Random thoughts after 4 weeks
1. I hate Chris Canty
2. I can't wait to see a healthy full squad and hope I do soon.
3. Ha Ha, Dallas.
4. Some teams have bad punters. We have a bad kicker. So far, we're good enough anyway.
5. A Giants game with a top-notch pass attack for the first time I can ever remember. After Plax & Toomer. Whu??
6. Chris Canty is one expensive and large hefty bag of manure
7. 4th quarter vs. KC, I wanted to see the Carr-Trell show again like in TB. Not that it's exciting or even enjoyable, but it means rest & safety for Eli, Jacobs, Bradshaw. Tholse Chiefs were chippy and I was stressing toward the end over potential injury.
8. Steve Smith! To fantasy players who took smith and not Manningham, you know the Giants. To others, you drank the kool-aid
9. How much of our success has to do with playing crud squads? Washington, TB, and KC are easily bottom-7 teams. Dallas is mid-pack. I'm confident we'll play well against all top teams, but it's bothering me to not have had that experience yet. Also, could this easy sched. be lulling players into lower performance?
10. Travis Beckum!
11. Chris Canty is a Cowgirl double agent.
12. Glad I got off the Killdrive bandwagon during the preseason
13. Oh, Spags. I'm so sorry.
14. No injuries in the Oakland game would be great.

why so much Canty hatred?
I’ll admit i’m frustrated, but if he’s in the dog house for being injured might as well throw Sintim and Ross in that category as well.

Sintim and Ross
aren’t ex-Cowpies! And they aren’t mega-sucking money holes, giant free-agent signing and part of our new signature defenseive line … So they get more grace from me. Also I glanced at something about Ross having mental issues, about wanting to play? Not sure what’s up there, but there’s no room for psyche issues in football. You’re not a kicker. Go home if you wanna cry, maybe call up Stacy Andrews

I feel
terrible for Spags…. I thought he would do much better especially from what I saw of his team in the preseason but cant take to much stock in that I know.
He has to get his players in there and he should be fine but there are going to be some serious growing pains over the next 2 seasons.
Why feel sorry
for Spags. He made a choice knowing that he was going to a team that didn’t have much talent. It’ll be interesting to see if he can turn things around. But win lose or draw, this is what he wanted.

crud squads?
the giants are like this every year
they never really kill a team that sucks
but when they play a team that really good they always stay in the game and pull out with a W
it is just the nature of the the franchise

I can see it now:
Power rankings from John Clayton:
1. Colts
2. Saints
3. Patriots
4. Vikings
5. Bengals
6. Giants
Here is a picture of Clayton:

We had a pretty top-notch passing attack
as recently as Kerry Collins to Barber, Shockey, Toomer, and Hilliard. In fact, I believe Collins went over 4,000 yards in that wacky 2002 season.
The raidahs
I bet that Giant defense is going to come in very hungry and feed off the home crowd energy. This will be a laugher early.
Maybe Canty is a Cowpie double agent...
cuz he fails at his job like they do.
I don’t think so tho.
See, this is all part of the plan for the Gints. This early schedule is so damn easy, why even play him and get him tired this first quarter of the season?
We’re trying to play 19 games and sure as hell aren’t playing the Raiders or the Chiefs more than once.
He’s here for depth. I got hte feeling that he, like Ross and Sintim (don;‘t know what the hell is Boley’s problem tho…) will be playing when they really need him.
What the f$%k is the internet?
you know how people were saying the eagles
are soo stacked on their defense and secondary. hows that going for them? are they really deep? are we deeper then them?
Hey, even if Canty never plays a down
for the New York Giants, his signing has nonetheless paid dividends already.
Have you checked Demarcus Ware’s numbers lately? The man who nearly broke Stra’s sack record last year has failed to bring down any opposing QB even once in four games this year.
I seem to recall some angst expressed on the Cowboy blogs back when it was still uncertain as to whether Canty would remain in Dallas or fly the coop. The talk was that Canty’s ability to occupy more than one blocker on many a play was a major factor in freeing up Ware to terrorize opposing QBs in 2008.
Of course, once the Giants signed Canty, the Cowboy faithful decided those grapes were awfully sour, after all. And when Jerruh signed Olshansky a few weeks later, Cowboyfan triumphantly proclaimed that Igor would be able to do exactly what Canty did but at a much cheaper price tag.
Nowadays, I’m not feelin’ much love for Igor over in Jerruhworld. Turns out he’s JAG (just another guy) on the Dallas D-line. Accordingly, opposing offensive coordinators no longer have to account for him to the degree they once had to account for Canty. This enables them to gameplan for Ware using resources they did not have at their disposal last year. Hence his zero sacks in four games.
Hey, I’m frustrated, too. I was as anxious as anyone to see the extra dimension that Reese’s free agent crown jewel would add to the Giant defense. But to allow that frustration to declare Canty a Dallas double agent? Well, that’s just plain silly. Not when his absence fron the Dallas lineup has had such a negative impact on their defense.
In short, any move that significantly weakens a hated divisional rival can’t be all bad. And once Canty actually starts playing, it will looks a whole lot better (and, yes, it will happen. Eventually. Hamstring injuries don’t end careers)

nicely stated. His departure from Dallas has affected Ware’s production, but just think what his presence in the lineup is going to do for Tuck and Osi. If Canty can still draw a double, then those two on the edge are going to be 1 on 1 with some poor soul.
thank you....
this was a great post.
I’ve often argued w/ the dallas people on espn about just that….
I think it’s a great addition and I can’t wait for him to be out next to Tuck.

No argument from me Andiamo708..
Canty could turn out awesome for you guys. But something tells me he should be a DE. The only reason why the Giants don’t use him there is because they are already stacked there. But in Dallas’s 3-4, his position was similar to a DT.

great analysis
I rec’d it.
"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09
I got news for you Knickfan...
but Canty underachieved his whole time in Dallas. I’m not saying this in any way but being realistic (and respecting my father being a Giants fan), but I really can’t believe the Giants needed Canty so badly and paid him what they did. Is everyone here prepared here to tell me without Chris Canty, that the Giants D-line has suffered? That’s a real laugh. Did the Giants organization sign Canty to hurt the Cowboys D-line? No, they signed him because he seems to have the measurables of an elite player, That’s why I say he underachieved in Dallas.
Whether you love Igor or not Knickfan, the results for the Cowboys is just about the same. Igor is a better deal for them, with similar production. The real interesting question is what is Canty’s performance going to be like in the Giant’s Dline. Is he worth what they paid for him? That is yet to be seen. Ware’s sack numbers have less to do with Canty, and more to do with little pressure coming from the other LB (Spencer). For every Lawrence Taylor, there must be a Carl Banks.

You Know njgiant
When I talk to alot of other Cowboy fans about how tough the Giants D was back then, they kind of laugh it off. But since I have a pretty big Cowboy and Giants DVD collection going back to a long time ago, when I pop in some of those old games and show them, They’re jaws just drop when they see what it was like to play against LT and Banks.
There was one play in particular where Tony Dorsett and Hershel Walker got into a pushing match with LT and Carl Banks. I’ve got to give Walker credit for being tough enough to hang in there with LT to be honest with you.Tony Dorsett was entangled with Carl Banks, but he seemed to be the instigator that started the whole thing in the first place.
