Ugh

the Vikings really suck. When AP isn’t running wild, they are a flat out bad team. Oh well, if the Eagles play like this next week, we’ll beat them by 28.

Holds

There were like 3 holds on that Westbrooke screen.

by Woogie526 on Jan 4, 2009 7:22 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Well

I think we knew the Eagles would win this game.

by Ed Valentine on Jan 4, 2009 7:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I didn't

the Eagles are so overrated it’s not even funny. If Minnesota had anything resembling a QB on their roster, they win this game by two plus scores.

by cjmulrain on Jan 4, 2009 7:36 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes but

we all have to admit that there’s a huge difference between playing Arizona and Philly. no offense to the Cardinals, but playing them at Giants Stadium in the Divisional Round would’ve been like having another bye week.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Jan 4, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

agreed

I wanted to play the Cards – and I wanted the Panthers to have to play the Vikings, but the Eagles don’t scare me any more than any other team we could have drawn. The only reason I hate playing the Eagles is b/c we all know that any team can win on any given Sunday, and there’s nobody I hate losing to more than the Eagles, b/c so many of my friends are Eagles fans. Add the fact that the Phillies just won the World Series and I don’t think I’d be able to talk to most of them ever again…

I was worried about facing the Iggles until...

1) They underwhelmed like hell today
2) I remembered that we will have a healthy Brandon Jacobs this time around
3) It came to my attention that Plaxico has not shot himself in the last month or so and therefore will not be a distraction

by jswaa on Jan 4, 2009 10:38 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Agreed

The Birds are flying high for now. I like to think we can beat them w/ a healthy Jacobs. He will have had 3 weeks to rest going into this game. And I expect Hixon to have a solid game against Samuel who has a hip problem. The key is pressure on Mcnabb. Even if we only get 1 sack, constant pressure would be fantastic. It’s going to be awesome.

by ProudYankee on Jan 4, 2009 11:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Our offense was flat

But, that was by far the best defensive line in the league we faced. We haven’t given up more than 14 points since Nov.Our offense might not beat you guys but our defense and S/T are definitely going to give the Giants fits.

This game will be close no matter the outcome.

I didn't watch the game

but I saw Don"chokertist"avan had 300 yards passing. That’s sold.

by ProudYankee on Jan 4, 2009 11:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

McNabb was great

so were the WRs. The Oline was terrible. But I have to say the Vikings D line was the best D line that we faced this year. w/ no disrepect to tuck Jared Allen was abusing our LT, and the DTs were clogging the run pretty good.

Our defense yet again made huge plays as usual. This will be a dfensive battle.

If our

Giants can dig deep and harness the feeling they remembered throughout their post season run, where they were looked at as too inconsistent. The QB was “skittish”, the secondary was vulnerable, we turned it over too much. Remember the lows and know NOW that they have this potential and this may be something more special than pundits could have forecasted. If they can do all that, w/ a dash of magic, we can get this.

Welcome to all trash-talking Iggles fans!

I hope you all enjoy following in the footsteps of the trash-talking Cowboys, Packers, and Patriots fans from last year. The Cowboys imploded, the Vikings are, um, not a good team, and now you’ve got Donovan doing his little TO dances and you guys think you’re the shiznit. Good luck on Sunday – you’re going to need it!

Save the neck for me, Clark.

how much luck

against a team who’s 1-3 in the past 4?

I got your back Joe D

Giants fans act like they aint scared, but you know they are. We split the season with a game a piece and had a decent shot of winning that first game in Philly. I respect what the Giants are doing, they are a solid team, but those fans are being a little disrespectul to the Eagles.

Last I checked, they Giants sneaked into the playoffs with the hot hand, and rod that to a championship. But they refuse to admit that another team could have that same scenario. They think that the Giants are the best thing since slice bread.

It will be a good game, it can go any way. I think the Eagles can win, and I wouldn’t be crushed if the Giants win. Thats what happens when 2 good teams play.

Hey Giant fans, stop frontin, you know you would prefer Arizona. Arizona had no chance on beating y’all, but we do. So stoping with the Eagle bashing and admit, that you guys are in for a game this week.

