We Need......
FIELD POSITION....activate Laurence Tynes for kick-off duty, Carney has a weak leg. A PASS RUSH....the blitz paxkage has exposed the secondary too much, we need something out of the D-Line .Zero-Cuahion For Their Receivers....this 10 yard pass or the quick slant needs to be disrupted at the line of scrimmage. A BIG DEFENSIVE PLAY....to shift momentum quickly. RUN, RUN, RUN....A steady diet of Brandon Jacobs & Ward will wear down Philly & keep their offence on the sidelines. PLAY CALLING....no stupid trick plays out of Gilbride, see previous entry Kevin, STEVE SMITH & KEVIN BOSS,,,,no drops. LUCK....couldn't hurt.

I think the Giants will have two kickers active for Sunday

Why...
So Tynes can kick it out of bounds again?
I understand the complaints on Carney’s KO’s being too short, and they are valid. The flip side of that is the coverage has been better w/Carney’s KO’s resulting in a longer field for the opponent.
Carney this year:
79 KO’s – 60.4 Avg – 21.8 yds avg return = Opponent Avg Starting position = 31.4 yrd line
Tynes this year:
14 KO’s – 64.0 Avg – 26.8 yds avg return – Opponent Avg Starting Position = 32.8 yrd line
If I include the TB’s and KOB numbers in those totals, they only improve Carney’s numbers compared to Tynes. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a huge difference, but I’ll still take Carney over Tynes for every kicking situation, any day of the week.
Ultimately the Giants will need to get another kicker this offseason. Whether that’s in the draft, FA, or even trade, I don’t know. I think it’s safe to say anyone associated with the Giants, team or fans, want somone who is both accurate on KO’s and XP’s, but can hit the endzone on KO’s. Unfortunately neither kicker they have now can do both…actually neither can hit the endzone of KO’s with any regularity.

I don't know if he's a senior
but sign me up for the kicker from Ohio St. That kid nailed a 51 yarder last night (granted, it was in a dome, but for a college kicker, 50+ yards is impressive no matter what). Ohio St. has always had good kickers…too bad the rest of their squad is always overrated.

Tynes would be the other kicker. Joe Danelo is TANNED RESTED AND READY BABY!

NYT Articles from a few weeks ago
Did anyone see that NYT article from a few weeks ago that analyzed field position and the average points scored per starting yardline? I will look for the graphic and analysis, but the difference between starting at the 20 yr line or starting at the 30 yrd line was something like.25pts per possession. I will look for it again, but they were trying to make an argument for the current way yards are measured with the sticks and not some new more accurate technology. One of the results of the study was the scoring margins on field positions between the 20 yrd line and the 35 yrd line was minor on a per possession basis.
So, I would rather have another Defensive back or LB on the roster to manage westbrook than spend it on 2 kickers.

AP
said if they start on the 35 they can get a 3 and out and still leave the offense starting inside the 20, that’s not good

Case in Point
Indy vs. San Diego.
Very frustrating to give the opposing team a short field and start within your own 20. UGH!!!!

That's a good reason to have Hixon return punts,
but I understand why they don’t. I’d like to see Manningham get a shot at it, but TC won’t do it this year.

D-line especially needed rest
Therefore I think we’ll see the same D-line that we saw most of the year until the last few weeks. Tuck & Kiwi looked absolutely gassed (& sick) in those games.

A fresh Tuck
Should smoke Big John Runyan off the edge all day! They are due for a 5 sack day on defense.

Runyan
is one of the best. He always played Strahan tough. I wouldn’t underestimate his ability, if Tuck can get through it will be a great accomplishment

Runyan
could be had, but he would frustrate Strahan for long stretches. That is what made their battles so epic to watch.

AND KEEP UR EYE ON #36
Pierce should be looking for revenge for last game when Westbrook broke his ankles 3 times

That's what I'm talking about!
I hope Pierce got tied to a chair with his eyes glued open and was forced to watch game films since Sunday!

Good Luck
you guys. There’s only one Manning left. I’ll be rooting for you again this year. :S

This may be the first instance ever
where having a Manning at QB actually gained the Giants support instead of lessening it.

I wish
we could have met in the Super Bowl. Maybe next year. If you guys get a new coach, can the fan base convince him not to rest the starters in Week 17? It just hasn’t been good karma for you guys…

I really thought we would meet in the SB.
I have been vehemently against resting players for years…it makes me even crazier than usual. ugh!
