Most of the country will be getting the Giants-Saints game, but of course I won't be getting it in DC. I'll be going to Black Finn in Bethesda to watch the game, maybe we could organize a DC-area BBV bar watch?

Are there Black Finn bars in every city?

I love the NY spot. Very laid back and very packed!

the one in Bethesda opened about 2 years ago

and the owner is one of the former managers of the one in NYC – so I think this is the only other one, or at least was the first expansion. It started out as a Giants bar (b/c the owner is a Giants fan), but now it’s sorta turned into an NFL in general bar. It’s strange, some weeks the Giants are easily the most represented team, other weeks there’s only a handful of Giants fans there. Not sure why the discrepancy.

I've never been ther on a game day

mostly because its the after work spot of choice for most ppl I work with. What is so funny is that its totally a sports bar but its jam packed with females!!! Perhaps its the drink special but I always found that to be awesome.

The best part about the one in NY

is once you sign up to win a free open bar, you win it almost every month!

I usually go to Buffalo Billiards

but was going to try the 51st State in Foggy Bottom. Has anyone watched a game there? I hear its a total NY sports bar. In the past 2 years I’ve seen the Giant contingent at Buffalo grow a lot, from 5-10 people to enough where they show the game on several screens now. I’ve never been to the Black Finn.

51st State is great; just get there early

I have watched a few Giants games at 51st State as I live in the neighborhood. It’s a great atmosphere – the place is packed with Giants fans with a lot of people decked out in jerseys, and the Giants game is on all of the TVs (at least downstairs, not sure about upstairs). The one caution is that it’s a small place and fills up for Giants games, so get there early if you want to be comfortable or get a table/good view. Last week I walked by and people were starting to line up outside before the doors opened (which I think was 12 PM but not sure).

Thanks

for the info. Getting there at noon will be tough.

yes, 51st is great, but small

and new york teams definitely get plenty of airtime. i had some friends that lived in foggy bottom and we’d go there a lot. its an excellent place. mcfaddens is way bigger but the crowd can be pretty sketchy. buffalo billiards is probably better for a big centrally located sports bar. by the way, if anyone lives in arlington (i used to), hard times, right next to the clarendon metro, just opened up their upstairs and easily doubled the size of the whole restaurant. its all big flat screens there too. definitely recommend it.

if i make it out i’ll probably end up in college park (where im a grad student) or silver spring. ive heard galaxy is good place. i might have to check out black finn though. any other places youd reccomend CJ? im new to this whole suburban maryland thing. the bars in CP are good but i dont know if i can handle that many undergrads.

Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.

Galaxy

I actually went there for the Chiefs game and really liked it – they had a ton of screens and had the Giants game playing on a big screen, with a decent gathering of fans. It’s only a few blocks from my apartment too, which is nice

I've heard good things about 51st State

but I’ve never been there. I would definitely want to check that place out at some point. Maybe I’ll go there on Sunday

i usually go to Bailey's in Ballston

Which almost always has an all Giant’s room with audio. I’m going to be in Philly this weekend though, anyone know any place good there?

yeah that place is good too

an friggin enormous. and its in a mall so there splenty of parking. the main drawback is, well, its in a mall.

That's

where i will be Sunday. Nice and close to the house. It used to be a department store and they turned it into a sports bar…

ugh

I watched the Giants-Eagles playoff game (2006 version) at Baileys, and it was definitely Eagles-centric. Awful.

Anyone near Fresno, Ca.?

We get stuck with the raiders game in the afternoon. I was planning on going to a local bar, but it would be great if to join other BBV-ers if around.
