakers at LB with Pierce out, and a secondary that has 2 decent CBs (Webster/Ross) but the absolute worst safeties in the league and crappy nickel/dime CBs. Hard for any defense coordinator to cover up that many holes.

Don’t worry though about playing the Eagles’ offense in two weeks though. I am sure that Reid will completely overlook how the Broncos continued to pound the ball tonight with Moreno/Buckhalter. Instead, he will come out with one of his patented “lets throw the ball at least 70% of the time” even if it is a close game.

Have you not seen Boley? Really?

No

Giants’ friend hyped him up when I was talking but it takes more than 3-4 games during a season to say a guy is really a “playmaker.” Watched that game tonight and there wasn’t a single Giants’ LB who played that well including Boley.

Not Impressed

Boley has had a few good games but I’m not overly impressed. He’s not consistent. Makes me wonder why he lost his starting job last season.

Playmaker

We’d be a lot better off with a playmaker like Merriman……………… and then we’d also have a better QB in Rivers. Accorsi sold us out years ago by making the Eli trade. Big mistake………HUGE!

by ZigNate on Nov 27, 2009 2:35 AM EST reply actions

Oh yeah???

How many Superbowls have those two led the Chargers to?? I’ll take the SB 42 win with Eli over an overrated Rivers and an already washed up Merriman anyday.

If you paid attention to the Chargers game....

before that final drive, Eli outplayed Rivers.

Bring back Spagnola !!!!

Last year we had an unjured Tuck , without Osi , and a bunch of squad B free agent and we were putting a lot more pressure on oposing quaterbacks ,that means something is wrong with this new coordinator …

Spagnuolo

left on his own accord to be the Rams coach.

For most of the year

we have been forced by injury to play second stringers in the secondary. Couple that with inadequate linebacker play and uninspired defensive play calling and it’s easy to see why we our once proud defense is suddenly so porous.

On offense Eli is nervous in the pocket (for good reason) and barely has enough time to throw fie yard routes. The league has figured out that we do not execute when opponents blitz and until we can scheme ways to make them pay for their extra pass rushers they will just keep coming.

In the area of special teams I’m sure everyone saw last night how nice it is to have a kicker that keeps the return team bottled up on the twenty. I did notice that Feagles kicked well again.

I hate to admit it but I actually turned the game off in the third quarter, something I have never done before. It was simply too painfully obvious that we didn’t come to play.

I turned the game off

too, 57—a first for me as well.

I couldn't turn the game off

I was at the game. Luckily I was with a gorgeous and knowledgeable fan. But even gorgeous and knowledgeable is better when the Giants win. Such is life.

Stop blaming injury !!!

Remember last year we were force to play squad B free agents and we were not this bad .This year we have replacement players that are much better than them.

Really?

I didn’t see them last year. Because INJURIES weren’t a factor.

A note of optimism

The situations on defense, offense and coaching point to a wonderful opportunity — systematic rebuilding of the Giants during the next couple of years! We could get running backs who actually run! Linemen who can block and tackle! I’m getting excited just thinking about it!

But, alas, we may have to weather an experience similar to those of 49er fans during the past decade: a once great team in many sided decline.

This team is still one of the league's youngest

In a way, I knew we would struggle like this. In a way, this is a complete shock. With that said, I really do think 2010 is the year we’re the league’s elite again.

Ramses Barden

When will we see this guy, he’s a mammoth with great hands, he was the talk of the pre season, will it really hurt the team to get him out there?

by Gary I on Nov 27, 2009 5:05 PM EST reply actions

I heard Eli's

been working with him after practice on the helmet catch. Thing is, his hands are so big they don’t have the kind of digital dexterity (like Tyree’s) to make it on a consistent basis. It’s a shame KG doesm’t get the credit he deserves for coming up with that play. Pure genius. I’ve heard TC refuses to use it until the next Giants’ appearance in a SB. It really won’t work if the other team is expecting it and has the right D set up.

Coughlin, Sheridan, Gilbride, AND Players all at Fault

Let’s be Frank here,… all the above are at fault and it starts like this, Coughlin got a free pass for us winning a Super Bowl 2 years ago but most of all his football knowledge is not keeping up with how the NFL is evolving. His know-how is just as old as he is. Same thing with old man Gilbride, and old ‘thinking’ Sheridan. The entire coaching staff has a lack of motivation, thus the players have a lack of motivation. These morons had no answer for a hybrid 1-5-5 defensive scheme that rushed 3 at times and droped back eight and completely dominated our offense. I guess Coughlin already got his retirement savings ready so, he could care less. Gilbride was never good at adapting to anything new that has been displayed on the field by opposing defenses, so I can’t blame Eli for looking like a deer in headlights when he sees it in a game. Sheridan is a lame duck DC who is not very innovative with our defensive schemes either. Lastly, the whole attitude and body language of our players collectively,( excluding Terrel Thomas, who is to me the only one ever makes any big plays for the D-fense) is of failure. They just aren’t hungry enough, to win. They play soft, (especially our aging offensive line) stupid, and tired. Hate to say it folks, the players who did get the big bucks in the offseason aren’t worth but a few hundred dollars of it.( Eli and Brandon Jacobs) Jerry Resse definitely over looked our paper thin depth in our secondary and failed to bring in any free agents such as a Brian Dawkins that could’ve helped our D-fense out a little. With Dallas, Philly, and even Minnesota in three of the last five games, I barely see us winning one of these last five the way the Giants have been playing. Sorry my Big Blue faithful, time to stick a fork in us, this season is a WRAP!!!!