Don’t hate, participate baby!

Of course we're in for a game

But show the defending champions some respect. The first time we played you the game was not nearly as close as the final score indicated. The second time we had just beaten six straight winning teams (7 straight has only been done once in NFL history), had pretty much locked up the NFC East and were due for a letdown. Sunday will be a great game, and we know that. If the Eagles could win, but if they do it will be an upset. The Giants are the better team, and you know that in your heart if you are honest with yourself.

by Ed Valentine on Jan 5, 2009 9:26 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I will most definately give the Champions respect,

But I read some people posting stuff like Philly is gonna get steam rolled. Hey, its fine that everone wants to root for the home team, and heck this is the NY forum, but you gotta keap it real sometimes. This is gonna be one of those games, you know what I’m saying. I hate that we have to play NY, because NY is actually a good team. I have much respect for the Giants even though I hate them. But you gotta give the Eagles some respect, its not like this is the first time they have been in the playoffs and they are a team of rookies.

anyone who says philly will get steamrolled is an idiot

You never want to see a divisional foe in the playoffs.

Cool

We know, and so do you, that this will be one helluva football game. Who would have it any other way?

by Ed Valentine on Jan 5, 2009 12:11 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yup, yup

I won’t cry if the Birds lose, its not like NY sucks. Philly will be underdogs, but it seems like Philly is always having to prove something to everyone. No one ever roots for Philly, except Philly fans.

I think we have a better than good chance at winning this.

"No one ever roots for Philly except Philly fans"

Right, b/c New York is just everyone’s lovable loser, everyone everywhere wants us to win! ::sarcasm::

by cjmulrain on Jan 5, 2009 1:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

seems like it,

Philly gets a bad rap for no reason, all we do is support or squads and share love with our neighbors. We bring good will to people. I wish the public would start to understand that.

New York always seems to get their chest pumped by the media. Even when they stink. Although this year they don’t, but in the past, the Eagles could have a team of Saints and Angels and be 16 – 0 going in to a 0-16 Giant squad, and everyone would be talking about how badly they want to see the Eagles lose and how great of an effort NY gives and how they would win.

I think the Eagles are under-rated, don’t take us for granted, we are no team of slackers. Keep your eyes open and your head on a swivel in this one.

I just think

every fanbase thinks the media and everyone is against them. For example, I’m assuming you’re a Phillies fan, and as a Mets fan it seems to me like EVERYONE the past 2 years has rooted for the Phillies to beat the Mets (including the other teams in the NL East, lousy bastards), and then I see Philly fans complaining that nobody gives the Phillies respect.

I’ve also seen Dallas fans complain about the way the media treats the Cowboys, which I think we can both agree is ridiculous, b/c if the Media slobbered over the Cowboys any more, the FCC would have to step in.

by cjmulrain on Jan 5, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Dallas sucks, and I was happy to see TO cry like a baby after that

Giants game last year. I agree, I guess its a perspective thing.

Good argument.

I’m not gonna lie to you, most people were rooting against the Mets. Consider that most people I know in Philly are from NY and they wanted to see the Mets burn.

I actually felt bad for you guys. Billy Wagner is a choke artist bro, its only a matter of time till he starts popping off at the mouth about the NY fans. He is a traiter and a feind.

by yophillybro on Jan 5, 2009 2:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

for no reason?

Come on, everyone knows the fans have a bad rap and it’s not entirely undeserved. even so it still seemed like everyone was rooting for the Phillies in October

by queler on Jan 5, 2009 3:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

True, seems as if people were pulling for the Phils,

But imagine 25 years with no championship, and gut wrenching losses. You know how it is in New York, you guys would be going crazy up there. New York is no different than Philly, most people from Philly are origionally from NY anyway. We are one and same brother.

by yophillybro on Jan 6, 2009 8:14 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

sadly

for much of New York it has been that way. Most people are Mets/Jets fans, and I don’t know if there can be much more pain and suffering than what they go through. I thank my lucky stars that I was born when I was and that the first football game I ever watched was the Giants-Bills Super Bowl, which turned me into a lifelong Giants fan. If I had become a Jets fan, I think I’d be in a permanent depression.

by cjmulrain on Jan 6, 2009 12:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Permanent depression

Hey, the Knicks can do that to you, too, and they’ve been around since the forties/

by blue gonz on Jan 6, 2009 5:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Also, in reference to the first game,

I agree, the game wasn’t as close as the score. We got our teeth kicked in, but still was in position to win that game.

