hey, look at that

the Raiders are winning!

Right on

Really not ready to go crazy over this one, and if you know this team, it would be foolish to think they can’t still have a successful season.

Offense: We ran the ball pretty well, just had to stop doing it in the second half. Eli was a little off and obviously that can’t happen against a good team, but he’s been able to overcome bad games in the past. On the two plays the Saint blitz (which was the only way they got pressure) really worked there were TOs, and that’s just a bad ratio. I really wasn’t that impressed with the Saints D. All in all, if you buy that the Saints have a good D, it was a decent performance.

Defense: The big problem was no pressure. We know the D is going to get burned over the middle if that happens, but Boley should help a little with that. And I don’t think you can logically say that this proves we can’t rush the QB – it was a bad week for the rush, but should be better going forward.

Special teams: Hixon was great, and remember what he did to Arizona last year. But why were Carney’s kickoffs going farther than Tynes’?

Refs: Didn’t cost us the game, but come on. And they took away the first good catch Jacobs has ever made.

And I know we may have to play NO again, but this was their peak game, and no team is as good as their peak. I don’t think we could have beaten NE in 2007 when they were at their early season peak, and look how that turned out.

"But why were Carney's kickoffs going farther than Tynes'?"

Because Carney doesn’t take kickoffs for the Saints, Morstead does.

That's a valid point

I saw that their other kicker wasn’t active and thought it was the KO guy.

Refs

The Giants definitely didn’t lose due to the refs but give me a break There were some terrible calls. The pass interference on Webster was a joke. There’s no doubt it was a fumble late in the first half. And last but not least… where was the holding on O’Hara? When was the flag thrown? A home team phantom call.

by FrankB0318 on Oct 18, 2009 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agree that there were some pretty soft calls

but there was also a lot of poor poor poor defense by the Giants

On another note

do you think Jim Zorn is being fired right now, or will they wait till tomorrow?

I think he's already been fired.

Today, combined with the fact that Holliday to the Mets seems more and more likely by the day, makes today the first time in a while I’ve found myself to as happy to be a Mets fan as a Giants fan.

and the beat goes on for Omar & Co.

not that Holliday is a bad player, he’s not. but, i just feel like the Mets are trapped in the same cycle.

theres no salary cap

so i’m not concerned about how much money they spend. i just wish they wouldnt prioritize something like a closer and then blow their wad on a guy like k rod when they dont bother to get any kind of decent back ups for their old, injury prone first baseman.

also trading for francouer was pathetic.

cant get any worse than this year tho. i hope.

Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.

Manningham made some nice plays too

the offense really wasn’t that bad. Manning missed two easy TD’s, and obviously the fumble was killer, but other than that the O didn’t look bad – the D just never showed up.

they had to get away from their plan, which was more than likely to run it down the Saints throats.

I like the deep shots, but they failed and backfired…pretty much those 2 missed bombs were the game, cuz they came down and scored.

But Jake and Bradshaw ran well when given the ball.

Giants O Line

Jacobs and Bradshaw had some good runs. Although the Giants were down 2 TDs early the pass protection for the most part was very good. They only allowed 2 sacks in mostly obvious passing situations.

Cuz I thought he was going to be limited by the Giants D. Big Ben is my backup so I thought it was an intelligent thing to do, boy was I wrong. But it’s not as bad as one of my mates, he took off Brady because he wasn’t doing all that well so far!

i was wondering

why hixon was back in the lineup at WR after missing all that time. i know he had a great game returning, but that’s what he’s supposed to do. he hasn’t really established himself as a WR threat. i was wondering why not move nicks into a more prominent role instead of taking deep shots to hixon.

by carolinabrave89 on Oct 18, 2009 6:03 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Saints are good

but it’s only one game. And the Giants are still a damn good team, they just played a crappy game. Last year they played a crappy game against the Browns and still got out to 11-1. Barring major injuries, I’m pretty comfortable guaranteeing that the Giants will be a playoff team, and maybe even get home field. We’ll see how the season shakes out.

you can say the Giants "floundered"

and I’m sure that will be the talk all week.

But I’ll never forget that Browns game last year. Not saying the Saints are the Browns, the Saints are not pretenders.

Giants got beat, fair and square..and they got beat good.

But there are plenty of things to look at from this game and take forward.

In the grand scheme of things, the Giants aren’t going undefeated and one loss is just one loss…in October, that’s about as meaningless as it gets.

