I think its possible
Simply because the money Ward is looking for is not on the table for him. I think the league consensus on him is that he’s cannot be a team’s primary runningback, that he has to be a part of a tandem. That said I can see him, with a contract less than what he is asking for, in:
Bengals: as an insurance policy for Cedric Benson inevitably doing something stupid again, and to allow Benson to rest and be more effective.
Seahawks: because Julius Jones cannot carry the burden himself, and Seattle has to change to a run-based offense until they sign a quality WR.
Jacksonville: to compliment Maurice Jones-Drew, and fix the same type of problem as in Seattle. I don’t know how likely this is, because Derrick Ward is not stupid and knows his success is contingent on an O-line to block for him… something Jacksonville lacks.
Colts: Addai needs help, and the Colts need to run the ball more without Marvin Harrison.
Bills: Who knows what will happen to Marshawn Lynch, and a dynamic guy like Marshawn Lynch could benefit by sharing the load.
The reasons why I am optimistic about getting Ward back is that Jerry Reese wants him back, and he enjoys being on a winning team as much as Brandon Jacobs does. The Giants will most likely offer him more money than any other team… but we’ll see what happens on Thursday.
GMEN!!
