don't let a terrible team hang around
That’s how you get upset.
by long time listener on Oct 4, 2009 1:33 PM EDT reply actions
Doesn't matter
They’re passes that an NFL receiver can’t drop, let alone POP UP for other defenders to catch.
That’s on Manningham, plain and simple.
that was also
a pass that the highest-paid player in the NFL, throwing without a defender pressuring him, should be able to throw so it leads the receiver rather than is behind him.
manningham
is one step forward 2 steps back. dropped pass, big play, then another dropped pass.
No....
it was thrown behind him. Could have caught it, but it was a badly thrown ball.
What the f$%k is the internet?
pretty soon
manning will stop throwing to him at all
son of a bitch
cannot have stupid turnovers
by GiantsReignSupreme on Oct 4, 2009 1:34 PM EDT reply actions
Yes it was.
Those passes are easily catchable.
At the very least, they should NOT be allowed to pop up.
The way Manningham is receiving the ball is he’s waiting for the ball and “scooping” it.
That’s the wrong technique for a ball thrown at your shoulders.
whatever....
bad play on both parts.
Its not 100% on anyone.
Throw should be better, catch should be made.
What the f$%k is the internet?
At least your willing to admit that it was "partially" Manningham's fault.
The problem is that if you’ve seen Mannningham play these past few games, you’ll realize that he doesn’t have good hands.
Manning basically has to hit Manningham between the numbers and in his hands – and even then Manningham will juggle the ball.
That is a serious liability – juggling the ball – and Manningham has been doing it alot because he anticipates “scooping” the ball.
The mentaility behind that is a guy who “waits” for the ball to come to him rather than “reaching out” to “go get” the ball.
That DEFINITELY doesn’t instill confidence when you’re a QB.
still don't know about that.....
HAM’s got good hands…I’ve watch plenty of HAM these few games, I don’t know where you made that up.
I’ve seen plenty of WR drop that ball.
Bottom line, better throw. Or make the catch.
Doesn’t matter anymore, but its not gonna hurt confidence either way Id think. Bad throw, worse catch.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Bttom line.
Any receiver knows that if a ball has the potential to hit you above the waist up to your outreached forearm in front, it’s your responsibility to catch it.
If Manningham doesn’t try to make a catch on that ball, it hit him in the shoulder.
End of story.
It’s his play to make or to boot, and he booted it.
Beckum sighting!!

How did the G-men not score after Manningham's big catch?
I left the restaurant and I see they did not score. Turnover I know, but who, why, and how?
If it's a bad throw, Manningham should NOT have had it.
But the throw hit him in the left BICEP (so it was actually an easier catch than I first thought).
The throw wasn’t PERFECT, but it’s Manningham’s responsibility to adjust to that throw.
At the very least, he CANNOT pop up the reception.
He screwed up – badly.
Not even his brother Peyton makes perfect throws every time fool.
The question is:
Should the throw have been caught?
Absolutely.
Trying to pawn this off on Eli and excuse Manningham is ridiculous.
I guarantee you that any offensive coordinator looking at the last few plays by Manningham is worried about the RECEIVER’S inability to make plays, NOT ELI’s.
I never claimed that anyone makes perfect throws EVERY TIME
But the fact that Eli has a ring does not automatically excuse the fact that he makes bad throws more often than you would expect for someone who is paid as highly as he is. It should’ve been caught, but it also should’ve been thrown better. The difference is that Eli is the highest paid player in the league and Manningham is a second-year player making his third NFL start.
There it is again.
A throw that hits a receiver IN THE LEFT BICEPS is not a BAD throw no matter which direction the receiver is running.
It is not a PERFECT throw, but it is not a BAD throw.
And in such a throw the question is not:
“Why didn’t the QB throw the ball 6 inches to the right – flush between the numbers?”
It’s not even a question of:
“Why didn’t the receiver catch the ball”?
It’s a question of:
“Why did the receiver allow a POP-UP INTERCEPTION on a throw that would have HIT him?”
Manningham is still growing.
He’s an average wide receiver that’s had good games early.
His problems include some bad routes (which happens to everyone) but also the one-dimensional inability to ad lib … he forgets to come back to the ball when the play breaks down.
But his greatest liability that needs fixing is are “butterfingers”.
He’s not just waiting for the ball to come to him, he’s simply got bad hands.
bad hands?
in Madden 2010?
Where do you see it? a drop on a bad throw, a bobble on his 43 yarder, a bobble on his TD catch against Dallass?
He had 10 catches that game, many on nice catches.
You’re wrong if you think this kid has bad hands,
What the f$%k is the internet?
It was not because of the throw.
Eli hit Manningham in the back shoulder.
It was not the greatest throw but no receiver, not even in Pee Wees and Pop Warner, will tell you that a receiver shouldn’t catch that.
Behind the receiver?
Yes, it’s a bad throw.
But if it hits you above the waist?
It’s acceptable.
What is unacceptable is for Manningham to pop it up for defenders to intercept.
And he’s been making a bad habit of that.
why are you even arguing?
it was a laser thrown behind him. Hit him in the arm, but he would have had to make a one armed catch ….
Bad throw, bad attempt to make a nice catch.
INT happened, shit happens. Let it go.