Agree

they will be fine but I’m a bit concerned about the D. The D-Line has been manhandled by good O-lines, Dallas & NO. The injuries are not helping but it seems as if they don’t get a good rush with the front 4 they won’t blitz any of the backers or D-backs because they need them in coverage and today with 6 guys covering they still got shreded. This D has not been the same since late last year and unless Eli plays well against the Cards next week it could be more of the same with their O.

by Landeta on Oct 18, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yup

the complete lack of pressure really hurt. I think Romo would have carved us up like this too if the Giants didn’t kill him every play.

The Saints O-Line really showed me something today, gotta give them all the credit.

I really saw the same defense from the late season collapse of last year.

This is where Boley helped so much, he was all over the field and I think him alone would have made this a different game.

We’re gonna have nothing but battles from here on out too, not a single easy one on there (even the Redskins game….)

This is nothing like the Browns game

last year though. The Browns game was a good Giants team walking into a game in which they knew they were the better team and looked right past the Browns. Don’t tell me that the Giants were looking past the Saints. The Giants came into this game knowing it was a big test of their team and wanted to show the world how good they were. These two are nothing alike at all, I am not saying this loss will end the Giants season or they will crumble and not play well anymore (infact they will probably play better) but this is not comparable to the Browns game at all.

by sduncan24 on Oct 19, 2009 1:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sure

but this was a big dome game with 2 weeks to prepare for the saints. If NO played like they did against Buffalo, NY wins that game. You guys are going to need to win home field because your team does not look as good out doors as you do in the dome.

Giants D Line Overrated!

First, I’ll preface my post by stating I’ve been a Giants fan for almost 40 years. Also, my opinions are not a result of today’s ass whopping. In the Giants Super Bowl our front 4 was able to put constant pressure on Brady. Since that game the front has been largely ineffective. The Giants do not bring sufficient pressure unless they bring some blitz packages. A few weeks ago the Jets held the Saints to 10 offensive points. They held the Saints from a touchdown until midway through the fourth quarter. Why? How? the Jets blitzed and kept blitzing.

When Steve Spagnuolo left the Giants to became the Rams head coach I posted on this site I welcomed the loss of Spags. Spags received too much credit for the Giants Super Bowl run. Last season there was lots of talk about the Giants D line wearing down. Injuries on the line was the primary excuse. While the excuse was valid the bigger reason was again the Giants lack of blitz packages. Rushing 4 linemen vs. 5 O line wore the Giants down. Spags, the Giants coaching staff and they’re players became too overconfident and cocky on their lines ability to pressure the QB.

Staying on the subject of overrated. Osi Umenyiora. In 2007, Osi was select to the pro bowl. An undeserved honor. Aside from his 6 sacks vs the Eagles he registered 8 sacks in the other 19 games including the playoffs. 8 Sacks. In the playoff run he had zero sacks. In 4 regular season and 1 playoff game he had zero tackles. His containment on the run is terrible.

by FrankB0318 on Oct 18, 2009 7:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed on Osi being overrated...

tho, he’s still one of the top 10 ends in the game.

I agree, we need to start blitzing more.

In the Skins and Dallas games, I thought they blitzed too much, and it cost them on the long running plays.

Now, it seems they are scared of the blitz and only going once in a while.

I think its more of a feel thing and something Sheridan will get over time.

REMEMBER!!!! Spags and that D wasn’t really SB caliber for every single game either.

I think your a little harsh

but I agree with much of what your saying the other problem I see is that for some reason over the last couple of games last year and through this year the D-Line has trouble stopping the run against anybody good. Hopefully they’ll fix their problems but this D might do them in this year not the WR’s like everybody thought.

Good thing is...

its early yet…and you can really think of it as a lot of injuries are taking their toll.

Not really that we’re missing starters, but just depth. As the season goes on, these guys coming back fresh could be a blessing.

The real X factor is Boley. He really was all a Pro-Bowl type guy to me, he’ll really help when he comes back.

Boley and Sintim. Boley showed good coverage speed as well as blitzing. With Sintim’s speed he should be effective blitzing on the edge.

I agree

Sintim is an unknown. We also know TC is old school. He often doesn’t have lots of trust with rookies. Aside from the injury who much experience is needed to be put in strictly as a blitzing LB?

by FrankB0318 on Oct 18, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think we have been getting scared and putting our LBs in coverage as opposed to filling holes. Part of this is our injured secondary. Drew picked us appart today because we left LB on WR matchups all over the field. I think we have been too bend but not break. We made their O Line look like probowlers today.

