That Steve Smith Slant
We have all discussed this issues with the long pass plays on 3rd and short. Especially with Hixon. Anyways where is Steve Smith in the slot running a slant where the blitzing LBs used to be. That has always been our bread and butter play. After getting so many balls thrown his way in the first 4-5 weeks he has been targeted alot less. I say throw it to Smith short pick up the first down and then, go long on 1st down.
Maybe Eli just wants to give these guys a shot to make plays. I mean if Mario or Hixon or Nicks catches a deep ball on 3rd and short the past few weeks the game could have changed drastically, but it didnt happen. Lets see if we play a little more conservative against the Eagles and stay with a short passing game.

This play will now be a myth.
Like the 30 yard screen to Boss against the Redskins last year.
The fade stop to HAM is now a myth too.
For real, I don’t care who needs to get their head out of their ass. Whether is TC, Eli or Gilbride, we need to bring this slant to Smith, or HAM for that matter, back into the offense.
Why they’ve abolished it? I don’t know. Especially since the Cards and Saints sent the house constantly.
I’ve mentioned it plenty of times (like the ‘we need Boley’ thing), but I like the deep ball. I know its single coverage and it may be there when Eli throws it. Also, the CB’s like DRC and Tracy Porter made excellent plays on Hixon.
But when they are thrown, either on third down or in the 1st quarter when they are down already…needs to be re-evaluated. Better yet…abolish that.
Obviously its “if they catch it” then no one complains. Yet its just a low % play and they need to use it on downs that won’t cost you. Or maybe a safety valve would be nice…AHEM Boss..

hit the nail on the head….
the coaches can scream “execution” all they want…but when it’s the 1st quarter and you see Eli struggling and missing with his throws you certainly do not continue w/ the same game plan….you simplify and make adjustments.
the truth of the matter is, this is the exact same game plan as the one last year w/ plax…KG can talk a good game, but it’s the same thing week in and week out.

i have to agree w/ the coaches here
The Giants and the Eagles are almost in the same situation. You said it right there andiamo — Eli struggling. THat’s all execution right there, and there’s not a whole lot you can do play calling wise to fix that. Eagles fans whined about the play calling in OAK but even with the extra red plays in WSH it did nothing for McNabb. Players got to hold their end too .
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Steve Smith
He’s being double teamed like mad now..since now people know how dangerous he can be..
But he ain’t no ordinary receiver, so far this year, he has not been shutout
