Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

Wednesday Eli update

From my Associated Press feed at work:

"Just from what I've seen and heard, he'll be out there." -- Domenik Hixon

"Knowing him and knowing how confident he is, I'm pretty sure he'll be ready to play come Sunday." -- Chris Snee

Star-divide

And from Matt Moseley: "Manning has said he intends to play. Coughlin said he's willing to take the decision whether or not to start Manning until game time Sunday. He said Manning could play even if he did not practice all week."

The Man-ning issue

Eli will play. Hopefully just a half as we cruise big this week.

the team is better off with hixon just on special teams

hixon is not a good wr period
the last drive he played we staled since hes been gone the o has looked much better w./ marrio and steve lets hope hixon dropped to a least 4th on the depth chart b/c of his inury

that may be true...

but I don’t know about you, but I still have a image of Hixon absolutely torching the Redskins in that first game sans Plax last year.

The rest of that season and seemingly this season, the guy can’t stay healthy or even stay on the field at all like this saeson.

You’re way off base saying he’s “not a good WR period”. That’s absolutely not correct. He probably is better as a KR, but that’s cuz he was an elite KR.

I think most def. he can help this team as a WR. He needs to get back on the field and show it tho.

The WR I saw against the Redskins that game is not in any way a guy who can be called not good.

The guy who showed up against Philly...

That’s the guy I’d say has room for significant improvement.

"We'll show up tomorrow and do the same thing we try to do every day, kick Pedroia's ass in cribbage and try and win a baseball game."

that guy also

had a pulled hammy.

I’m saying a healthy Hixon is as good as any WR on the Giants not named Steve Smith.

Keyword, healthy. He hasn’t been able to stay that in a while.

Agreed to an extent.

I agree when healthy he’s got the same level of ability as Ham, but not Swiss. Although at this point I like what I’m seeing out of Nicks, and I’ll put him out there ahead of Hixon every time.

Also even with his pulled hammy Hixon was 5 yards beyond any Philadelphia defenders, kid just had buttuh finguhs.

no doubt...

I think Hixon and Ham are equivelent. Ton of talent, but it only seems that for single games or short stretches that they stick out.

Swiss sticks out every game, and I have little doubt that Nicks will start to become uncoverable once he gains experience.

I’ve said it a million times…but Coughlin REALLY seems to be building that offense he had with Jacksonville all those years back.

I’ve been spot on calling Smith a Keenan McCardell clone.

As for the other prolific WR in that O. Jimmy Smith, its gonna be tougher to “clone” him. But from either HAM or more likely Nicks….the Giants most def. have that sort of O in mind.

I can see that.

There are definite similarities at the wideout position. Did Fred Taylor have a change of pace back? I can’t remember…

I like Eli for a better career than Brunell though haha

Yea...

James Stewart. More of a Duece McCallister type, than a Jacobs (well…really no one in history is a Jacobs….)

He was probably only 10 lbs heavier, but definitely the power guy, tho Fred Taylor was a pretty powerful guy too.