Here's the problem

when you destroy weak teams and then get pummeled by a really good team people tend to overreact to the results. The Giants defense played horrible but they aren’t as bad as the Saints made them look today. One thing that is huge going forward. Teams are going to pick on CC Brown over the middle all day. Bill Sheridan needs to shore that area up fast.

Boley, Canty, Ross all starters that missed this game. We still don’t know for sure what this defense really is.

Your right I'm probabbly overreacating

but something does not seem right to me about this D espcailly up front. In 07 and 08 we were still weak at saftey with James Butler and teams picked on him deep but we we still were able to minimize big plays and shut down teams on the ground. Like I said earlier I’m not overley concerned that the Saints beat our D-Backs and scored some points, they are are great Ofense but the ease they did it with because Brees was so comfortable in the pocket and their ability to run the ball when they needed is what concerns me.

by Landeta on Oct 18, 2009 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rebuttal

We destroyed the weak teams. Against an average Cowboy team our line was pushed around. Cowboys ran the ball down our throats. Then today’s disaster. Our D line seems more interested in the sack then committing to stopping the run.

CC Brown is absolutely terrible in coverage. The loss of Philips will be difficult to overcome.

by FrankB0318 on Oct 18, 2009 7:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

we destroyed weak teams.

but as always, I disagree with the idea that teh Cowboys are average, or even that the Redskins are well below average.

Those are division teams, doesn’t matter how bad they are against other teams. Those games are always a battle no matter if either team is winless or undefeated Being 2-0 in the division…really much more important than the Saints game.

Definitely a wake up call game. Its early, tho so since they seem to have a lot to work on, there’s plenty of time to fix it.

but Washington is 2-4. Every team they faces was winless. They are a terrible team.

Dallas since starting 3-0 last season they’re 9-9. That spells average to me. Regardless, allowing 250+ plus rushing yards is on the D line and is worrisome.

Really there is nothing you can do when the Saints moved

Colston around and had him on AP and running free to the safety all day. No one can reach a QB in 3 seconds. The Dline stopped a rushing attack that avg 166yds per contest. They just could not get to Brees because his reads were too easy! Colston on a LB? throw it to Colston. Colston on a safety throw it to Colston. It was just too easy we didn’t disguise our coverage or switch out of plays that were bad matches for the D.

by Major on Oct 18, 2009 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

3 Seconds?

On many passing attempts Brees had lots of time. He was able to step up into the pocket. He rarely had anyone is his face. Again how do you account for the Jets getting constant pressure on Brees? Jets were blitzing and blitzing often.

The D line stopped the rushing attack? The Saints ran for 133 yards. The average rush was only 3.4 per carry but that stats is slightly misleading. The Saints last 2 possessions they had 5 carries for 5 yards while running down the clock.

Ive said it a few times already, but the saints are a different team outside. They will loose a couple when it gets cold and they go on the road. They had 2 weeks to prepare. Were in the dome and pumped up.

We limped in and dont have a healthy secondary… that kills out blitzes because we have put our guys in help coverage instead of sending them. Not many guys who can play one on 1 right now.

We need to get back to running the ball. I know Eli is good, but like Pit, we are getting away from how we got good. Run fist, set up play action. Maybe mix in some screens to keep the LBs honest.

Oh well, its a loss. If we go .500 against the current undefeateds Im happy.

by MSP Giant on Oct 18, 2009 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

good observation, re: AP

As much as we all respect his ability to quarterback our defense, he has been a major liability in pass coverage. In recent times it seems that when teams burn us badly with the pass it is up the seam and not on the edge, and we saw that again several times today.

The postgame Giants.com call-in show criticized C.C. Brown for his play today, and while he wasn’t without his mistakes (the miscommunication with Dockery on the TD comes to mind), he also posted 12 tackles. Whenever your safety leads the team in tackles, it means either a) he was flying all over the field and was a beast in stopping the run; or b) his services were called upon far too often in the secondary. The Saints receivers should NOT have been getting that deep, but we weren’t playing press coverage often and guys were coming free up the seam and blowing by our LBs. Coupled with the fact that we got virtually no pressure up front, and suddenly we have the perfect storm. There were breakdowns all over the field today on D (three encroachment calls will undoubtedly drive TC nuts), but coverage over the middle certainly stood out to me as a glaring weakness.

