Breaking news: Bills fire Jauron

From NFL.com:

The Buffalo Bills have fired coach Dick Jauron after directing the team to a 3-6 record.

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is expected to become the Bills' interim head coach, a Bills source told NFL.com's Vic Carucci. The team said Jauron's replacement would be announced later. Jauron's successor is expected to come from the current staff and be on an interim basis only.

"I am announcing today that I am relieving Dick Jauron from his duties as our head coach, effective immediately," Bills owner Ralph Wilson said in a statement. "I have tremendous respect for Dick and thank him for all of his efforts during these past four years. While this was a very difficult decision, I felt that it is one that needed to be made at this time for the best interest of our team. We will now focus on moving forward and preparing for our game this week in Jacksonville."

I almost feel bad for Bills fans.

Maybe they hire Gilbride at the end of the season?

KG to the BILLS? please... please... please !!!

That should solve all of Buffalo’s problems
as long as they don’t have to score touchdowns
instead of FG’s from inside the other teams 20

Brilliant!

Can anyone remember any team doing well when the head coach was fired mid term? It just shows why Ralph Wilson cannot field a product that makes squat for money, even in a small market where there’s a severely loyal fan base. Go ahead, Ralph, move the team to Toronto, you hoser.

He was the DC for the Jags under coughlin

I doubt it happens, but the circumstances sure could be right.

Does anyone know if he was any good as a DC?

Not bad...

If it should come to that, I’d rather them look at other options.

I’d think that with Coughlins still around, he’d get an interview at least

The thought

did cross my mind that Jauron would be out there if Sheridan doesn’t work out.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 18, 2009 5:20 PM EST up reply actions

Do you think that would be a good idea?

From wiki, Coughlin and Jauron coached together, so I’m sure Coughlin might think about it.

He would give us stability at DC, assuming he’d give up aspirations to be a HC.

So wait, if and/or when Jacksonville beats the Bills this weekend...

…they go to 6-4 and are suddenly back in the playoff hunt?

If this is the case, they will easily be the shakiest 6-4 team out there.

Could become very dangerous, that is if they show up every week… instead of every other week.
