Telling defensive numbers: The Giants are 2nd in the league in yards allowed, but tied for 23rd in points allowed and last in Red Zone defense. | ||
Happy Thanksgiving night, everyone. Let's hope the Giants don't upset our full bellies and give us indigestion tonight. If you don't have NFL Network, hopefully you will be able to find a place to watch the game. I will have the very unique experience of watching the game on my Palm Pre, which will be cool except for the two-inch screen.
Use this as your Open Thread to discuss the action. Enjoy!

FYI that LA doc concurs with Giants about AP.

From a broncos fan to you. Consider it a pregame peace offering (although after kickoff it won't be so peaceful). Happy Thanksgiving.

you too
I’ve got no hate for the Broncos, but you’re going down tonight (I hope…)

Same here. I don't hate the giants either, but both teams definitely need a win tonight. It's going to be a war.
Enjoy the stream (or NFLN if you have it).

my hope
is that the Giants win tonight, but then the Chargers finish this year like the Broncos finished last year and you overtake them at the end. I hate the Chargers for some weird reason.

haha, You and me both. LOL. I knew it wasn't just broncos fans who hate the Chargers.
I think everyone can agree to dislike the chargers. They are just a bunch of punks.
I’d love nothing more than for them to lose every game in december. Trust me, if you could guarantee the chargers losing this game, I would gladly give you this victory.
Have a happy turkey day, guys and gals.

Let’s hope that the Gmen end this night on a high note for us. We can’t afford to lose with both the Pack and the Girls winning. Win tonight sets up a huge showdown next week as we all know. Let’s all cross our fingers and pray to the football gods for a Giant win!!

Just a quick question before the game starts and I'll go back to MHR. Just curious. Who will you guys miss more tonight? Pierce or Bradshaw?
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I think Bradshaw… unless we can’t stop the run game.
by lboogie25 on Nov 26, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that's a tough one
if they’re both fully healthy, I’d say Bradshaw. But at partial strength, definitely Pierce – most of what he brings to the table at this point is his brains, whereas Bradshaw relies so much on his quickness. He’s just been awful lately.

my parents have an awesome 36 inch HD TV (at least it’s awesome to a poor student like me who normally watches tv on my ghetto set that’s from like 1995), but they don’t subscribe to the HD channels! What’s the point!?!? Everything looks so fuzzy.

In Osi's defense
He’s playing against the best left tackle in the NFL.. I wish the Giants Would rotate the ends more, it might be more effective getting Osi Matched up against someone other than Clady.

by lboogie25 on Nov 26, 2009 9:40 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
small positive
if this were like the Saints and Eagles games, Eli would have coughed that one up for a defensive TD. Baby steps.

This is like falling down the stairs
but instead of breaking their necks (like the Eagles and Saints games), it is more spraining of the neck. Still incredibly painful, but not quite AS bad.

just start pulling guys the 09 season is over.
They have no heart. I can’t belive I’m saying this but they just have no guts.
I can’t believe I’m watching a Couglin coached team with the majority of guys from that gutty griddy 07 team.
Lossing is one thing but not givining an effort when you still have a shot at the playoffs is disturbing.

Hi I'm Cowboys fan
Not here to talk shit, but man I’m shocked that the Giants offense hasn’t gotten going yet. Don’t give up yet Denver can and will let you back in the game. Keep the hope and I’m looking forward to our game. I don’t like your recent slide I like it when both teams are playing well, and i’ll be honest even though Dallas got a W today they didnt play that well themselves. It’s a long year, and the G-men aren’t dead yet.

classy, and I hope you’re right, but I’m starting to doubt it. Good teams don’t get blown away 3 times in 6 weeks, and this game is heading that way

Considering we still...
…drop Tuck back into pass coverage what seems like every other play, it has to be a mix. The zone blitzing is not working. Not in the least. Sheridan also has no clue how to get his players to be able to defend a TE.
by Jonathan. on Nov 26, 2009 9:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that was actually Canty which was even worse.
by lboogie25 on Nov 26, 2009 10:00 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
more than once
on canty — continues to drop back and still let TE run right by him. take advantage of the 5-yd rule and at least f***ing bump the guy before he gets out into space if you can’t run with him. ridiculous.
by tulls200 on Nov 26, 2009 10:02 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I disagree
the coaches job is to get these guys ready to play, and this team was not ready to play tonight. Inexcusable. Obviously the players deserve a lot of the blame, but the coaches don’t get off free on this one

With the 3rd play
being a poorly drawn up screen pass on 3rd and 8 to Jacobs that gets 3 yards.

I wouldn't be scared of a big man...
…that stops in his tracks running to the side, either. Dude has not been able to run downhill all year to this retarded ass offensive scheme. We run Bradshaw up the middle and Jacobs to the side. I don’t understand this for the life of me. Does Gilbride think he’s “tricking” people?