Perhaps this is the formula for picking apart our defense. I imagine Kurt Warner will be salivating once he sees the gaping holes in the middle of our defense on film.

Conservative

When your losing by 17 or 24 points and your D hasn’t made a stop it’s obvious your D scheme is not working. Send 6 or 7. What do you have to lose???? The Saints had 3rd and 17. Once again Sheriden only sends 4 allowing the receiver to get down field and wide open.

On Eli’s INT the Saints sent 8. They only had 3 in coverage. The blitz often.

The Giants are at a distinct disadvantage

We have a defensive coordinator who was clearly overmatched and had nothing, not one answer, and clearly no preparation for anything the Saints might throw at them. No blitzing, no interesting wrinkles, nothing on D to force the issue and nothing on D to help where help was needed. What was Sheridan doing all week? What prevents a DC from changing things up at all? We are like the Yankees as they approached the 64 World Series. Great players, great team, and the front office let everyone get old together. Loyalty was prized above all. And so we have Tom Coughlin, the man who changed. Love it, love his story, love the Super Bowl win. But one screen pass every few months, making our own tight end MIA during games, the lack of play-action, it’s almost as if the last 30 years of football have passed him by, AND STILL HE STANDS BY GILBRIDE. In the Giants case it may not be the players who got old but the thinking. Having said that, Am I alone in thinking that Pierce’s intangibles may not outweigh his age on the field and his lack of athleticism? I am tired of hearing that he’s a coach on the field. You know what, he certainly plays like one. Yes, it’s game 6 of a marathon, not a sprint, but I’m looking at New Orleans and Minnesota and even Philly and their thinking is current. I can’t say the same for the Giants. Yes, let’s by all means impose our will. But come on, there are more ways to do it than what we’ve seen from Gilbride and after today what we know about Sheridan. I’ll be the first to say it, we may yet make a huge run in the playoffs and we might even win a Super Bowl. But where is our Mike Tomlin? Where is our young coach who thinks about the way the game is played today and how to make it play next year? And how to get ahead of the pack?

by nybaseballgiants on Oct 18, 2009 8:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tis one game

but there are some good points made here.

TC and KG are old style coaches. With the right players they can get away with it.

AP is ready to be phased out after this year. But the message (Sheridan) is you cannot expose AP further by flanking him with two unathletic LBs. Chase and Clark are first class back ups. Great for a stopgap but…..

by MSP Giant on Oct 18, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think your being a little tough

Andy Reid showed today that he is stubborn and still does not change his ways. Minnesota has been classic underachievers for years they are finally putting it all together this year but the season is still young. TC is a very good coach he’s one SB win away from the HOF. The Saints are comming off back to back years with no playoffs, Sean Peyton hired Greg Williams becasue if he did not win this year he might be fired and the D was the problem. Maybe Sheridan was not the best pick for DC but it’s still to early to determin that. Yes other than Spags TC has not been great with his choices of coordinators but he does a great job developing young players and with JR they put a good system in place. Maybe they don’t use Boss that much but Manningham looks like he’s going to be a player and Smith is developing into one of the better WR in the league. The Giants are ahead of the pack, along with the Steelers, Colts, Eagles, Patriots. The Vikings and Saints are trying to get to that point and have made great strides this year to get there. Remember the Giants are one of the better teams in the League and have been for a few years now. Some of your points are good but some of them would apply for the Cowboys or Redskins not the Giants.

by Landeta on Oct 18, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Let's be clear about something

of course I’m being a little tough, that’s the point! and please learn to discuss what’s been written, not start off by saying BUT Andy Reid does this and Minnesota does that and New Orleans hasn’t… talk about what’s discussed re: the Giants and what was written. Philly went out and drafted Jackson and Maclin AND THEY INCORPORATE THEM INTO THE OFFENSE to utilize their talents. They changed things. Minnesota got percy Harvin, a most unlikely Viking based on past talent. And THEY USE HIM. We have players at skill positions and we don’t use them. Bradshaw, Boss, play action, screens, red zone all come to mind immediately. Because we, with Coughlin as the head and the face, are stuck in the past. And like I said, indeed, we might win it all. But it will be the last gasp of a dying empire IF WE DO NOT CHANGE as the game has changed and talent or no, remain competitive AND BETTER. And lastly, just as every analyst ever has said the pass rush is the key to a good to great defense, of course some points can apply to other teams. But once again, I am talking about the Giants.