But, in reference to the second game, it wasn’t a let down, you tried to win that game, and simply lost.

Philly has been very inconsistant, but has played its best games against some of the best teams.

We are 3 yards away from a 13-3 record. They struggled in a few aspects and hopefully they corrected that short yardage thing. What would we be talking about right now if we gained those 3 yards. This team is a good team that fell on bad times. Heck, that happens in football, it doesn’t make you a bad team.

All said, I still think the Giants are a tiny bit better team at this point, but Philly is no Slouch and can compete with anyone. And we are rolling at this point of the season, you should know how important defense and streaky play means to a team. You won a championship under that same scenario.

Actually we lost

2 of our last 3 going into the playoffs. Thats not streaking.

by ProudYankee on Jan 5, 2009 12:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

he's talking about last year

though it applies this year as well. We weren’t hot going into the playoffs last year, except for the fact that their loss to New England was a good game, which everyone considered quite the feat.

by cjmulrain on Jan 5, 2009 1:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ok, point well made, I just read the post wrong.

I thought you guys were streaking, but apparently that wasn’t the case.

Philly made 2 of the last 3 into the playoffs, is that streaking

I am reffering to the end of the season… I though you meant that in disrespectful way to the Giants, but now I see what you meant.

Philly is on a roll, don’t be in denial, Last year, NY squeeked into the playoffs on a roll and won a championship because of it. Or did you forget so soon. I actually had NY winning vs NE (True story).

we weren't on a roll last year though

we were 6-2 after the London game, and went 4-4 down the stretch, with BAD losses to the Vikings and Redskins thrown in. And we lost 2 of our last 3. So the situation isn’t quite analogous.

by cjmulrain on Jan 5, 2009 1:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That NE game kept everyone believing in themselves.

Although I didn’t realize that you went 4-4 at the end. I gotta verify that.

Don't

forget that Buffalo game, Manning didn’t have a clutch performance. That W was strictly on the coattails of our D and running attack. Manning fumbled 4 or 5 times in that game. Yikes.

I don't think we're the best thing since sliced bread.

But are we the best thing since sliced rat meat coated with some kind of wax-flavored government cheese? Yes. I would say we are.

Save the neck for me, Clark.

by Mr. Met on Jan 5, 2009 10:26 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

haha, that was funny bro.

I heard rat meat can be tasty if seasoned well, and heck we will all be eating that wax-flavored cheese if the stock market doesn’t get it together. Heck, I’ll be the first in line to grab me a block of that tasty cheese. Can you say, Mac and cheese and oodles of noodle for dinner. :( Scary though!!!

wouldn't want anyone

but the Philadelphia Eggs coming to town, baby. Nothing like the smell of rivals’ blood in January. Go ahead, Eggs, break out your DVDs of the 07 Giants and get your inspiration. Then come out and play against your heroes.

You play to win the game!

#1 priority for the Giants

Keep Westbrook in check. We all now that he’s torn us apart in the past & they way AP has played lately, he’s going to need some help. Against the Vikes they used Kenny Phillips to cover Peterson & it worked for the most part. His one long TD was mainly on AP. I’m sure they will use this strategy again & I like the Giants chances here.

Can someone post some cheerleader photos

I really like what this blogs got going on with all the fly women. I don’t care if they are Giant cheerleaders, as long as they are nice looking.

we don't have cheerleaders

unfortunately. I’m perfectly on board with a full week of Eagles cheerleaders though – those gals are hot. And a few of them went to my college.

I don't care where the pics come from,

We should do like a playoff where we can vote on hot women who root for a specific team. We can find the steamest, (sportsnation approved) scantly clad women and have them in like a bracket where we can vote to see who is the hottest. That would be very nice.