Steve “The Silent Assassin” Smith is doing it again! Looking good so far in this game. I was about to throw up when Cofield went down. He’s back in the mix thank goodness. Manningham doesn’t seem to be himself today. I hope that changes as the game progresses.

Nice catch HAM.
What the f$%k is the internet?
What's eating Mario Manningham?
He seems really off today, unless Eli is throwing missiles to him, he seems to be having trouble concentrating on the ball. I think that last play was a catch and the refs miscalled it. I’m glad Coach is challenging it.
GO NY GIANTS!!
damn man...
you won’t let it go.
You a Ohio State fan or something?
That was actually an easy overturn challenge.
He caught it, 2 feet down, then the guy stripped it out after he was already down by contact.
It was a nice catch, like the INT would have been if he caught it.
What the f$%k is the internet?
I agree
Manningham made that catch and it was pushed out after he was down. the refs must have gave KC that for the blown call against Smith. Were even now.
GO NY GIANTS!!
You said:
“it was a laser thrown behind him. Hit him in the arm, but he would have had to make a one armed catch”
Where’s your brain?
For that matter, where did you learn to play football?
You don’t use “one arm” to catch a throw that hits you in the left biceps – which even you admit is what happened.
You CERTAINLY don’t “scoop” the pass because you’ll just pop it up for an interception – which is exactly what Manningham did.
What every receiver is taught on passes above the diaphragm is to turn the hands over and reach for the ball;
“YOU CATCH THE BALL, YOU DON’T LET THE BALL CATCH YOU”.
But on that play, Manningham “scooped” the ball and it’s a problem that MUST be addressed because – like it or not – those acrobatic juggling catches are NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN…
because more often than not, those plays WILL TURN AGAINST YOUR TEAM.
it was behind him.
He’s going one way, the ball’s going the other.
Where you played football, or learned physics, I don’t know.
I also don’t know where you think I’m blaming the whole thing on Eli.
I said bad throw, worse catch.
You = HAM hater.
What the f$%k is the internet?
So:
You’ve gone from
(1) This is Eli’s fault.
to
(2) This is Eli’s fault but it’s also Manningham’s fault.
to
(3) This is Eli’s fault but Manningham’s more at fault, but I’m a Manningham hater.
You are making good progress my son.
Keep taking notes.