Not to blow up your whole thesis or anything

but we do have a guy named Jerry Reese, and a pack of draft picks that he’s made in the past couple of years – including our entire receiving corps – that are integral to the team.

I was down on Coughlin too halfway through 2007 but the man has proven himself. This is one game. The team is still 5-1. Give them a chance to bounce back, Drama Queen.

i don't say the giants are old

I use the ‘64 Yanks analogy to discuss “loyalty”, the Yanks to players and the Giants to a coach and his far-less-than desired staff. and yes, i’m well aware of the genius of reese in finding talent in the draft, agree completely. but in the nfl the head coach has autonomy and that’s fine. fine when there’s a meshing of styles, and ideas for the future. but when, as i see it, a coach who is a traditionalist when it comes to all things football and his staff THIS YEAR that goes out of its way to never innovate or even search for new and different or older, tried and true (i’ll say this for the thousandth time – how many times have we seen, in the red zone, especially inside the 5, play action followed by the wait a tick release by the tight end who is ALONE in the end zone – hundreds of times. BY OTHER TEAMS. we all read and enjoy this blog and we know the other simple plays or new ideas that the Giants brain-trust simply refuses to wrap their collective heads around. that is what i am saying. coughlin is all about loyalty. and tradition. and while both are wonderful traits to be admired, sometimes they are misplaced and misused. i want the mindset of this coaching staff to change. we can say one game, one game, all we want. i disagree. i love that we stockpile defensive linemen. but we do not have an impact linebacker (boley may be close to that but remains to be seen) and have not had one or developed one for years. this blog has pointed out the problems at safety. my point is simply this – i feel we have a coach who may have changed parts of his personality and yes, that went a long way towards helping us win the super bowl BUT he refuses to change parts of his approach to football for a changing game and the proof is in the plans drawn up BY HIS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AND HIS DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. the giants win IN SPITE of Gilbride and Sheridan because of the talent level and the execution efficiency. ask yourselves what lawrence taylor’s career might’ve been if coughlin rather than parcells had been his coach? loyalty to outmoded ways of doing things is not a character trait i want in my head football coach and a complete and utter lack of innovation is not what i want in my coordinators.

last gasp of a dying empire?

what are you nuts?

The ONLY problem with this game was the defense. Not the offensive gameplan.

Its all IF’s…so IF they hit on that SWISS pass, its a different game. IF Webster at least tips that ball away…its a different game.

LOTS of BREAKS OF THE GAME that fell in the Saints favor.

This is not a we NEED TO EVOLVE type game…we didn’t excecute. The Defense was exposed too, but if they aren’t on the field as much as they were…different game.

We could have ran all over them.

This game is on Eli missing a few key throws (maybe they shouldn’t have been on third down…) and the defnse not being able to stop UL-Lafeyette today…

Anyways, horrible coverage in the 2ndary, especially in the 2nd half today. But, it was one bad game, they need to get over it, cuz they are looking at a serious passing attack again next week. Hope the D is way PO’d going into that one.

Another play

Webster pulling up on a possible pick on 3rd and long on the first drive of the game b/c Thomas was coming at him, and the ball bouncing to Moore.

by Mount17 on Oct 18, 2009 9:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yup.

and that horrible PI call (that even Colston was laughing at….) and fumble..14 points they led to.

Not saying you wipe the penalties away, you take the points away. Cuz the way the Saints were going…they would have marched down anyway.

On the Webster play? You could probably tell it was gonna be a bad day then. How that ball isn’t at the very least just falling harmlessly to the ground..I don’t know, let alone caught by Moore (really wanted someone to take that guy’s head off today….him and Shockey were annoying.)

Lots of IFs. They beat us…but it really wasn’t as much of a blowout as it seemed.

They got ALL the breaks and capitalized on them.

this was like the exact opposite

of the Dallas game

"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09

i couldn't disagree more re: IFS

the problem with the IFS thesis as presented by you and others is that it never takes into account all the plays that went our way!!! in true believer fashion, you and most fans just want the plays that went bad for your team to be subject to WHAT IF. but be aware that the SAME HOLDS TRUE FOR EVERY OTHER PLAY and the limitless number of possibilities that can occur for plays that we liked. most fans boo when their team runs some lame play and fails to get that first down or that touchdown. but those same fans seem completely unaware and oblivious to the fact that THE OTHER TEAM has spent a week practicing to STOP THAT PLAY. i am looking at a bigger picture, at something that i think is institutionalized in who coughlin is and how he coaches and approaches football. agree, disagree, cite chapter and verse, be my guest. but fooling ourselves with a HEY BUT WHAT IF look at the Saints game is a mistake by my reckoning.