Why punt from opponents 35 ?
Either a long FG try – its in Tynes range – or go for it
If they fail to get a 1st the Chiefs get ball on 35 with no chance of return.
that was their 2nd first down of the game....
why give them a shorter field if Tynes misses the long one?
What the f$%k is the internet?
Controlling field position
is what the Giants do. If you have a weapon like Feagles, you got to use it when the opportunity arises.
I'm with you
I have faith in our D even if the ball is at the 35. Plus, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to get a touchback, so you’re only netting 15 yards. (Though Feagles is pretty good at getting it inside the 20, as he did there.) That might be the time to trust in Eli and our receivers and go for it. Oh well. It’s all academic at this point.

2 minute warning
The Giants have looked good so far. There were some dropped passes and some bad passes so far. Nothing to worry about though as the offense seems to keep rolling. The Eli INT wasn’t his fault, as is the case most times with his INT’s. The Big Blue D is smothering KC. They might score again in this game.

These guys, especially Eli, have got to be the best at the two minute drive. They’re almost automatic.
HALFTIME
The G-men are winning the game as expected. Kevin Boss looks shaken up at the end there. The offense is well balanced and moving the ball at will. The defense is standing tall and not allowing KC to do much. Special teams is firing on all cylinders. we are all NOT idiots for knowing this would be domination today.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Who knows?
Maybe they jump from team page to team page each week as their only means of entertainment, seeing how they are about to 0-4 for the season.
GO NY GIANTS!!
HEDGECOCK!
No jokes you guys! I’m SUPER SERIAL!

FREAKING NICKS!
But Eli is hurt… that throw was a drop off pass IMMEDIATELY
and by that I mean
the pass looked bad they way he threw it… he is not able to throw correctly.
take Eli
the fuck out now

the best part
was the hesitation to get in the endzone

He's tough
I think he will be OK. He wouldn’t be walking around if it was very serious. He might sit the rest of this game though.
GO NY GIANTS!!
Nicks
How sweet it is! Welcome aboard Hakeem!
I hope Eli is OK man. He has that Iron Man streak going to 75 games now.
GO NY GIANTS!!
How do you miss a TD on a deep pass
then get one on a screen pass? Is KC THAT bad? Are we THAT good?
I was not making fun
I was mroe lamenting he had to be in that position really.
I wasn't talking to you on that
it is pretty obvious how you feel about Tynes, no worries there.
hahaha
ok buddy thought you were talking to me. we are all Giants fans here, so it’s all good.
GO NY GIANTS!!
Its early yet...
but I don’t care if the iron man streak is snapped next week.
No need to trot Eli out there against the frickin Raiders.
What the f$%k is the internet?
exactly.
Carr could go out there and dominate the raiders

Bruised heel
He should be fine.

the way he was favoring that foot on the whole throw...
leads me to think it happened on a previous play.
It did look like Eli got hit on a previous play too, maybe it happened there and not that play.
What the f$%k is the internet?
damn
great effort
A thousand lips. A thousand tongues. A thousand throats. A thousand lungs. A thousand ways to make it true. I want to do terrible things to you.
I agree he could be ok but I just don't want him to test it now against
a tired defense. I can see guys falling on his leg.
even if he
is perfectly fine, what’s the point of coming back in the game. let carr finish this one

O...
on that note, let him sit the rest of the game.
Who the hell cares about stats?
What the f$%k is the internet?
i think we might win this challenge
not enough evidence for the call to be overturned
Boley
has definitely impressed me….cant wait to see SIntim

Got to squeeze that Boley.

guess not...
I doubt they somehow get 4 points…
THo with David Carr, you never know.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Going for two?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Haley, you are a genius.

Jet and Cowboy loses are always good consolation prizes.
Patriots are battling it out too after the Ravens pulled to within 3 again.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Manning's in his baseball hat
Game over for him.

Haley has a curious mind
If KC could have scored 2 more TDs and made all 3 2 point conversions they could have tied it.
I get the math but if you go for two and you've been going for it on fourth down
why not onside to get the ball? I mean you’ve going all out so keep it up!
good point
and vrabel is taking extra shots on him man as were other KC players who are mad cause they suck.
GO NY GIANTS!!
Why not?
Eli is sitting down and im sure we could have eaten 6 minutes at least if Carr wasnt throwing the ball.
GO NY GIANTS!!
good thought
smart move taking eli out.. we just gotta shut them down here so KC doesnt get any hope..
were still up by 18.. three possessions..
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
the dallas texans?
were they a bunch of loser underachievers like the team that plays in dallas now?
A thousand lips. A thousand tongues. A thousand throats. A thousand lungs. A thousand ways to make it true. I want to do terrible things to you.
Has Moose been watching this game?
Cassel has been getting killed back there.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Giants D looks a little worn out
after that long last drive and then the lame 3 and out Carr engineered.
"We were very much aware of that. There was a lot of phone call-type things going on in the room." -- Tom Coughlin
I don't know about that...
it was one catch that brought them here and one of the only times that had good protection.
Bunch of bad angles on the tackles too.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Robbins almost
repeats the pic style from last year play-off game.
all right
enough with the pity flags for KC

Could have been PI on either man there
so that means that’s a no call you frickin zebra’s.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Use LJ
NO! USE LJ WHERE HE CAN SCORE!
Goose knows all
We need to run a little clock here.
Even if the D isn’t as tired as I think they are.
"We were very much aware of that. There was a lot of phone call-type things going on in the room." -- Tom Coughlin
Did Bradshaw aggravate his ankle or something?
Seems like he has not been on the field in a long while.
I hate you Gilbride
need to say that once a game
by long time listener on Oct 4, 2009 4:00 PM EDT reply actions
I wonder if Carr felt
like he was back in Houston again… what with how fast the rush got to him.
I'm glad I don't gamble
Because I would have taken the Giants by 9, and KC might beat the spread. I would be freaking out if I had money on this game.
by long time listener on Oct 4, 2009 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions
This one is far from over
The have been moving the ball well.
Can we just finish the game out and not throw any more pity flags for KC?

Dear lord
Rocky “mountain” Bernard is just HUGE
How can Cinci
be in OT with the Browns? The Browns are ABYSMAL.
and minues their QB...
who more than likely would have allowed them to bleed out the clock if he was in there.
What the f$%k is the internet?
Somewhat
I wanted a blowout victory, and this wasn’t a blowout
I’m happy we’re 4-0, but still, we could’ve won by more than 11
Who cares?
Anyone who actually watched the game, as Im sure you did, knows this game was a blowout regardless of the score.
If any idiot wants to say the Giants “only won by 11”, tell them they are dumb, cuz they are.
This wasn’t as close as the score. Its the Giants and that’s been their MO for a thousand years. Nearly every one of their wins weren’t as close as the score says.
What the f$%k is the internet?
yea...
cuz next week we’ll all give a rats ass how the Chiefs were “in the game”.
What the f$%k is the internet?
I HATE whe the Giants
only win by 11… I mean, that is only one and a half scores!
Dude, sorry to say but you sound ridiculous right now. They were rolling and golden, and then Eli came out. The Giants played fine and well.
Lets see....
Joe Flacco all of a sudden is said to be an elite QB, better than ELi by all these “experts”
He’s down by 6 with 3 minutes to go, can he do what Eli is damn near automatically does and march them down?
What the f$%k is the internet?
Although I love the disrespect card, lately I’ve seen plenty of love for Eli. Haven’t heard anyone outside of Baltimore say Flacco is better. Could be dead wrong, though

Yeah
Ralph V is keeping us updated:
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2009/10/game-day-giants-3-0-at-kansas.html
It doesn’t look too serious. They’re calling it a bruised heel, but he felt a pull or strain in the bottom of his foot. They are doing tests though, so we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
Good win
Today was a good win for Big Blue and a game they were expected to win. It is good to see them performing and knocking out teams that they should be beating.
Any word on Eli Manning???
GO NY GIANTS!!