Easy just becuase I did'nt agree

you don’t have to go off. I did dicuss your points bt your post was a litlle all over the place so my reply was too. To your point the Giants drafted Mario Manninham and are starting to use him. They drafted Steve Smith and at the end of the 07 season started utilizing him in the slot during their Super Bowl run, something they never did much of during the year. They changed and “incorporated” him into the offense based on his talent right before the playoffs. Hakeem Nicks is making an imact as a rookie. Bradshaw is their leading rusher this year and he does not get all of the snaps because if you saw today he does not pick up the blitz consistantly well while Jacobs is better at that. And how is Percey Harvin an “a most unlikely Viking based on past talent” is this not the organization that once had Randy Moss and Chris Carter playing WR? I don’t even know what that statement means. They drafted a WR because they were weak at the position and are now playing him becaue he has proven to be good. The Giants drafted Aaron Ross in 07 because they had nobody at corner and he turned out to be good and they “incorporated” him onto the D. What do you expect the Giants to do that the Eagles and Vikings are doing so much better.

Great Post!

When the Giants reach the red zone has Gilbride called a passing play on their first play in the red zone? It seems as if he’s ran the ball every time.

Play action? Has the play action pass been taking out of the Giants playbook. Eli is very good in play action. Why has it been utilized very infrequently?

Like in Tampa when Eli bitched at Gilbride it appeared too many times Gilbride takes too long calling the play.

AP is a very good on field coach. I agree. His weaknesses are glaring and the good teams easily exploit them.

We didn't have a bad game...

we lost due to Mullet Power. Will someone slip Drew a Supercuts coupon?

Good game drew.

A least with the Jets Lossing

we won’t here much about the Giants lossing to the Saints. Jet fans will calling for Sanchez’s head and to fire Rex Ryan. Another 3-0 start down the drain to 3-3 you could have predicted it after they beat the Titans and all of the Jet fans were talking Super Bowl.

Mike and Mike

Tomorrow morning I’ll be able to watch Mike and Mike. When the Jets were winning and with the success of Sanshize the show was unwatchable. Greeny insufferable. The show was about the Jets and only about the Jets.

318 Rushing Yards.....

and you lose at home? OUCH!

A first time

It’s the first time in more than 20 years that a team lost while rushing for more than 300 yards.

Congrats to the Cowboys for making up ground on the whole division today.

Well played, Wade. Well played.

LOL

That made me laugh. Maybe that’s why the Cowboys fans are all talking smack on the ESPN boards.

today was Tony Romo's best day since 2007

Film & films

This game show the Saints know more about our Giants than we know about them.
They also, play with more intensity than us, thus causing a plus turnover for them.
Our weakness and their strength will be more balance in the play-off.
This loss is a blessing, It showed us where we need to improve.
This olddiehard had seen it before.

biggest lesson `

i think this shows the giants that they need to stop playing around and get serious about playing week in and out. this game proved that right now we arent the undisputed best. we have to stop looking at the raiders and thinking we got this. we need to look up to the steelers patriots saints and work towards being able to make them look like the raiders.

Classic Jets

bring you up, then crash you right down.

i’d rather root for a team that never gave me hope (Cleveland) as opposed to a team that flirts with success, only to ultimately fail.

my dad's apoplectic

I think he had already purchased his Super Bowl tickets.

I can sympathize though, being a Mets fan

truth is we played horrible on O and on D lots of points left on the field by the Giants. However the injuries showed up today really and the refs didn’t help either but much credit goes to the Saints good win by them but theres a long way to go. We have to rebound next week agaisnt the Cards

by g-men_fan on Oct 18, 2009 10:30 PM EDT via mobile reply actions   0 recs

no pass rush

Simply put, we lost cuz our defense couldn’t dial the pass rush. They ran the score up cuz Brees sat back there comfortable all day. That zone coverage our D was running all game is useless if there isn’t pressure. Hopefully we’ll be better next time around.

no pain no gain

The said "We play poorly"

Isn’t football a team sport? l always thought coach"es design and call the plays.
The whole team better make adjustments or else bye bye play-off.

Last time we lost to an undefeated team...

I felt like we just proved ourselves as a team to be taken seriously in the playoffs.

This time, not so much.
